  • Many of you saw ‪@HoustonJones‬ AKA the Invincible Man AKA Bodybuilder VS AKA The Human Steel Wall AKA Bro Labs, Kick my tail in an MMA sparring match the other day and also he wrestled with ‪@WonderboyMMA‬ and had some kickboxing sparring with him! ‪@WonderboyMMA‬ helps me and Houston get acclimated to 1) wrestling in general for me 2) wrestling and using the cage for ‪@HoustonJones‬ and 3) using the cage to your advantage when it comes to solid takedown defense using the cage!
Wonderboy has fought some awesome wrestlers and takedown masters like Tyron Woodley, Johnny Hendricks, Matt Brown and more, so he had some awesome takedown defense tips for how to keep the fight standing in MMA. I also talk about taking multiple styles and how you can always add more to your Martial Arts Style!!

Striking is more flashy and it's faster to become better at I would say but even someone who's untrained can have a chance of touching someone who strikes even if they ultimately get knocked out or defeated. But wrestling, I've never felt more helpless than someone I couldn't out wrestle
Tl;DR striking with strong take down defense 😂

You can do that! Just find a good local gym and someone you recognise will train there if it's a good gym! Everyone who trains was once a white belt so start now and the sooner your start the sooner you will be a black belt and know all the true pro martial artists and fighters who goto your gym or who your gym is affiliated with or knows and by time your a black belt you will have a big web of connections and people you know who are black belts or tournament winners or pro fighters etc etc BUT if you never join a gym and never start training somewhere you definitely will never meet someone!

  • @weshardy1063

That was a great video. When I learned to defend takedowns I had 2 of my fighters attack relentlessly for 5 minute rounds. As soon as one tired the other jumped in. Super tiring, forces better footwork, and you can "see" the strikes better as you become more fluid with your escapes. Mantis style was a grappling style of Kung Fu...most are unaware of this. Luckily my teacher was not...Great work Sensei Seth.

I think this is a very good argument for "MMA is it's own Martial Art". Because you can have a striking coach, a wrestling coach and a Jits coach, but that knowledge and work with the cage and space is unique to MMA. A high-level college wrestling coach isn't necessarily the best choice in learning how to stuff a take-down with your back against the cage - or how beneficial it is to crab yourself back to the cage to use it to help you get up.
    Enjoying your videos.

Coach coach coach coach. Be quiet and listen.
There are several studies that show 15° out of the range of motion your increase cardiovascular endurance or strength and you don’t educate the reflex so the best exercise in training for what you’re trying to do is do it simple is that what you’re trying to do the rough times you can execute it all commands. No low oxygen levels or blood gas levels. Or a completely different issue. Breathing and meditation and the only way to get that under control. It’s not by tons and tons and tons of cardio it’s just control your breathing. You’re getting way too tight coach start doing some stretching go back to your roots. You can thank me later sensei Jeff
