I just started me a guppy tank so it's nice to know just how this works, I have some plants on the way
I also have had a batch of fry & ended up with 35 on my 1st batch which I was surprised, I moved them to
another tank as soon as I seen I had them in the main tank & they are doing really good. I have my lights
on during the day, their water stays around 70-75 so I don't run a heater & so far so good, I'm doing this.

Had three females with one endler guppy. The females were placed in a separate tank once pregnant. Since then every female has given birth to several guppies, not once but two to three times. So the babies developed in batches and did not arrive all at once. Now that whole tank with the females is full of babies. They just crank those babies out left and right. Fun to watch the babies grow up.

Lights are not optional. Guppy babies need long periods of light (10-12 hours) for proper spine development!

oh...maybe thats why one of my new batches of fry look like their spines are 70 degree angles

Thank you for Video - already new this, but good to make video for other people, I too love the floating breeding box very useful that it floats! One thing to mention that I went over to a net one for trials = useless because the net stretches and if not careful the mother can get below to the "safe" compartment.
Also as with plastic breeding nox, Fry do swim up to the top with the mother, so can still be eaten, as you mentioned, the safest way is to remove the fry to a seperate tank which is what I will be doing :) TA

I would recommend getting a separate tank for your guppies, since beta can be aggressive to other colorful fish. If you have dull colored shrimp, you cab throw them in there. More colorful shrimp like cherries could become food.

Nice vid' and good advise but as guppy fry are quite sensitive to changes in water temperature and parameters I find it a better option to have a hatchery or nursery tank that pregnant females can be moved to from your main tank then use the same technique but move the mother fish out rather than the sensitive fry.
    Any thoughts?

so when i realised this i now shifted them to a 5 gallon tub .

We are setting up 16x 10 gallons this week for Guppy Breeding. The plan is as soon as babies drop move the parents to a new tank and since we can not monitor tanks 24/7 give them lots of hiding places this way as fast as they are born they have a chance until we discover them and can rush the parents to a new tank. We talked last week about making a guppy tank then we bought out a fish store and well now we have random guppies so time to get them sorted and making babies. lol

Nice video. But I do have to make some remarks that guppies as such don't always eat their fry. It depends more on the nature of each individual specimen wether it will eat the fry or not. Guppies do well also around 20°C. Despite of the fact that guppies in the wild are coming from tropical countries, they do have a subtropical nature. That why they can be released in regions where it's less warm.

Is the tank cycled? Nitrite poisoning can have that effect. Your fish is doing what it would in a low oxygen environment, but only because it doesn't know what else to do. Test your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels.

just try give them the favourable condition in the tank or the container in which u kept them and change the water at a regular interval of days or add half amount of fresh waters to the tank. it will grow faster
