  • I DID IT!!!!! What an incredible experience!
If you are interested in motorcycles, have a plan to get your license or are a new rider that might just need a little bit of skill improvement...TAKE THIS COURSE. I cannot recommend it enough. I'm so thankful that I was able to use my bike in the course, eternally thankful for Ms. V and so ready to ride for the rest of my life.
Thank you all for your support through the journey and I literally can't wait to see where it all goes next. Leave a comment with some video ideas for the future!

I feel you. I took mine at the Harley Davidson place. When we did the hands on it was a struggle. It felt they would go so fast and pushing us. I was so frustrated. They bike they had me use was just too big. Dropped it like 3 times. At that point if was not safe for me to continue. I cried all the way home that day. I passed the written test so all I need was the hands on. They sent me to another Harley Davidson place and I rode a Eliminated which way better and smaller. I finished the rest of the cource and riding test but was 3 points too much to pass. Re-did the driving test at the mfs headquarters but dropped it during the test. Did it once again but this time 1 on 1 with the trainer and passed with 0 points! If you put your mind to it anything can happen. Got my license and my first bike both in December. Good on you for knowing what you want and continuing to try!!! Getting back on the bike is the hardest part, but better to fail time and time again in class than out there in the real world. All those “failures” taught you valuable lessons you probably use on the road every day! Congrats on passing and your bike. Ride safe!🤘🏻

The non-Harley courses are so much better. Really laid back and so much less stressful. I'm glad y'all found a non-Harley course. I'm sure Burch has already said this, but training is not over. This what happened to me. I left my hd class on a first day! I was so stressed and needed more explanation from instructor. He told me that I have to decide if I want to stay or leave but remember that future exercises will be even harder and if you want to stay you have to show me you are able to do this exercise that the group is almost done with. Hearing that will all the stress I just left

A good instructor that wants you to pass won't treat you like that. I don't like Harleys or their dealerships and heard their classes are like boot camps. Mine was nothing like that. I try not to even converse with Harley riders at stop lights, because my experience with them is complete arrogance (Kawasaki here). I don't know if it's their culture or what, and I certainly don't mean all of them. When I get hate comments for this, it will prove my point.

OMG, So sad! Failed yesterday! I love the Course overall as to learning the basics. As to shoving in so much info that you are expected to nail all that in two short days and pass a test? Holy cow! I walked away disappointed in myself. Anxiety, nervous, all played into a bad day. DAY ONE was near perfect! Which, never riding a bike more than maybe a couple hours years ago on a little motor dirt bike, made me happy. The pressure of starting day 2 out on figure eights and watching one young guy dump pretty hard? It was all down hill.
Congrats! Being 51, I start to feel age is the issue.

Hey I'm 62 and some people take longer to absorb information, not age related. If it's possible, I recommend learning one to one. Always go at your own pace, you will become a much happier and more confident rider. I'm waiting to take the on road part of the course and it will be my third course. I'm doing it my way and really enjoying it. You can do this 👊

    • @floridaredneck
      @floridaredneck 7 месяцев назад

I'm 64 and agree with you. For me it wasn't the exercises themselves, but trying to figure out which way to go on the course. I've always have direction issues (nothing GPS can't handle), but if I'm following an example, I'm fine. Given multiple direction at once can be confusing to me. I can play Chopin's Military Polonaise in A Maj from memory, but to get from A to B, then C to D, not so much. We all have our talents. @@lilynorthover8378

The difference is a good school wants to show you how easy and fun it is so you want to do it. At a bad school, the instructors want you to think it's difficult, almost "see how good I am because I can do it". Sounds like you found a good school the second time. Also, and it shouldn't be this way, some male instructors like to play the "Big Man" with younger female riders. My wife had the same when she took her first course here in the UK, we found her a different course and she nailed her test mas they had more respect for the students. Glad you got sorted and hope you enjoy your ongoing motorcycle journey :)

PS, when I went through the fire academy there were multiple choice questions on tests where several of the answers were correct. This is your first video I’ve watched and I really like your style! I also wanted to say amazing job not giving up after the Harley course. I have seen how tough some of the Harley instructors can be. I took my 2 day like you MSF course at my local community college. The instructor was great and very patient. Always added a bit of comedic relief during the breaks we got too. I know I just couldn’t complete the box test at all, however for my course it was pass/fail. So I didn’t get a point score. Keep at the practicing. Now I have been riding and practicing on my own, I can easily do a box test. Very proud of you for sticking with it. Side note, I dropped the bike on me during my course during the box test. I got a concussion, muscle contusion and bone bruise on the leg the bike fell on. I managed to complete the course though lol. Thankfully I was wearing an armored jacket, knee and ankle protection so no broken bones lol.

It’s awesome you found a course that was such a positive experience! I think it really comes down to the instructors because I took my MSF class at a Harley dealership. My experience was a lot like how you described your positive experience and nothing like how you described your Harley course experience. Our instructors were SOO experienced and SOO good.
I think your best bet is probably to check reviews and talk to people who have taken the course you’re looking at. Also keep in mind that the same course may have different instructors at different times. The Harley course sure did and I took the class when it was being taught by my preferred instructor. Probably a huge part of why it was such a positive experience.

Congratulations on trying again and getting it done. When I live in Canada, Manitoba has now made it a prerequisite to getting your beginner's license that you must first pass a provincial motorcycle safety course. I did have to do my knowledge (written test at a driver licensing place) before you are allowed to participate in the course. At the end of three days they gave us all a fairly simple test. a short curved path that we had to get up to speed in second gear by a certain point, do a quick stop at the first end, a u turn, and then get back to the start in under 20 seconds (it could be less than that all I know is I passed. But then we have a graduated licensing program so I had to wait nine months before I can do my final road test under a driving tester. I haven't done that yet because I haven't had enough practice time. Our instructors were wonderful. very nice and empathetic knowing we are all just learning. They would stop you to give you some feed back, it was great. Relaxed and fun. have a Rebel 500 and I am loving it.

I like your attitude so much that I’m sending this video to my daughter. I’ve been riding for decades and my 32 year old daughter wants to learn! After all she grew up being around motorcycles because of her dad.
I used to think that I would teach her how to ride but instead we’re gonna take a class together. I don’t want to teach her the bad habits that I’ve learned over the decades. I want to take her to an instructor like yours so she can learn good habits from the beginning!!
By the way I’m always learning and pushing myself to learn from every ride. I do however think she would benefit from a formal class that I never had when I was her age!!

I take my BRC Course in two weeks! Pretty cool that you were able to take the course on your 300. I laughed when you said you have a fuel injected bike and you were ahead of the game lol.

You've definitely given me the validation to look for another course. My experience with the Harley course was very similar, I withdrew the first range day because of the bootcamp style training. I want a fun learning environment, that wasn't it.

@@KomotoVlogsTry accelerating in a straight line then breaking hard. Build up your speed and get to feel how much more stable the bike feels under power and when breaking don't surprise your tyres, once you feel the tyres starting to grip and settle increase the pressure smoothly and firmly. When you master stability and no longer pootle about and prevent the wobbly feeling you'll be much more confident in your and the bikes ability. If you ride around constantly thinking about falling off you can never enjoy motorcycling for what it is, I don't mean you have to ride balls out with your hair on fire, but it needs to become second nature to you and confidence is the key, I know you'll get there, relax and enjoy.

So happy for you!! I'm 51, started riding on 300 rebel May 2022....and just today bought an 1100 Rebel Dct (I have arthritis in left thumb) this very day. I did ride a shadow aero 750, which I absolutely loved...but clutching kills my thumb, and is very painful for hours, sometimes for days!
So glad you did it!!! I saw the episode when y'all got that gorgeous blue 300, I wondered if you'd continued. So very happy for you!!
I hope you are blessed with many, many years of riding!!! God bless your riding career!🎉 you've come a long way from that first day in parking lot!!! Motorcycles are the most fun!!!👏👏👏👏👏🏍💨🏍💨🏍💨

Yea, that's unfortunate, my HD MSF instructors were freaking awesome. They had to kick a girl out though because she just kept dropping the bike... like dozens of times. They tried their best to give her special treatment, by like extending the class almost an hour longer than usual, but it was just slowing the rest of the class too much. They didn't want to do it, they want everyone to pass.

Had my learners permit so I could ride my Harley Davidson home from the private party seller 50 miles away. Those multiple choice tests are too damn easy, no wonder there's so many idiots driving on our roads.
