    I was a Shoe dept mgr, in the 70, and 80 sold men's Florsheim, and ladies Florsheim and other good brands. In regards to repairs I befriended my shoe repair guy, he was a SHOE MAKER. What an amazing experience, I would watch him make boots and shoes. Now that I am older I appreciate your videos soo much. Your knife skills are amazing.
    Regards, LEM

    Steve the shaking has never bothered me but listening to your story as a youngster, you saw a lot of things no child should ever have to witnessed. I'm most likely full of it but with all the bombs going off and young people you knew dying just might have something to do with it! Anyway back to something positive, I know you've been real busy with family and life in general & i've sure missed your videos and damn happy to get to watch to nice long videos back to back, also another stunning job and your boots look amazing..

      @Janette Hutton, in certain circumstances, I think that Steves shaking might actually be an advantage. I have noticed that when he's cutting thick leather, the constant "shake" allows a sawing motion or allows the pressure that's on the cutting edge of his knife to vary and allows for a more controlled cut. I worked with a Guy who also had a constant shake from childhood. He was a welder and the Tig welds that he could produce were second to none. His handwriting was practically illegible but his shaking in both hands made his welds the best that I have ever seen or tested. I learned a long time ago that some "disabilities" are actually "pro-abilities" and I am a disabled British War Pensioner.

I do love working with my hands but have never done anything like this before. I started drinking coffee at age 7 quit at age 45 due to severe caffeine related headaches .I am now coming up on my fifth year of coffee sobriety and I still shake but it’s more of a habit than “worry “ but definitely not nerves if you get what I’m saying.
    Like yourself, I am also an artist, and when we need to draw a bead, we do it definitely better than most.
    BTW, whenever you use that tool, it is a direct and higher communication to your Dad ,but his blood continues to live coursing through your veins anyway so 🙂 you can heal the same person. You are just another version of that same person so again he continues to live through you as his father did he. When I miss and want to see my father again I just look in the mirror.

    I love all of the "special" features/touches that you put in to your Boots (they need a name) are SWEET! You need to have a Hot Stamp made with your Dad's picture Logo on it, to brand on the bottoms or inside heels with your name (Bedo's). Could become a collectors shoe, just sayin for a friend...And you need to get that picture of your dad registered as a 'Trade Mark' before someone borrows it. Sad but it happens ...Maybe there's viewer on here that could do that for you. What a gift it would be. Love your work.

    • @marcnshawny
      @marcnshawny 2 года назад

      Great idea to mark his new custom shoe line. : ) Since his "Trade Mark" is a drawing, could he just copyright it by sending it to himself in the mail so it's dated, postmarked and left unopened? A friend of mind did that for the graphic designs he created for his tattoo business. It used to hold up in court.

    Watching a machinist that has been handling the 'lay' for piece layout is interesting, there are programmes that do the work for you - but on occasion a smart machinist will spot some improvements, or where they may fit additional pieces to make the most of fabric. And that is, for high tech garments, where the money is.

    I am glad your doing something for yourself. Too many times, the craftsman is the last person to get anything done, for him or herself. I knew a plumber who had plumbing in his own house, that he would never have done to a customer of his. Yet, year after year, he just put patches, and small get-by fixes, to his own plumbing. Also, Some finish carpenters I have known, their own homes are not even close to having all the trim, and mop boards, or moldings all installed and finished.
    So when I saw you putting some real love, and time, and money into fixing up your work boots, I thought to myself, You go Steve. I hope your other boots will one day get made, before you get too old to wear them out. Cheers from Michigan.
    P.S. There was a guy making youtube a while back from California, called Brian the Bootmaker. I think the shop he was working out of got sold by the owner, and I am not sure what has happened to all the tools in his shop, or, if Brian has found himself a new place to build boots in. BUT .. the reason I mention him is, it might be fun for you to look at some of his old RUclips, and reinforce what you know about boot making. Just for fun.

    It kind of cracks me up how he portrays himself as a beginner. Bro you grew up watching your dad make shoes! Look at your shop!! Lol

    You should give a free shoe rebuild for the first view to find the original Hammer time comment. I saw it the first time, it would be fun to see it again.

    I love when we get to see a customer reaction. And the reverence and love you show your father is a great example for others, along with the fact that you help any other cobblers that ask you for advice and knowledge. Love your channel.
