    I literally started crying once I hit the play button.. Kobe left so much positive energy behind.. It's like he's still here motivating and inspiring people all around the world.. I'm blessed and honored to have watch that kid grow into a man right before my eyes.... God bless..

    I've seen that clip of Kobe a million times. but I don't think it touched my heart more than tonight. he was so happy to show his appreciation to his brother Pau. and you can see the love and admiration they had for each other when the speak of each other. another reminder of how special they're brotherhood was, how humble and gracious Pau is and how much I love and miss Bean. congrats Pau and THANK YOU!! 💜💛

    I’ll never forget when we traded for Pau Gasol.
    One of the most lopsided trades in NBA history, & even though I knew that the Lakers had become substantially better after that trade, never in my wildest dreams could I have expected what would follow.
    In Gasol’s first three years with the Lakers, he helped lead them to three straight Finals appearances, & back to back championships.
    Thank you Pau for all the great memories.
    You were always phenomenal on & off the court, & very deserving of being honored like this.

    As a Spaniard, very proud of him. He played with pride for Spain for so many years, leading Spain to become a championship team as well. European titles a world title and Olympic medals.     Underappreciated but never forgotten. Him arriving to LA instantly made them a contender and as much as Mamba and Phil elevated him, he made everyone around him better as well. 0 weaknesses in his game and a true post technician.

      The only weakness in his game initially was that he was soft. That was the issue in 2008, he was getting bullied in the post by KG. 2009/10 pau was so different that pau had no flaws. A straight killer. That’s the reason why Kobe knew to run into gasol chest during the 2008 Olympics because he knew gasol was soft at that point and it would discourage the other players. All in all gasol became a legend and elevated his game thanks to Kobe and Phil. And made Kobe a better teammate and leader

    Pau was one of my favorite players growing up even in his days with the Grizzlies, such an underrated player he was a one of the best PF in an era which featured KG, Tim Duncan, Dirk and never backed down from a challenge. Glad that his jersey is now retired and him being recognized.

    Great speech and recognition for one of the good guys in the NBA. The Blazers signed him a few years back but he wasn't able to play and only spent a half season with the team but you could tell he was well liked and respected by all the players and staff. Classy dude.

    Amazing ceremony. It sucks i didn't have time to watch their greatness back then. I just watched their finals against KG/Pierce/Ray Allen Celtics and it is one of my favorite all time finals series. I shed tears on this one. Kobe up there is watching and happy

    I’ll always remember the day my dad told me the Lakers got Pau. And us talking about his godly stat line playing at Memphis. Then when we saw the product on the court with Kobe you could tell almost immediately that Mamba was in love 😂

      Who said that? They were back to back champs and they needed Pau to actually do it. Kobe couldn't do it by himself. I remember Kobe being like a big brother to Pau, pushing him when necessary. Pau was a good player before going to the Lakers but Kobe had him in beast mode during his time with the Lakers.

    I hate cutting onions in these sort of things. Gasol-Kobe was a force to be recognized in those playing days. Not only did these two elevated each other.. They became one of the best duos to ever do it.

    Pau was a great player before coming to LA but he became a Laker great when in the 2nd finals series against the Celtics he stepped up his intensity, focus and toughness. The game asked him to step up and he answered the call. He's totally deserves that honor, he worked hard and executed for it.

    I was 17 years old and a senior in high school when we traded for Pau. For a 2-3 years there we were bad with one of the greatest players to ever play but that trade changed EVERYTHING. And I knew it right away. Ill never forget that day, coming home from school, turning on sportscenter and seeing the BREAKING NEWS. Pao was the man, and he brought us 2 rings. What a legend. Well deserved Pau, felicidades.

    You can't imagine how amazing this is for us spaniards. He made the impossible look achievable for us, not just to play in the best leage of the world, to became a champion and to get his jersey retired in one of the best franchises. Now it doesn't seem like something impossible, but back in the 90's, when all of us fell in love with the nba thanks to Jordan and his Bulls, it was absolutely unthinkable. GRANDE PAU!!!!

    This franchise was in turmoil before Pau came over. Kpbe wanted out. Wanted a trade. The team was struggling. It was ugly. I remember. As soon as Pau came over, we did a 180 and balled out. Pau was such a perfect fit with Kobe. Kobe helped Pau with more of a killer instinct and Pau helped Kobe as well. Pau is the one of the kindest, selfless, classiest players in NBA history

    Soy de Barcelona, vi a Pau jugar en la famosa Copa de Rey en el año 2001. A parte de sre uno de los mejores jugadores de la historia, siempre ha sido digno de admirar como persona. Recuerdo como se hizo famoso en Memphis, una franquicia sin exitos que hizo tal impacto que daban barbas de mentira para que la gente entrará al estadio. Esa jugada con Garnet, esos juegos olimpicos contra USA, ese partido contra Francia con 40 puntos y sobretodo esos dos anillos con los Angeles Lakers. Gracias Pau de corazón por lo que has hecho por el basquet y por ser como eres.

    Pau was remarkable. His numbers, and even his highlights don't capture how good he really was. But if you watched the Lakers from 2008 - 2012, you know the tremendous impact he had on a nightly basis. Also he was the best player, by far, in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals. Forever an LA legend, and I'm so glad I was able to watch him growing up.
