AMPED UP! - How to Wire LS SWAP Interior Fuse Panel + BLOWER MOTOR - UTX

  • Today at Ugly Truck, we're wiring up the interior fuse box and blower motor on this 1984 Chevy C10 5.3 LS swap. The original junction lug on the firewall and using the blower fuse on the LS factory fuse block makes it easy and makes sure that circuit is protected. Jerry answers a bunch of questions about LS swap power distribution, when and how to use fusible link, and the safest way to connect and disconnect the battery.

    I really like the way you do your videos it's so well explained. Thank you. I've been working on my swap. Need some pointers. Thanks in advance.
    I'm putting a 02 6.0 vortec truck motor in my 99 jeep cherokee. Would it be easier to use both fuse boxes or just run everything over to the doner fuse box? I'm trying to keep all my factory gauges.

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  5 месяцев назад

      Hey Robert. If I was doing that swap, I would keep both of the boxes to begin with. Once you have it up and running, I would start to eliminate some of the circuits that we're in the original jeep box. The 2002 box is easier to run the headlamps from and wouldn't be surprised if some of the other circuits would be fairly simple. I would just do it in steps with the goal to eliminate as much of the 99 box as possible. Hope that makes sense. Keep us posted. Sounds like a great swap. Jerry and Emily

    Currently in process of doin ls swap in my 84 k10 that’s been converted to 3/4 ton and nv4500 swap. This video helped out a bit to get supplied power to the blower since I did eliminate the junction block from firewall. Niw I need to get in there and figure out the a/c circuit when I get to putting a/c back in. I seen there are some wires that were not needed in the older circuit trucks (I.e green smaller pink brown and so on. I understand I’m just trying to get it to run but also like many others I’m adding a bunch led lighting and upgraded horns daytime running lights and so on. I’m basically building my dream truck in an old body.

      Thanks for watching Jason. We have some videos that talk about the AC and also the headlamps. Sounds like you are going to have a great truck. Jerry and Emily

    I'm running a Holley Term X Ecu. Can the wiring you do with a donor fuse box , relays etc be used with an aftermarket ECU?

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  7 месяцев назад

      Hey Del. Absolutely. If I was running that setup, that is exactly what I would do. The 2002 and earlier boxes are a little more user friendly when It comes to wiring other things that you might want from the box like headlights for example. We appreciate you watching and thanks for your comments. Jerry

    Jerry, just letting you know that the check valves from evel energy didn’t work for very long. I ended up using some from fuel lab they hold high pressure and high flow thanks for everything

    If you run a fusible link larger than the recommended 4 sizes does it negate its ability to work?
    On my power wire to lug #2 I’ve used an extra 8awg fusible link that I pulled off an extra alternator circuit. (The red box with the blk fusible link)

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  6 месяцев назад

      Hey Tony. If your using lug #2 you will have a fuse protecting that circuit, so it wouldn't really matter. That large fusible link will carry that circuit with no problems and not really act as a fuse but won't hurt anything. Jerry

    Was the connector you plugged into the fuse for the blower motor from the donor tahoe or did you buy it online? If you bought it online can you share the link? I posted a question about fusable links on your FB page and this video is so helpful. I think Ill be able to do my first startup test on my 85 c10 this weekend because of this video! Thanks so much

      Hey Paddy! We saved that little connector from the donor. I tried looking online and didn't see much for sale, but it's a Delphi (Aptiv) 15393171. You may be able to find one through Ebay or a salvage yard. It's connector 7 on the wiring diagrams. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for running this topic. It took a while, but it finally dawned on me that the blower motor circuit was speshull and was not powered by the fuse panel in the cab. Now I get why you showed so much concern about circuit protection for the blower motor wiring.
    For information purposes, back in the donor vehicle, Stud/Lug #2 supplies power to the wire going through the firewall and terminates next to the Instrument Panel Relay Panel and does... nothing; it's just a HOAT wire that's there in case you want to put in a trailer brake controller, etc. Also there are the trailer Stop Light and the Trailer Park Lights, but not to worry; they're fused.(eyeroll at HOAT "blunt cut" wires under the dash)
    Stud/Lug #1 simply goes back to the trailer lights connector at the back, next to the hitch receiver. Somehow sanity prevailed and there is no power on this wire; there is a red plastic block there instead of a fuse.
    As always, informative and fun to watch.
