As a kid who had at the time just moved to Texas from SoCal, I got the privilege of going home for a summer and celebrating the 2010 championship with my dad. Moments like that I will never forget! Thank you Pau for the years you put into the team. You mean a great deal to us!
Jerry West was the GM of the Grizzlies. I think it was his idea since Kobe was threatening to leave the Lakers for wasting years off of his prime. Jim Buss & Mitch Kupchack are directly responsible for that. So Kobe's good friend & mentor sent him a stimulus package, in the form of Pau Gasol, in exchange for Kwame Brown, the rights to Marc Gasol, and some others. Mitch Kupchack would never come up with this by himself. He was a solid scrappy player though. He made some good plays in Boston to help us win the title in 1985.
Why they retire his jersey and not Derek Fisher's ? Cuz he is white i guess. He was so soft, he was just a decent player. There are so many better other former lakers that should have their jersey retired. My goodness!
Found the hater. Derek was a good fourth option on the team and he averaged 8 points a game. Pau was the number 2, avereging 18 pts and immediately got the Lakers to be championship contenders. You must not remember those seasons really good if you think it's because he's "white."
