Hi, a great video, thank you. I am a retired A320 captain, and what I want in a sim is great visual accuracy for the world but even more I want good weather, clouds, lighting and the environment in general. MSFS 2024, even with its bugs, is providing this, and it will only get better. I have just got a new PC right now (my old rig was 6 years old, i9-9900k, 32gb, and a 2080ti), and I went for a 7 9800X3D, 64gb, and a 4080S. The sim is performing very well as you would expect, but like you I do not run Ultra setting across the board, in fact it’s mostly at High with a few exceptions like clouds. I also have the Lods both at 150. I am hoping for a MSFS2024 version of the dynamic LOD app so that I can have auto high Lods at altitude and lower settings around airports. The in house dynamic control seems limited and maybe even bugged.
Another important thing to remember or add to this is your cache. Since this is a streaming sim now a lot of issues with loading and stuttering is not having your cache up high enough. In 2020 i ran about 30gig on 2024 I have bumped that up to 60gig, above that you're not going to get much improvement
It's about time Asobo implement an export/import functionality for graphics settings (non VR and VR). And wouldn't it be cool if you could map sets of settings to the aircraft you're flying? A380x and C152 call for different settings.
@@themorethemerrier281 Oh sorry. I read you wrong. I thought you meant controls. Personally, I don't see point or reason why you would have different graphics for different planes. Thats just me :)
@FinZippo Well in a bush plane I might care a lot more about plants, rocks and general ground detail than in an Airbus... But it's only nice to have for sure.
I'm being an idiot...you're changing the settings on another monitor, but showing the results on-screen. So the upper right corner is a performance monitor tool, yeah?
First, go to the Options tab, then select General Options, then Developers. Set the developer mode to ON. Next, in the [DevMode] bar, select “Options” and “Display FPS: You can then observe the FPS readout in the upper right of your display. I found the answer, lol. You can all move along, nothing to see here!
Wow, when i enable Frame Gen (on a 4070 Super) its basically no difference in fps (and visually).. even tho in the top it says "SDR Frame Gen" .. its like its not enabled for me? edit: apparently it doesnt work when the developer mode is activated. turned it off and now I get like 30% more "frames".. 😀
i have a 4070 super and get around a 50%-100% increase with FG. Check to see if you have an FPS limiter on like in Riva Tuner . Just tested it now, flying over rural area (4070 super , 1440p, I5 12400F, 32GB) mostly high settings, getting 50-60 FPS , put FG on goes up to 80 -110 i don't tend to use FG as i can feel the input latancy , with Flight sim it's fine, it's free FPS basically
When are raytraced reflections coming? Right now, reflections in water are not raytraced. Reflections disappear as soon as the reflected object gets out of screen. Thats annoying.
I would like to see the full load in of scenery. What bandwidth is it using. I was watching throughout mostly it was sitting at zero. So how much data the sim is pulling in from the server makes a difference. I have an RTX4090 i9 14900kf but a very poor internet connection. I could not get anything like these graphics. Mine had large areas of blank scenery with broccoli trees and completely flat topography there were areas with stretches of wobbly roads and melted buildings it was completely unplayable.
@ mine is 55-68. A friend in one town over has 1gb. His graphics are great. Same RTX 4090 but an AMD processor. I do believe the bandwidth has way more effect on graphics than anticipated. MSFS2020 has some great graphics. Also because you can cache manually it is even more obvious when you fly over places you have cached right down to the most detailed image size. I cannot believe for a second that 10mbps is sufficient. Perhaps continuous bandwidth may be low but the initial speed must need to be high to get the data required for the image stability and texture mapping. I haven’t seen any RUclips videos that focus solely on bandwidth and stability. Even Microsoft have only shown the video quality at higher PC specs and excellent bandwidth.
I have found the FPS to be great and stable at the start of a flight, but after a 2+ hour flight, it's getting a few stutters (very minor, but I have seen them). I'm not sure if that is just me or a widespread thing.
I'm thinking about getting a new system for the MSFS2024, but I'm not sure whether it should be a Ryzen 9 5900x, Ryzen 7 5800x3d (now actually outdated) or a Ryzen 5 7600x3d.
For me everything goes well but my Clouds are ugly af. I have them on Ultra but they are pixelated and when i move there are dripping pixels after then. I don't know why anyone maybe got a fix?
Hee AirNott, I have a question. I have a similar setup (only 64gb and 7800x3d) and a lot of the time I am getting really bad stutters at some point which are only going away by going to to windowed mode and back to full screen. Are you having any of these issues and did you find a solution for it? I was afraid it had to do with the vram of the 4080super, but now looking at your video you’re telling (because of the object on ultra) the vram is not a problem. I am really looking forward any advise :) thanks a lot for this video of course
have the same issue with frame generator on (always on destination airport). Seems that there is something wrong with vram management. I will give a shot with settings presented on video and frame generator off. There is a thread on offficial msfs forum and bug logged with over 200 votes on that topic (vram bug).
Funny how many people aren't willing to accept nVidia has priced them out of the mid-range. This absolutely is a mid-range build. A 4070 ti with a really good CPU and 32GB RAM is still mid-range, but I doubt that is what people are thinking of when they say "mid range".
In my opinion there is something wrong with VRAM usage. Recommended graphic cards according to MS/Asobo should have 8GB of VRAM. I've 8GB GPU and in MSSF2020 it was really nice to fly. In MSFS2024 (setting very similar to the settings I had in MSFS2020) my VRAM usage is huge (GPU limited). On the official MSFS forum there are voices that there is something wrong with optimalization of VRAM usage in MSFS2024.
Does anyone experiencing blurry texture while flying above 1000ft !! I don’t know why am experiencing that i have a high end pc with 3 monitors set up 😢
I haven't played MSFS2024 since November last year And thought I'd try it now after the "update" I'm met with crash after crash after loading into the simulator. And this is a completely new installation of the sim without anything extra. I've given up on this product and will check back in 6 months . Asobo is a big joke when it comes to making this simulator
According to Steam Hardware & Software Survey for October 2024. Your graphic card : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER represents 0.58% of all steam users. So I would thing it would be very helpful to do a mid-range build video too. Thanks for your time and effort.
TAA is way way worse than DLAA! Since day 1 I was using TAA as recommended, but yesterday I tried DLAA, boy is so much better! Better text, no image ghosting! You should not recommend TAA!!
we need this for the mid-range build 🙏
yes!
+1
yes please! Want to see the mid-range build video
What he's running is considered pretty much mid range!
@@schorschgaggo1601 4080 super mid range? the only better gpu is the 7900xtx (i think, could be wrong) or the 4090

Hi Peter, you might already know but there is an AutoFPS mod which takes care of dynamic LOD like you mentioned
@ Thank you, I already use it and it is invaluable.
Nice! We ended up with very very similar settings from our settings...I just did a video similar to this yesterday. Good one! 🤝👍
This is the best settings guide on RUclips. Thank you for putting in the effort to make this and show all the differences. It's very much appreciated.
No worries! Thanks for watching 👍
terrain pre cache not only affects ram but also vram! nice vid
As always, a nice and informative video. I really like your video’s! Keep on going and thanks!

For me the opposite ist true. I had it at 100GB and went back to 16 (default) muss less stuttering.
Having your very same specs, this is the video I've been waiting for
I have exac
tly the same too 😀. Not sure I'll still have this setup by the time all the bugs and crashes are sorted though ...
Same here. Only diff 3440x1440.
Great video… clear, concise and informative. Really useful, thank you. 👍
I'd love to see the same on the Midrange build. Appreciate your work!
Working on it 🙂
well made well presented, great summary - thank you so much for saving my valuable time!
Well explained I never knew what half of those were for in 2020
Great indepth video as always. I will be interested to see what your performance is like when you have a scenary and aircraft installed.
Have another video on the channel where we do that 🙂
@@AirNOTT I must have missed that, I will check it out.

How do you change settings and see them update while sim is running?
Did you do the mid-range build? I have the same GPU with a slightly better CPU.
For me my fps is stuck at 10 when I have my render scaling at 30 but when I turn it up I go down to like 3 fps.
