Really? A 90 class saw with a 20” bar. Talk about pointless It genuinely makes me wonder why guys have a big ass hoss of a saw and run a dinky bar on it I run a 36” on my 395
because I use it as a reliable saw to junk firewood kinda pointless carrying a saw this big in the woods but hey if a long bar on a big saw makes ya feel special I guess.... I changed sprocket to make it faster and its untouchable junking big firewood
The more teeth on a chain, the less load per tooth it can handle. Whereas the less teeth on the chain, the more load per tooth it can handle. 92cc with a 20” bar, drop the depth gauge (rakers) and hold on, it will cut fast.
Hello! I know the video is older but I've a question. Why do You run a short 20" bar on such a big strong saw? 20" would fit much better to 562xp for example. The rpms are limited in the brake in time on the 592 as I heard. After certain hours it revs higher. Regards, Wolfgang
I was using a 3/8 9 tooth rim sprocket on my 592XP with tungsten chain bucking Iron Bark in Australia. The biggest trouble I had with the higher tooth counts was keeping teeth on my chains. The higher speed was demolishing chains. So I’ve gone back to the standard 7 tooth.
@@BurninGas8.1 Oregon chains beat Stihl chains 10 to 1. The Stihl chain has a hump in front of the cutting tooth, you can file or grind it down, it makes your junk Sthil chain cut quicker, and last longer. @@BurninGas8.1 It would be "You're" crazy. As I said. I've been cutting wood, and sharpening chains before you were born. I've sharpened more chains than you've seen. Stihl chains are designed poorly Professional loggers always use Oregon chains because they last longer and cut better.

I've always said since the 592xp came out, just take advantage of the rotation and torque with a bigger pin, mine never ran with a pin of 7, only with a pin of 8 and I know that there are pins of 9 and 10, but they do not come out of the factory originals
Exactly my thoughts on mine, geared way to low. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just meant for a real bar. I use a 24” and even that’s kinda dinky for a big saw.
It might be too large diameter for bar butt and could lead to chain derailerements. I'm also long time ago installed 8t sprocken on the Stihl MS500i when working with a bar up to 20". On the 25"bar can be used 8t but it will have high chainspeed with moderate torque. As for 592xp/xpg. Just scored a nice deal with a local shop and I'm certain that after first tank of gas i'll install 8t on that beast.
Will try that with my 592. I’m experiencing the same symptoms as you in the smaller wood running a 24” bar. Did you have to add a link to the chain or did it fit ok with the 8 tooth sprocket?
He put a one tooth bigger sprocket on save yourself the 8 1/2 minutes

Hard to not hit rev limiter limbing. It loves big timber for sure.
8 tooth helps
But didn't you have problems with low cue at low revolutions?
No

Have you tried stihl chains they are made of harder steel then all the rest

572 with an 8 pin, i would really like to hear u on that.
why?
Just ran my new 592xp today for the 1st time.. 24" bar 1st thought was that it needs a 8 pin.. got one ordered off eBay for $7
Is it the same sprocket as the 572? Whats the part number?
I didnt look at 572 yet its just a 8 tooth 3/8 sproket

It might but your 395 is probably more reliable as my 592 blew up with 40hrs on it
You would be happier with a stihl 500i if your just bucking wood with a 20” bar.
I doubt that

how does the sprocket increase speed im not quite understanding..
Same as a dirt bike its hooked to crank so the larger it is the faster the chain goes
