For the people downvoting this, Polygon is a gaming news outlet. Their job is to cover new games. Don't rage just because they're not participating in your little boycott.
Not sure what worth there is in covering this mistake of an asset flip, and you'd expect Polygon to have some selectivity in the games they cover given next to nobody even cared about this game's release (at least with regards to actually buying it).

Honestly this video does a good job pointing out the flaws of the game. Good job making it look as boring and arbitrary as the company who crapped it out!
I haven't played to many of the metal gear games, but really like survival games. This ones ok... I've play through the whole campaign and recently started multiplayer. Enemies get a lot harder, also there is a large variety of them. Some enemies have special effects like camouflage or invincibility. One of which called Tracker is really annoying. Working on that end game content is a grind. As it's only a $40 game I think its worth it especially if your into survival games.
So basically:
- The "survival" elements boil down to annoying timers that you need to constantly babysit.
- The game doesn't provide adequate resources and gates off common sense solutions to getting those resources for no reason.
- Combat is samey and tedious, and can be easily cheesed by exploiting dumb AI.
Awesome, you were right - thanks to this video, I now know all I need to know about this game.

i'm kind of late to this whole thing, but why is this a metal gear game? i feel like this would have gotten much less backlash if they just introduced it as a whole new IP.
Backlash is still attention. Otherwise it would've just been another survival game. Not saying I approve, but it does make sense.
Nobody would be remotely interested in "generic Konami survival game", so some higher up project manager decided "well we aren't doing anything metal gear why not half-ass it?"
By the way, does this game actually have any metal gears in it?
Partially for the attention, but also because this is VERY clearly built out of MGSV's engine. It draws heavily on that game's mechanics (although it makes some really bad decisions about what to do with them)
I got the campfire with pot relatively quickly. Did the yellow board retrievals about 5 or 6 of then and had that and rain water collectors

Honestly I enjoy this game. I know half the internet only says they hate the game to seem cool in front of everyone else, but for the people that ACTUALLY don't like this game, that's okay. Everyone has their own opinions but it really annoys me that some say they hate it without actually playing the game.

I was coming here to type step one of surviving it is to not buy it, but everyone else already did that.
BTW I like the game. I play for free. Playstation Plus Asian Subs. At this point, I didn' die... yet

People are in the comments like "Don't buy it!" "#fuckkonami!" and all that jazz, and I can't say they're wrong, but every time I watch footage of this game I feel like it would really scratch an itch of mine.
Even without considering the fact that Konami is trash, this game just looks really boring.
1. Don't buy it.
2. Play literally anything else.
3. Have fun.

Imagine survival games with metal gear gameplay. This game good. The best survival game actually. The only survival game with solid mechanic.

all these tips are just the tutorials that the game gives you. who's ignoring the tutorials but watching this video?
90% of gamers my guess? Most just want to get in and play and not be held back by a tutorial teaching them so they just do the minimal involved to get past it and forget everything.

It’s a completely uninspired, grind-heavy, game that’s practically an asset flip of MGSV. Zombies, horde mode, and boilerplate survival elements... Survive reads like checklist of “What’s hot right now?” from the past decade. I’m sure the next Metal Gear game will be a similar half-hearted stab at a Battle Royale. And much like Survive, it’ll be a $10-$15 DLC mode sold as a complete $40 game.
Dont play it even if someone gift it to you. Cause they charge you 10 dollar for a extra save.
