l would disagree with Lord Haarts place - his speciality differs from Tamika's one. He gives +5 attack, defense and +10 damage to Black and Dread knights. Those knights are so powerful that a single Dread knight can kill a Ghost dragon in a 1v1. Those units are as badass as the hero looks. Important to mention that he starts with slow in his book as well.
Hey man, I have a question... Im 15 years old, and my father used to play this game, he showed me it when I was 8. We were playing on a old computer with a CD... are there the same maps on the new steam version? Thx
The "Eagle Eye" skill should be replaced with "Magical Intuition", which would place additional random spells into your spell book every time you visit a new mage guild, as though that mage guild effectively had an attached library. One additional 1st and 2nd level spell (basic). One additional 1st, 2nd, & 3rd level spell (advanced). One additional 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th level spell (expert). Heroes who specialize in this skill would be able to "intuit" spells one level higher than a town has built, which would make it possible to learn a single 5th level spell from each Castle town, and a single 4th level spell from each Fortress and Stronghold town.
I would just outright remove Eagle Eye skill as a whole from the game and make those Eagle Eye specialist become extraordinarily unique spell specialists. (No Town Portal, Water Walk, Fly or D. Door here, no cheating) However there's literally no mage hero specialists are out there like Landmine, Quicksand, Frenzy, Berserk, Sorrow, Summon Elemental, Sacrifice and Magic Mirror. Some of the normally underrated spells could've been as cheesy as how Luna is with her absolute nonsense Firewall and she is not even a banned character like how the campaign heroes are. Conflux is too much overrated these days. Fuck Conflux! I hate that town.
Or make Eagle Eye learn you all 1st (basic), 2nd (advanced) and 3rd level (expert) spells. Still not suited for JO templates, but could be interesting, especially since combining it with a Scholar hero might actually make it really useful/powerful early game (for tempo) ... And since the end game value is hardly existing, its probably not too OP ?
Nah. Eagle Eye skill should allow heroes to learn all kinds of magic in combat. This includes creature abilities and tower landmines. For example, you can learn dendroid's entangling roots or azure's fear.
@@reinebautistamercado4286 I thought about that too, but that might not be technically feasible (creature abilities) as these are not 'regular' spells...
Eagle eye often give me meteor shower or implosion.. Eagle eye is only useless at Jebus Cross, where when the opposite hero meeting, the game is about to end.
If somebody told me on March 3, 1999 that i will be 25 years later watching on youtube heroes tier list, i would say oh man you are out of your mind ... but .... btw 24 days to 25 year anniversary :)
Dude, I'm just a scrub, but I really dig starting with Neela and the Tower. Extra chances to get good spells and she gets good skills. Keep up the good work. You're the best content creator.
A long video but a good one, Lexiav. It's interesting hearing how a competitive player like yourself - who likes to play other people and work on rank/score - views the quality of heroes. I don't play versus other people. It's a different take, especially since it's influenced by fast offense and aggressive play. I learned a lot watching this. I used to play this game a lot when I was in high school and college, as I was 15 years old when Heroes 3 came out in 1999, but I always come back to play it every few years. The same goes for Heroes 2. I'm 38 now. I never really dug into studying the heroes specifically. There are many heroes in your S-tier and A-tier list that I learned are great heroes over the years. Mephala is one of them. I never knew that certain heroes can't roll certain skills. Seems like something I should have known. Oh well, I do now! There are some heroes in the lower tiers who I really like thematically. I just started playing the HD mod and Horn of the Abyss for the first time ever. There are many great quality of life changes that were made. Some really nice improvements. I wish they made some more, though, such as a total rework of Eagle Eye as a skill, as well as the artifacts related to Eagle Eye. Are they unable to change it for some reason?
Hey! It's actually that certain hero classes can't roll certain schools of magic, I think there is only 3 of these classes, Rangers - no fire Overlords and Barbarians - no water
The skill "Learning" needs to be massively buffed, as follows: 15% (basic), 30% (advanced), and 40% (expert) extra XP. Then in addition, it gives plus one primary ability point per 4 levels of the Hero (basic), per 3 levels of the Hero (advanced), and per 2 levels of the Hero (expert). Any hero that specializes in "Learning" gains 10% additional XP over and above those listed above, plus 1 additional primary ability point at every 4th level.
Basically you are saying it should be similar to enlightenment in Heroes 5. I think the numbers you gave might be a bit overtuned (giving both the stats and a lot more extra exp), but I'm relatively a noob in HoMM3 (played since I was young, but only casually and only just got back to playing a bit again after a break for many years), so I'm not going to make a call on exactly what it should be.
I'm 20 minutes in, and just realized I'm hearing nature faction music from Heroes 4 OST. Elwin's campaign. Nice touch, Lexiav, to play that as your background music here. Brought a smile to my face.
I love your videos my guy. Played HOMM2 in elementary school, and play HOMM3 from time to time since early high school. Love seeing this game played at a very high level. Hoping to catch a stream soon. Keep up the great content. Cheers.

Not a pro player here but just my little opionon. I always pick Ingham because i like how monks and zealots look like. Also even if they are consider to be weak units - This hero makes them stronger. Castle already has very strong units on its own so making weaker unit stronger is in my opinion pretty good idea. Also 8 speed make zealots shoot faster than most units in the game. Overall Heroes with speciality for weak units is imo good idea because your entire army become stronger.
Stronghold is easily my favorite faction, Sheeva and Gurnisson are my favorite pair, and when I am feeling spicy I run Crag Hack. Nice seeing my 3 go to heroes place high.
Hey Lexiav. Please play a few matches where you the bet is still to choose your own faction, but the opponent gets to choose your starting hero. Would love to see the sadism and comedy of trying to play a duel match with the worst heroes in the game.
Coronius with his unique "Dragon slayer" must be boosted for sure! Not because he is my favorite hero, but because he is the only Dragon Slayer in the game. Slayer sounds cool but doesn't do cool stuff. Imagine if "Dragon Slayer" ability allowed you to cast ANY magic on ANY yours or enemy level 7 monsters? That would make Coronius Super cool and not very overpowered, because it would set him on a very specific playing style.., A very late game strategy, perfect for long single player games.
All the precious resource specialists +1gem etc. Offence and intelligence specialists. The armorer specialists. The warlock (Alamar?) who has scholar and resurrection. Galthran and Isra. All the money specialists.
Although I'm so pissed off with Isra ranking since she's one of the most powerful hero in XL map, still thank you for all your passions you spend on the game and for the community
I would have put Aine in middle or high b tier. After Alamar she is the second best scholar side hero, since she starts with wisdom and has the gold specialty. Thanks for the tier list, Im getting ideas from those.
Can someone explain to me why sorcery and sorcery speciality is bad? The artifact increasing spell damage argument I dont understand, dont they stack together for a even more damage?
for example, if arcchery was 100% plus damage to shooters, then orrin the archery specialist would give 5% increase of archery every level, but he only gives 2.5% archery per level because archery is 50% increase in shooter damage, not 100%. so sorcery, already a bad skill that increases magic damage by 15% at expert, and because its so low, the specialists will increase the damage of spells by 0.75% every level. thats 15% plus damage at level 20 and it isnt even that much, and after level 25 you will not be getting more levels because the xp required goes to insane number. enemy can anti magic or protect his units from spells anyway. so, an orb increases magic damage by 50% and a level 20 sorcery specialists with expert sorcery increases magic damage by only 30%
Because it's only for damaging spells - so most spells don't get the benefit of it and the spells on which you really benefit from a damage boost are not always accessible (obviously depending on the template it varies) Ex : Implosion, Meteor Shower, Armaggedon etc... Base sorcery is not good enough to be that useful. You don't gain that much bonus with levels, especially in MP when you rarely go beyond level 20-25. It can scale a bit better in a SP scenario where you are level 80 but in MP you never go that far. So it's something that we don't benefit from much in general. It's why sorcery specialty (and sorcery) are bad. IMO Sorcery could be buffed a bit. With interference the direct damage magic is not that op anymore.
If you consider attack = defense, then expert offense is like +6 attack, expert armorer is +6 defense, but expert sorcery is not +6 spell power. Implosion is like 75*SP + 300 , so let's say you have 20 SP. That would be 1800 damage. With sorcery, 2070 damage. That is only +4 spell power. This would obviously scale more with spell power, but I think it is less for less damaging spells (like lightning bolt) and obviously does not work on other SP based spells, like summoning spells or buff duration.
Imo is good for inferno and stronghold where it buff fire shield and lightning on birds. Also it give mentioned dmg to spells. If you smack orbs with it it just even better. But that depends on play style. I like it with inferno.
Why are heroes with Diplomacy so low? They practically always win the game. The level 7 creatures on the map can be yours at no price at all. I remember playing Cyra in a large map and 30 Black Dragons just joined my army without asking for money. Lol
This is true for no rules vanilla gameplay, kind of. However I am generally looking at heroes in context of not only single player but also multiplayer games. In these diplomacy is heavily nerfed. You can only join for gold and even then you only get 50% of the creatures. Diplomacy here is Still very strong, but only in later stages of the game when you have a bunch of gold, access to big fights and an army good enough to intimidate the things you want to join. So if you want a good diplomacy hero it's usually better to generally build a good hero and then roll into diplomacy later. Diplomacy starters are not that good.
My two favourite heroes are Solmyr and Deemer. Especially the second one - when you build the mana vortex - you do lots of mess with Meteor Shower in the beginning of the game!
Hey man, I have a question... Im 15 years old, and my father used to play this game, he showed me it when I was 8. We were playing on a old computer with a CD... are there the same maps on the new steam version? Thx
I don't think there should be as big of a gap between Corkes and Hack. The skill rolls aren't that different and I've found Captains shift from defense to spell power can be very helpful early game since Cove is a glass canon.
@@averagelizard2489 I know haha its just .. Sandro is a freaking legend , he's been there since HOM&M 1 , and then SOD main villan, regardless of skills he's got LOVE mate 😁
Quick question for anyone that can explain Why is Vidomina a better choice for farming skeles than Isra? You said yourself Death Knights roll all the good skills, plus Isra is a might hero so wouldn't (s)he be better than Vidomina?
Casting spells is usually the best way to both travel and take fights. Haste, slow, animate dead will ensure your skeletons don't die, and Town portal/dimension door will ensure you take as many fights as possible for maximum value. Vidomina is generally better at casting the spells, hence I treat her better at that.
he will not get a random skill at level 3 like crag hag and tazar does, and that random skill will probably be a dead skill. alkin is much more consistent he has 7 skills to choose a good one, crag hag and tazar only has 3 skills to choose from.
@@01gg01 Why would you get a random skill at 3 if you start with advanced non-wisdom? You can deflect that at level 2 already (though it's only one skill you gain randomly, so of course you could get something mediocre like ballistics or luck)
Elmor seems to have quite some simularities to Wiliam Turner from Potc. With advanced navigations he would be the perfect guy to take over the flying dutchman and not visit land in 10 years
Imagine calling Mullich fat. My dude, he barely looks like he's chubby. I guess with how twiggy all the other Castle heroes look he just stands out to be "fat", because of the norm being twigs.
Imo heretics has better skill options then warlocks. Also their stats have better distribution because you get good portion into attack and defense. Warlock get plenty of useless skills ballistic, first aid or eagle eyes high chance. Which does not help a bit while heretics could get offense or armorer, even tactics. They have only one knowledge but you can mitigate that even in first day of your play. Will take heretics over warlocks anytime. Warlocks are saved only by their specials like shower or resurrection.
Am I stupid or, according to the H3 Wiki, Beastmasters can roll for Offence and Captains can roll for Armorer? The latter being least possible, but STILL possible at some degree. Not like Barbarians and where they could NEVER roll for water for example or Beastmasters and Fire, etc. I guess having a small chance to get these skills are equal to NO chance whatsoever in Lexiu's head. Still, need to be more specific imo, if you are about to invest countless hours researching and making a video about it, but eh... who cares anyway? 😂 Also, "Miriam is the best captain in the game" - puts her below Jeremy and Illor 😂😂
it's very funny when a lot of people correct Lexiawa when you pronounce or spell something .... And the truth is, he would spank you on a duel. Even with the hero's name misspelled ...
i (am fascinated with myself for noticing) can't see Giselle , i know that Thorgrim is here and she is replacing him . But this is hota shouldn't i see here and not him. Unless i blind and i missed something.
Ivor gives WAY more tempo than Mephala. Offense and archery with +1 speed to elves. Ivor is better at taking pickets and cons’s too. I would even prefer Jenova (she’s good at 200% difficulty) or kyrre (2 good starting skills) to start when playing rampart vs mephala. Mephala doesn’t have archery which is the most important skill for rampart. She doesn’t have offense which is second most important. She won’t roll earth most of the time. Armorer is a skill that you don’t really want to use if you don’t have to. Ivor kills stuff from afar. He doesn’t need armorer. Mephala is a strong late game hero but hard to get going with. She is better at taking hives although wyverns are not as useful as angels or cyclops.
Reality is, pickets are easy to take anyways. The goal of any might hero is to take a utopia, big conservatory or the final fight. All of these are far better done by Mephala from the very beginning. And if you care so much for the small early fights, then even a mage is going to suit you better. Also realistically you'll be fighting fast flying creatures, ranged creatures and so on. Mephala makes you do fights you would otherwise just dream of doing. Also, there is no world in which Ivor is better at taking conservatories. The meta for a rampart consa is to have dwarves on slot 1, centaurs slot 6, elves slot 3, setup a bunker positioning top left with those and tank for many turns for elves to get their damage across. Wayyy better excecuted on mephala. Except if its a tier 1 that you can burst through, but a tier 1 is free on anyone so it does not matter.
@@Lexiav Thanks for the reply, I’m gonna have to check out some of your Mephala games. If I don’t roll archery with her it’s tough to get going with her, same problem with somebody like Elleshar. Mages I think are terrible for early fights, not sure what you mean by that. I think Ivor is better for taking pickets because if you don’t roll earth atleast his elves match speed with the wolf riders. Ivor can take cons’s and utopias too just with more losses but the units you are losing are not really that important anyways: dwarfs, dendroids. His extra damage means you can take higher tier consa’s earlier, especially if you have expert slow.
I don't get why Mephala is better than Tazar. I don't get it why Alcin is better than Tazar. He mentioned that Tazar doesn't roll Offence. Same chance as Mephala ? 5
By level 3 Tazar in many of the outcomes will have Armorer + A useless Skill. In comparison Mephala will have Armorer + Leadership which is actually a really good combo with armorer, as armorer makes for longer fights and leadership allows you to do more during those. So despite the Potential of tazar being better, Mephala in most cases is going to be a better idea to use over Tazar. That's why Mephala > Tazar. And guaranteed offense just makes Alkin a monster in brawling, so Alkin > Tazar. The 5 odds for offense is actually not that bad, but in game it feels like it almost never happens are many games. Reasons why Meph is better than Tazar and Alkin is better than Tazar are different, can't use the Alkin reason and apply it to Mephala :D
I couldn't get the point of putting Thant as a Super and Vidomina as a "A". Vidomina if by far 1 of the best heroes in the game and years ago when there was tournaments she was forbidden to play.

Hard work! Thank you :)
Very helpful thanks man!
Thx
@@2300elo I think so... you can also find custom maps to download.
Great stuff guys thanks! :)
For me the Gunnar is the top, just absolute legend trough all those years and after all those dlcs.
if only Charna was a black knight specialist ....
2:34:47 - That's not a bug, that's King Stannis, the best hero in the game!
Lol.lexiav did him dirty by calling him bug
Saurug looks nice? You do you, Lexi.
What about giselle. is she any good?
Is there a way to select specialty heroes like gelu or dracon etc in a scenario from the normal home page?
In heroes editor you open the scenario and there in heroes section you need to allow heroes for it.
In my oppinion, sir mullich is also one of the most flexible general in this game
I miss some of those heroes in my Hota game or cannot choose them in the beginning. I only play offline, so maybe its that.
Where is Gissele I didnt see her
I don't think there should be as big of a gap between Corkes and Hack. The skill rolls aren't that different and I've found Captains shift from defense to spell power can be very helpful early game since Cove is a glass canon.
mate did you just called Sandro a looser ... Sandro IS SOD , you cant slag such a beloved legend like that :)
He is one of the best Heroes 3 players ever. He knows what he's talking about extremely well.
@@averagelizard2489 I know haha its just .. Sandro is a freaking legend , he's been there since HOM&M 1 , and then SOD main villan, regardless of skills he's got LOVE mate 😁
Ohh yes, I have missed the tier lists!
4:33 Nah, I am pretty sure Aine starts with Curse not a Magic Arrow.
I looked in up in Homm3, and yes, she actually starts with curse. (In HOTA)
I think you are wrong about sorcery skill. It is +5% with every level. So Malekith, Sandro, Zydar and Styg are the strongest magic characters in game.
I think the top 4 heroes on S tier should be on a tier of their own.
Quick question for anyone that can explain
Why is Vidomina a better choice for farming skeles than Isra? You said yourself Death Knights roll all the good skills, plus Isra is a might hero so wouldn't (s)he be better than Vidomina?
Casting spells is usually the best way to both travel and take fights. Haste, slow, animate dead will ensure your skeletons don't die, and Town portal/dimension door will ensure you take as many fights as possible for maximum value. Vidomina is generally better at casting the spells, hence I treat her better at that.
What's the reason why Aiken is top of the list? He starts with basic offense and armorer, so how could his only weakness be a lack of having offense?
he will not get a random skill at level 3 like crag hag and tazar does, and that random skill will probably be a dead skill. alkin is much more consistent he has 7 skills to choose a good one, crag hag and tazar only has 3 skills to choose from.
@@01gg01 Why would you get a random skill at 3 if you start with advanced non-wisdom? You can deflect that at level 2 already (though it's only one skill you gain randomly, so of course you could get something mediocre like ballistics or luck)
Please consider re-evaluating Clancy with a guest appearance of Fantom (in the role of an external expert/consultant) ;)
Elmor seems to have quite some simularities to Wiliam Turner from Potc. With advanced navigations he would be the perfect guy to take over the flying dutchman and not visit land in 10 years
One of my buddies is a Jeremy main. He just rushes with Jeremy week 1 and it's super annoying having to deal with that 300 hp cannon that early.
I dont know what you talking about if you dont put their initial skills and talent
Imagine calling Mullich fat. My dude, he barely looks like he's chubby. I guess with how twiggy all the other Castle heroes look he just stands out to be "fat", because of the norm being twigs.
Crag Hack is so Offensive, he will jump out of your monitor and b*tch slap your face the moment you see him in game.
Am I blind or he did not rank Giselle (interference specialist from Rampart)?
Edit: Nevermind, he ranked her at the end
Am I stupid or, according to the H3 Wiki, Beastmasters can roll for Offence and Captains can roll for Armorer? The latter being least possible, but STILL possible at some degree. Not like Barbarians and where they could NEVER roll for water for example or Beastmasters and Fire, etc. I guess having a small chance to get these skills are equal to NO chance whatsoever in Lexiu's head. Still, need to be more specific imo, if you are about to invest countless hours researching and making a video about it, but eh... who cares anyway? 😂
Also, "Miriam is the best captain in the game" - puts her below Jeremy and Illor 😂😂
Yog has ballistics because Cyclops are siege engines.
Galthran A Marius S?
Forgot Beatrice that replaces someone for Castle. Scouting specialty Knight
2 and a half hours, well let me bake something to eat
Sir Mullich is one of the developer of HoMM3. he is OP
I'm surprised Galthran isn't S-tier. He's like the primary Necro main.
me using the time i dont have to watch a tier list of heroes 3 heroes
yes
it's very funny when a lot of people correct Lexiawa when you pronounce or spell something .... And the truth is, he would spank you on a duel. Even with the hero's name misspelled ...
Dwarfes counter dragons and some higt tier close target enemy. Its good have to close your archers and stay to deffending them.
Development team went on rampage how big this game is
I know Halon suq, but when I play with my friends, I love playing him.
Another fun fact: Broghild, Dessa and Calid are also girls!
I like how he completely misremembered Uland's speciality and no one in chat corrected him. That really shows how bad that hero is lol.
cure, right?
Poor Vey... He doesn't have his new face. He is way better and stylish with it.
PS : Galthran not S ??! Why he got banned then :(
Thant higher than Galthran? Is this some kind of a joke?
Which town music is your favourite? Asking everyone
Dungeon and Fortress for me
i (am fascinated with myself for noticing) can't see Giselle , i know that Thorgrim is here and she is replacing him . But this is hota shouldn't i see here and not him.
Unless i blind and i missed something.
Some how her and Beatrice got missed. He said Giselle would be low S tier. He talks about it at the end.
where is Beatrice? 🤔
"Armorer is a skill that you don't really want to use if you don't have to".
Crazy. I was watching @1:34:50 while i play.. And i rolled her in my 2nd slot tavern.. Creepy when this happens
Do you happen to know how to unlock all heroes in HotA? I don't have access to all 176 on random maps
@@Lexiav Got it, thanks. Really good content, keep it up!
I couldn't get the point of putting Thant as a Super and Vidomina as a "A". Vidomina if by far 1 of the best heroes in the game and years ago when there was tournaments she was forbidden to play.
What about Beatrice....... The walking redwood observatory?
Got to the end and heard your placement of her
Orswald I recruited from tavern I remember and he is a overlord forgetful specialty. I think I remember that correctly, I dont have the save.
Charna has wrights specialty.😊
Is there a tier-list you haven't done yet?! :D
Oh, maybe there is... ULTIMATE RESOURCES LIST... Gold - S Tier XD
S: Gold
A: Stone, Mercury
B: Wood, Gems
C: Sulphur, Crystals
WHERE IS ASTRALL
