For us, the Spanish people, Kobe will always have a place in our hearts. He won two championships with our Pau and, on the other hand, he led the Team USA against our national team in Beijing 2008 and London 2012. He defeated us but, at the end of the day, it was a situation what we felt proud of, for the greatness of the Spanish team and for the great rivalry with the States. Great memories, no doubts.

I remember my mom called me that day, & i could barely even speak words I was crying so hard. Kobe was my hero. I'll never forget you Kobe. & as my son ages I'll be sure he knew about you & how great you were on & off the court.

I’m glad that history is respecting the duo that Kobe and Pau were. I’ll be honest as a Laker fan before Pau came to the Lakers in the 07-08 season I hadn’t watched a lot of games with him but man once he became a Laker he became one of my favorite players of all time. you could tell the difference he made on the team and the difference that he meant to Kobe almost instantly. I really wish looking back that we could’ve got him on the Lakers two years earlier because I believe that those two guys could have won three championships together giving Pau three rings and Kobe six rings. Man after they beat the Celtics in 2010 I just knew they were going to three peat the next season. That whole season I had already in my mind watched the Lakers beat LeBron James and Miami Heat to finish off that three peat and when it didn’t happen as a Laker fan it crushed me. but I am very thankful that those two guys got to play together because I have re-watched those two finals probably more than any other NBA finals. I remember where I was both times that they won those two championships. That was definitely a special team. I’m not going to say that it’s the best lineup ever but it’s probably my favorite lineup ever.

definitely a fun lineup. while i sometime look back and wonder "what if kobe answered garnett's call," i always thank gasol for what he brought to LA. wish they didnt just treat him and odom like a trade piece towards the end there.

As close as they were, I was surprised he didn’t’ speak at the Memorial service. Kobe was much closer to Pau than he was to Shaquille.

When you think about the perfect duo, Kobe & Pau complemented each other beautifully and it’s no surprise that they were able to win back-to-back titles. When those two were clicking, the Lakers were unbeatable and that connection was special. 👏

The fact that Kobe went to 3 straight finals with Pau Gasol (who was a far cry from Shaq) and from 2008-2010 they beat 10 50 win teams in the playoffs, will forever be underrated. Pau Gasol's FG% went from 50% to 59% the year after being traded to the Lakers and playing with Kobe in the pick and roll. Much can be said about this all time great Duo. Their personal relationship on film reignited the sadness in me, I loved seeing Pau and Kobe in the pick and roll. Kobe is the Greatest and Best Basketball Player of all time.
