I hope you could tell how excited my husband is about this book. He kept going on about it in the kitchen. 😁
Hey Melanie. How how are you and the kids doing? I do that all the time when talking about Spider-Man , Batman or the horror genre. Shows Omar is passionate and in love for this hobby.😁
😂
@@stephentheshywarrior2759 Thanks for asking. The girls are doing just fine with the transition back to school. They went back last week. I will be worn out every day this week with my school starting Wednesday. What's your favorite horror stories?
God no
@@astonishingmelanie Film wise cannot beat Childs play/ Chucky franchise, The Omen, Aliens or Poltergiest 1+2. Imo the classics pack more of a scare factor although saying that I don't scare easily😄
Book wise probably Walking Dead but I need to read more comics that are horror based. Any recommendations?
But if we are talking gaming Resident evil all the way. I 'm kinda passionate about that last one😁
Now we need a Magneto Omnibus… certainly the 2nd best Marvel Villain after Dr Doom
Perfect timing, I'm getting my DM copy of this omni tomorrow! Shout out to MF DOOM too.
I loved Byrne’s take where it’s revealed that the people of Latveria truly love Doctor Doom because they have no hardships as long as they obey Doom without question, a small price to pay for a worry free existence
True. All evil schemes aside he’s a good leader…
Sounds like Putin.
@@FrankCastlesConscience Except if you know anything about Russia, that’s not the case under Putin where journalists who criticized him have been killed.
@@FrankCastlesConscience except Putin is good
@@FrankCastlesConscience I’d say more like Kim Jong Un. Remember, Doom has set his state as completely autonomous, recognizing no international treaties or organizations. Everything he provides is from Latveria. Sounds more like N Korea than Russia.
Never read any FF and only know of Dr Doom via cartoons and movies. This made me want to buy the book and dive into what I've been missing!
I wasn’t really into the FF and Doom until I read Jonathan Hickman’s FF omnibus’ Vol 1 and 2. Also Hickman’s Avengers/New Avengers and Secret Wars opened my eyes to what a great characters Doom and the FF really are. I couldn’t recommend those books more highly to anyone, great reads.
A good release! Wich gives me hope that one day they will make a Magneto omnibus, my favorite mutant, and one of the most complex characters in Marvel!
a great collection of some of the best silver age and bronze age creators: Kirby, Lee, Byrne, Simonson, Stern, Michelinie, JRJR, and more..very cool.
Triumph and Torment is so under appreciated! I’ve also told whoever would listen it’s the best strange or doom story! It’s one of the best marvel graphic novels ever written.
Mine is coming tomorrow, so im liking this preview ahead of time! Triumph and Torment, Emperor Doom and Books of Doom are what I am loving in this collection.
Edit:I love how one of the extras is literally Quotes by Doom with series and issue number for reference lol
What an irresistible book! I wasn't planning on getting this one, but it looks so damn good ...
Yes!!! Triumph and Torment is collected. Loved that
I don’t normally go in for omni double dipping but this package is so tempting! So many fantastic writers and artists. And the better paper stock and build just might get me over the line. Thanks Omar!
It is finally going to be mine!!!
Currently reading Lee/Kirby's FF omni vol 3, and one of the best parts of it is reading all the letters people wrote to Marvel, particularly about Doom. Probably 90% of them were either about him or Thing.
Been looking forward to this overview! Already pre-ordered this one!
Definitely picking this up, big thanks for the review
Finally I have been waiting for this one all summer
I've had this on pre-order for so long! Can't wait to get my hands on it. Thanks for the seek peek Omar!
I've got this pre-ordered so can't wait to get my hands on it!
Just got my DM copy of this Omnibus and im so excited. Doom is my favorite Marvel villain and his origin story is so fucking good!
"Return to your own world knowing that this one belongs to Doom."
I need this! It's one of my most anticipated books of the year. I feel like Omar and I have similar tastes, which is again partly why I finally bought the New Warriors Omni too.
I hope we get a Mark Waid Fantastic Four omnibus
This looks badass!
I'll be buying this Book soon... Unfortunately😞 I missed this book on my Preorder😵💫...This Doom Book Is A Must Buy 👍... Big Thanks Again Omar 😁💜
Its BEAUTIFUL.
really happy to get this one finally
Can't wait for mine to arrive.
Finally got mine today! The direct market cover!
Now you've flipped through it Omar, I'm tempted to get this one. Though it does double dip with all the early FF omni stuff I have, though I'm missing all those later stories from my collectio. Shame Astonishing Tales missing a couple of issues. Those are Doctor Doom vs Red Skull ones too - where the later invades Latveria.
Excited for this one. Worth it for the two graphic novels and the beyond(er?) badass Book of Doom mini.
This looks great.
DR. DOOM : MMM...FOOD
I can't wait to pick this up at my LCS!!!
Omar i can not freakin wait for my preordered copy to come in.
I really like this idea of kind of a greatest hits edition. I wish they did this more often mixing the old with the new
Thats strange i didnt get the upload notification. I Def want this book along with Black Panther omnibus!
I will get this one. I will probably have to wait until the time is right. Probably might get it next year.
This is my most anticipated Omnibus alongside Ultimate Spider-Man Doctor Doom is my favorite CB villain and while it double dips, this is the one time I'm indulging. Namely, because it contains my favorite CB of all time Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom truimph and Torment and yes I own multiple takes of this but I don't care. It's a phenomenal story(alongside the ones collected) that deserve to be read in oversized format.
I was waiting for this! One complaint I have is that it barely goes over the Super Villain Team Up run, collecting only the giant size 1-2 and 13 and 14 from the subsequent series. There are a lot of great stories prior to those, but then again one can just pick up Super Villains Unite if interested. I just ordered my copy.
Just got a copy of this as well.
I am SO devastated.......this is out of print already and I missed out on a copy......looks amazing!!!
You bugging? It’s available on certain websites. Ain’t OOP
There seems some stories that I wish were included like when doom stole the ss powers and flew his board, doom vs the avengers, doom vs thor.
There are just to many good doom stories and I hope that if they do another volume or any future combo books like this, is that they let the readers house instead of the editors.
I ordered the standard edition because of Greg land's cover and this is due to be delivered on Tuesday.
Great review as always.
They should do another, doom has a lot of material, including doomwar with black panther and the infamous Ironman, Among others.
MF DOOM would’ve loved this ❤️.
Imma get this for him.
The one thing that really bugged me about Victor von Doom was that he was wrapped up in saving his mother from He'll when it was his Father that gave up his life to keep him alive!!!!!
The missing Astonishing Tales issues 4-5 are collected in the ultra rare Marvel Masterworks Marvel Rarities vol.1.
Pre ordered my DM copy in January.
I do hope we get a 2nd one that includes things like Doctor Doom & The Masters of Doom, the Heroes Reborn Doctor Doom arc, God King Doom issues, Emperor Doom etc.
the good doctor has rapidly become one of my overall favorite characters
I never read Books of Doom or Triumph and Torment. Getting collected editions of either cost more than what I paid for this omnibus. I'm so excited and can't wait until it arrives.
Love that deadly genesis dig 😂
I’m a big fan of the idea of a tiny scar but him being a narcissist.
That’s why I loved Jugsaw in the Punisher show. Minor scars but he is such a psychopath.
Looks like a great collection. I have it PO'd myself. Only thing I am sad about is that infamous Iron man isnt included. I think it would fit pretty well and tpbs are out of stock everywhere.
Perhaps a good book for those who are not familiar with Doctor Doom, but looking at the mapping it does feel a bit random. It's kind of like a "best of Doom" collection, rather than a cohesive story about Doom. Still I like a lot of what's collected here, but as someone with a lot of FF omnis and Epics already, I can't justify buying an omnibus that double dips quite a lot.
I would have liked to see issues 198-200 in this collection. Great memories from my childhood. Cover for issue 200 is way iconic. Surprised issues from Secret Wars made it in (seems odd and too incomplete for me).
You are absolutely right, I remember those issues
hell yes !!
I was on the fence about purchasing this omni since I already own the Triumph & Torment and Books of Doom in collected editions. However, after your overview, I must get this. So many other great stories and it will look good on my shelf.
The Marvel Rarities Masterworks has all of the Astonishing Tales issues so I’m curious as to why some were excluded here
1 of the Greatest Marvel villains 🔥
Can't forget Magneto, Thanos, and Apocalypse.
Thanos already has an Omnibus like this one.
I passed on it since most of the book double dips with other omni's, but it's a damn fine book🧐
Sidenote: the Waid and Ringo FF run deserves an omni so much. The Doom part is great but so is the rest.
It has one. Just OOP right now.
@@NearMintCondition I kinda wondered about that, thanks, bud. Definitely deserves a reprint.
I’m surprised they didn’t go with a Jim Lee cover, he’s had some amazing renditions of Doom.
He really does draw the best villains in a chair.
@@NearMintCondition ha you knew exactly the piece I was talking about 👍
Forget jim lee. I was disappointed they never got alex ross to do the cover
As someone who has acquired the triumph and torment and books of doom and the master of doom and all the stories with him in tpb and hardcover format over 6 years and had my friends jelly over it. Now my Dr doom collection is matched by my friends with 1 book now 😂😑
I don't know if you'll read this as I know I'm late in responding to your video. I only just finished reading this book after receiving it late due to my usual supplier messing up my order. I've noticed an oversight regarding the Triumph and Torment graphic novel - fantastic story!!! but I digress....... Although the back cover of the dust jacket has been printed; which contained copy (intro?) by Ralph Macchio, unfortunately the substantial copy by John Byrne printed over both flaps of the dust jacket has been ignored.
I used to liaise with Jeph York via the Collected Editions (ex Marvel Masterworks) website about content but I think he's been unavailable for a while now. I know I'm blowing my own trumpet as we say in the UK but the very last page of the Earth X Omega Omnibus has two text pieces: the first one should have been included in the Earth X Alpha Omnibus, hence the awkwardly squashed lay out as it was added very late in the process - but that was due to me communicating with Jeph York. I've informed Jeph of other obscure content for potential publications: some which has already been overlooked by the time of publication as that is when I get to read it.
I know it's too late to do anything about the John Byrne copy now but maybe future reprints could correct it. I know you have a direct line to David Gabriel and are in a position to do something about it.
Thank you for your time.
C'mon Marvel, where is that Kang Omnibus!
ManOwaR - Hail And Kill
For me this would just be an expensive exercise in double dipping as I have most of this in other collections.
So we've gotten omnibus for Thanos, Loki, Carnage and now Doctor Doom. We've also gotten those characters who go back and forth between hero and villain or at least go on a journey between the two, such as Venom, Jean Grey/Phoenix, Namor and The Punisher. Are there any other villains with enough stories to collect into an omnibus? Surely Magneto and Kingpin have enough stories to merit their own omnibus. Have other villains such as Doctor Octopus, the Red Skull, the Green Goblin, Galactus, the Sentinels, Sabertooth, Mystique, Mister Sinister or Apocalypse got enough for their own ominibus? Have their stories already been collected in an omnibus such as X-Men Age of Apocalypse. Are more villain centric omnibus even a good idea? Are there some great villain centric runs that deserve the gallery edition treatment? I for one am definitely adding this Doctor Doom omnibus to my big book list.
I can finally get T&T!
Any dream omnibuses of this type on your list?
Magneto? Green Goblin? Thanos?
Definitely want Magneto
They already have a Thanos origin omni
Id love a,Kingpin omni
@@fishin4bass2002 oh thank you! That’s exciting :D
@@sergioruiz733 oh man thatd be a good one
New to collecting.
So far I picked up the *1984* & *2015* runs of *Secret Wars*
Just ordered *Fantastic Four omnibus Vol 1* & *Book Of Doom*
Had intended to grab the *Batman Knightfall trilogy* but appears they're hard to get hold of.
Any tips on where to go next with what to collect?
Ahhhhhhhhhhh, Marvel did the DM cover by John Byrne just to get me. They know me TOO well.
DOOM approves!
My only problem is these kinds of omnis is that they don’t tell a cohesive story. Does the waid FF issues include the entire story or just parts? Having random issues might not be good because you might not fully understand what’s going on because it skipped what happened before.
Ryan WIlson That's a good point. I know the Waid FF issues as I have the Omnibus for that entire run but yeah; for a newcomer I'd say anthology Omnibuses can be confusing especially if they want continuity. That's why I'd say if you really love a particular character and are willing to overlook that problem go for it(I know I will). Other wise, skip it especially if you are double dipping. The reason why I'm willing to double dip is because my favorite CB of all time is bundled inside and I will never get sick of getting it.
Uhhh...i reallyyy hate that. I read a story thats really good and then thats it. The next story skips to something else. Its sucks
Exactly! Also the omnis collecting a particular writer's run are pretty frustrating. They skip issues which doesn't help. I prefer Epic Collections.
@@ComicsCompanion They should make complete title runs like Amazing Spiderman...X-Men..etc. makes it easier to read a 2 part story instead of wondering...wtf is this story now.
@@robd1329 Yeah! One feels like collecting those omnis. 35-40 consecutive issues makes for a good read.
I like the dm cover more, but I like the standard spine better. Hate when this happens
Didn't Victor von Doom looked a little bit like Errol Flynn without the mustache?
Somebody Say "Casey Jones?" :)
Sad that it doesn't include the "Private War of Dr Doom". :(
As. dr Strange collector I’m annoyed Triumph and Torment is only here and not in the Sorcerer Supreme omnis
I wish DC would make one of these for Darkseid
As of Xmas 2022 this book is becoming increasingly hard to find at or below cover price
When I woke up this morning and was having coffee I thought I was watching this video from you but it was less then 5 minutes long. Well when I wiped the sleep from my eyes I realized it wasn't you but another youtuber with what I thought was a similar logo to yours. Well after hearing this knothead for all of 30 seconds I clicked off. Don't need to watch the D team when you are the A team.
Should have included FF 200 and the Doom Superior Iron man run instead of Secret wars
They left out the two Doom miniseries by Chuck Dixon.
Is this the one art by leo manco?
Yes.
Very interesting and seems nice I enjoyed your video nice job 👍. Do you think this book will be a good investment for the future? Do you think it's value will increase overtime ?
Where can I buy this? I can’t find it anywhere
Unfortunately it’s out of print.
How is the eye of the spine in this one? That's the one thing I keep missing in these reviews nowadays. For me, it's such an important aspect of these books and soooo relevant to the reading experience and durability of these costly books.
If Omar doesn't show the spine, you can safely assume the binding is super tight and there isn't an eye. He is not only sponsored by Marvel and getting these books for free, but his exclusive coverage of new Marvel announcements is a major driver of his channel. If a book has crappy construction, he isn't going to show that and lose one of his biggest sponsors. If you want an unbiased opinion of the book, you need to look elsewhere.
I have a lot of the older Marvel omnis and the quality of the binding overall has gone downhill. Marvel used to do FULLY SEWN bindings that didn't require any glue reinforcement. It resulted in the pages themselves laying nearly flat and zero gutter loss. You don't see that anymore.
I am editing this because I finally saw the eye. That is awesome. I don't watch the entire omni preview videos unless I have already read the material so I don't get spoiled. The eye shot didn't show up in a thumbnail. I admit I was wrong here, but I stand by my earlier statement about Marvel omni bindings in general getting very tight.
Thank you both! Usually I only watch the first section, until the stories are presented. I avoid that for the experience of reading them myself. Instead I check the thumbnails of the search bar for spine eyes and such. But here I saw none.
That was a great eye. My latest omnies (Silver age X-men) where sadly glued sooo stiff. But this looks promesing!
@@km123m8 Damn, I missed that in the thumbnails. I didn't want to watch the whole video in case of spoilers.
@@maximusmagni1 I also think you might be a bit unfair to Omar here. I suppose that what you say about the sponsorship relation has merit. However, I do feel that Omar definetly do bring up things he does not like about the book he is reviewing. Such as spine issues, or when an omnibus dubbledipps so much that it's just not worth it. And so on.
@@horrudu4081 Omar certainly brings up double-dipping, but I don't think that has a negative connotation. Marvel makes a lot of books that are almost entirely double-dipping. Those books are for the casual collector and not the person with 100+ omnis.
The spine issue is different and feel like an idiot that I started this topic at the wrong time when Marvel actually has a great spine, unlike the new Thor by Jason Aaron.
Well…. I really wasn’t going to buy this Omni. Really I wasn’t. But once again, you talked me into it. And you weren’t even wearing the suit. That’s what I don’t understand.😄
20:09 In this books with old content is different paper than in with new one.
This is the kind of book that would make for a really good first omni.
Not for me
Great content but I have almost 100% of the content in other books and probably 50% in omnibus so I’m passing on this.
Some annoying omissions. I would have preferred Books of Doom and collect it all in two volumes.
