u can set everything here on medium to high & clouds to ultra if u have better pc, & Anisotropic filtering doesn't cost any significant performance hit on 16x
@captnolan737 pretty sure he meant the best settings for low to mid range systems. If you happen to rock an RTX card there is already no use in comparing performance changes between settings as they happen in the video. Same goes for a newer gen CPU. They give you a rough estimate, but clearly not a definitive answer.
This is by far my favorite video about msfs settings. We can compare the big or the barely noticeable improvements of the visual with their impact on fps Thanks for that huge work.
This is the best of all comparisons between settings. I love all the care of detailed settings. Thanks a lot, I'm subscribed to your channel. Good stuff.
I have implemented some changes based on your recommendations and I have a 40% increase in performance. The planes fly with a new fluidity and I’ll get used to the slightly lower visual resolution. Thank you for this.
Amazing stuff! It's pretty impressive to see how some settings have so little impact on overall visuals but so much on fps. I'll be tuning my settings asap.
I just tuned down many, didnt see a difference visual wise but wow I did see an increase in FPS. The only one you really see any difference between every setting is Volumetric clouds if you ask me
This is great! I have been dissapointed by my performance. But now with your settings my game actually runs smoother with better graphics! Thank you Sir!
Five stars! Thank you for taking the time to do this for the community. You've already earned my sub with just this effort. (VR settings requested by me as well, please😉)
Totally agree, I've gone from i7 4790k + 1070 to 7800X3D + 4090 = mind blowing! Best thing is I can pretty much put everything ultra, FG on and never ever worry about settings again!!
Crazy to see how the so called "Frame Killers" don't even make a noticeable enough visual impact when on Ultra settings. I dialed so many settings down to High, thank you for the great video! You got a new Sub!
Thank you SO MUCH for making this straight forward comparison of settings without all the confusing technical descriptions others like to bombard us with! And for this 66+ simmer with @2600hrs on FSX and MSFS 2000… It’s like I’ve been led to the fountain of youth!😂👴🏻🇨🇦 Subscribed!
Excellent work - always wanted something like this to compare. Amazing how little obvious difference there is for many settings. Now we can target where to push and pull our system capabilities
You rock! I'm not getting more fps from my Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB but the ones I get are consistent and never drop, even on the Maverick missions at low altitude. Great job and thanks for sharing.
Absolutely GREAT video! I felt like I was at the Optician when they ask "is this lens better, or this lens better?" lol Also to see the relative impact on FPS 'in the flesh' so to speak - Thank you so much really appreciated!
Good job. I'm only interested in the MSFS (and DCS, if you end up doing one) but I subscribed because you're putting in the work to create something truly useful - thanks!
This is helpful for players who can already run the sim at a very high level. For the rest of us with cards like the 1080 and CPUs like the 8700K, it is entirely dependent on whether or not you're main thread locked. If you are, there is likely going to be zero difference between the optimal and ultra settings (in fact, I tested it and contrary to the dramatic 20+ FPS difference, I had a 2 (two) frame difference with these settings. Instead, focus on things that impact your CPU such as traffic. Use FSLTL instead of MSFS's traffic and move the sliders as far down as possible (read up on FSLTL, as well, it's important you get your settings right.)
This is awesome! The video I didn't know I needed! I can't imagine how long it took you to put it together. Not only are the comparisons great, but just showing what each of the options are without any unnecessary commentary is perfect. Great work! I'll definitely be bookmarking this and referring back to it multiple times.
Bro trust me when I say this: you WILL get a TON more subs, your content is unique and VERY straight to the point, no one does that. Sorry for CAPS just wanted to emphazise how much I LOVED your content.
Went from having 15FPS at EDDM custom scenery in the fenix without traffic or any clouds in the sky to 25 with lashing rain on a 1660 + R5 2600. Thank you so much!
Great job! 👍🏻 I set the "Windshield Effects" to ULTRA, because it increases the realism, as you can see the reflection of the dashboard and other objects on the windows ...what you can't see on the video
Amazing!!!!! I use a AMD 5800X3D, 32 Gb DDR4 3600, 3080Ti, NVME, and resolution 3440x1440. ULTRA = 64FPS, your CONFIG 84FPS, in same place and same airplane, obviously. Thanks for show us the real difference between configs. The change form me is, I will go block in 60FPS and my GPU go to work more cold and more silent.
You definitely have the best video for comparing graphic settings, but I would like to see the comparison with a more beefier system such as a RTX 3090 and a system with 32 gigabytes of ram
Good video. I like most of your settings. I use Ultra clouds, and DLSS-Quality (instead of TAA.) Thanks for taking the time to record and edit this into an easily digestible form.
I have the Ryzen 7800X3D on a RTX 3070Ti, 32gb 6000mhz ram i generally got good fps, 50 to 60 in busy big airports, 80 to 90fps in smaller less busy airports, depending on traffic... Understanding the settings to keep good visuals and still get good fps really helped, going off what you suggested but just keeping my resolution at 1440p and DLSS on balanced, i now get 60 to 70fps in big airports and 90 to 115fps in smaller airports, i didn't realize how much some of the settings ate up performance. I appreciate your guide.
Thanks for doing this, I'm sure it was a lot of time and effort to put the comparison is this very clear, simple and amicable way. I have to confess that I love and hate this software. Yes, we are far, far better than in the MSFS98 version, when I started to use it....but still does some things that are really, really annoying, and amazes me that no one in all this years never did something to correct this. I have a mid-tier hardware so I would not say that the occasional CTD that I still have is the software fault, probably approaching a big congested airport like Anchorage or Heathrow without doing a tweak or two to the config before is my fault and not the software, and if I want to get rid of that I should invest in better hardware, simple like that.....But when you are on short final, and the approach controller calls you to ask to "climb to 12000 feet" instead of giving you the hand off to tower, that is pure and simple lack of quality control from the software developers. Problems like this has been inherent to MSFS since the 1998 version, and after 2004 Century of Flight, FSX and now MSFS 2020, no one has made the corrections to those lines. Let's see what do we have in the announced 2024 version, although I'm not so excited with the announcements, It doesn't look like any of the traditional problems will be addressed.
Thank you very much for this wonderful work. I know how much work it is to put all this together and I really appreciate this great service. Have a good one and always happy landings.
This was great without having to listen to loads of narrative which can be too intense. Well done for that. I do tweak here and there depending where I fly. I think 35 - 40 fps is adequate for Msfs. Also, I have an Rtx 4070 ti coupled with a mediocre CPU and Frame generation causes massive lag. So I leave it off and just use DLSS 3 (which I know is not available on your card).
Thank you for the huge amount of effort that must have gone into this. I just wish there was an equivalent for a top end 13900K and 4090 system at 4K and in VR. I don't think my video editing skills are up to producing one 😢
Although i have a high end system including the 4090, there are some settings on here that i've defo going to adjust! At some stages of the video i had to pause it and really look! Some making no differencrle to the eye. Great vid thanks for your time 👍
I used to think that I needed to spend a fortune to get high graphics in MSFS2020. Now I know that's not true. Thanks for creating this great content that helps people! i actualy think that some specs give more good color and texture working at medium setings. at least in my opinion
This is great. Even though I have i7 and 4070ti I always wondered what would do what when changed. This is perfect. Shows how little difference visually makes such a big fps benefit. I’d rather turn down unnecessary blades of grass and trees and AO and run up aircraft density.

there not the best settings lmao, Anisotropic filter on 8x and clouds ultra would be way better
