Curtis 1314 Software Demo

- I have a defective Curtis 1244 controller. I have obtained the Curtis 1314 diagnostic software (available from Curtis - the version I have is the older V3.12 that is apparently easier/better to use) and you can buy a suitable connecting cable off eBay which comes with a USB to RS232 adaptor - search for 'Programmierer Curtis Controller 1314-4402 OEM 1309' from seller 'mac_gyver2000' - €80. Ths cable replaces the dedicated OEM Curtis 1309 cable whch has identical functionality (but costs 5 times as much). You can also make your own for about £20 using the diagram here: www.evbitz.uk/Curtis_Cable.html. The Curtis controller connector required for the cable is a '4-Pin MOLEX 5557 Connector' (picture here: www.nocoev.com...)
To power up the controller enough to get the software to work you must connect a 24V power supply (battery or PSU); 0V to controller terminal 'B-', +24V to 'B+'.
Once connected apply the same +24V to the KSI (Key-switch input) pin on the controller which is pin 1 on the 1244 (bottom right hand corner of the main 24 pin connector). You should then see the controller's status LED start blinking. Then start the 1314 software and configure the software for the USB-RS232 adaptor. as in the video. When ready to connect click on the 'connect' icon and after about 30 seconds or so you will connect to the controler.

dear mr martin i have one curtis model 1230-2402 , i need to communicat with it but every time error message come " communication error with the controller " i make the same connection with the usb to serial cable but same problem , could you help me please

I can't get this to work at all. Tried about 5 USB-Serial adapters and all kinds of things making sure it has 24v and to the key switch input. I am trying to program a 1228-2430

curtis 1236 -5406, there is vcl code by my ecar OEM , is it possible to reflash to remove this vcl codes?.

Can you please clarify .. serial interface hardware 1309 is required to be in series with PC for communication or just serial cable from pc straight to controller is enough
The Curtis 1309 cable is simply a USB to RS232 adapter. Pretty much any other USB to RS232 adapter will work but some better than others hence the recommendation in my video description for the one that I bought off eBay (for less than £20). This (and the 4-way Molex connector) is all you need to connect the Curtis controller to a Windows PC USB port.

Hi Martin Winlow, I have a Question. I have to replace my previous EPS with a Curtis 1220-2201 EPS Controller for my Steering Motor. the Main Motor Controller is Curtis 1230. But it needs a Signal from the Main controller to enable which the 1230 does not have. is there a work around or I am stuck and have to find another replacement.

Hi, I am not sure that I fully understand your question. If you are asking if you can change the settings of the Curtis controller using the PC, cable and Curtis software, then 'Yes' is the answer.

Sir please confirm your are using which brand RS232 usb port
I don't think it matters, wildly. The one I use was bought off eBay (for about £15) and is a standard generic Chinese (?) one but I would recommend a modern chipset. All it has by way of markings is '340'.

the software is only a demo i think as it want connect to pc and it say user John.
