Wow my first Gwhisky mention! If anyone here would like a signed photograph, my DMs are open. :) In all seriousness, this is a fantastic list. I think I've tried just about everything on it, and they are all great (especially the Ancnoc). I've yet to try the Glen Garioch, and will need to look out for it - perhaps on the next excursion to Backyard Jr. @Gwhisky! 🙂
I expected to see Fettercairn and Old Pulteney on the list and cannot believe no Tomatin. Still a very refined list, perfectly distilled by your good self Geoff.
Oban…Peppery salty id say very sea 🌊 side tasting scotch but definitely worth a try…We were experimenting with different brands and we found that we would put this on our drinking lists of scotches…Gove it a try if you want something different in a scotch.😊😊😊
Favorite…. I can’t decide. Ardnamurchan Cherry or Rum. Both fabulous. But one whisky that will always be on my shelf (if they keep up the price and quality) is Deanston 12.
Wow, no Glenmorangie! I'm a bit surprised, Glenmo is what got me into collecting whisky. Of course I temper my surprise with the fact that I have not tried 5 out of the 7, so I'll add those to my "must buy" list! Thanks for the list, slainte mhath!
I’ll have to try Glencadam, that’s one of those background actors on the shelf that I see all over but never pay attention to because I knew nothing about it.
Thanks for sharing this list, Geoff. Personally most pleased with the news the quake didn't get hold of your sometimes ... er ... questionable selection, as that in the end leaves me with banter possibilities 😂 Slàinte mhath
Eastern highlands of Scotland have a lot of shrubs, particularly HEATHER, purple, gold, pink, red and white. Like Aberfeldy-16, Deanston virgin oak (of Central Highlands) ... GG has milder aroma of this light perfumy" heather : THIS is what gets peeps when doing head-to-head blind tastings... OLDER than 30y, GG has a more "cake-y" (darker but also more floral) aroma of heather (aka "rancio" type). - - Glad to hear u r ok.
Fun list. I would place either Deanston 12, 15 yo organic, or 18 yo at second place on the list; the AD in first place. Glengarioch 12 third place. Clynelish is too batchy as you say. Oban 14 is too light, and Isle of Harris has already surpassed it. I agree with the Glencadam 10 pick over the 15. I was thinking of an Edradour bottling for the list for sure but haven't tasted that one in a while now (bottle waiting in the stash). I'll give AnCnoc 18 another go sometime (have the 24 open at present). Thanks for the croud sourse research and did touch wood for you when I heard about the earthquake (no confessions mate).
Aside from the always solid Balblair, there are certainly more distilleries that could be included, but they all suffer from poor availability(Ben Nevis), poor or limited distillery bottlings(Ardmore, Blair Athol) or high prices(Glenturret).
Those are great 7 from the Highland Geoff. I have had all except the anCnoc 18 which just arrived at my door recently. Glenfarclas 15 would be a great addition to the list for the price it was at not that long ago. Deanston Virgin Oak is different though. As for the cologne in Deanston goes, you can always splash it before heading out on Friday night. All great whiskies from the Highland.
Glenmorangie Signet. Is that cheating? Maybe. It's certainly not representative of Highland whisky or even Glenmorangie but it is fantastic. Edradour Caledonia is in a similar situation in my opinion.
That’s a good list, my personal top 7 would have included a Glendronach and Glengoyne expression. The 12 year olds are such enjoyable “every day” pours
Some real belters in that list. I am a big fan of the Glen Garioch 12, but it’s all subjective. I have the Cadenheads Glen Garioch 11 which is very different but really good. Glencadam is one of my favourite distilleries. The 13yo Reawakening was wonderful stuff. Keep up the reviews, always interesting and entertaining 👍
Edradour/Ballechin is one of the most slept on distilleries in Scotland. Their distillate is heavy and dirty and their cask experimentation, with both brands, is fantastic. Tons of available cask strength juice as well.
Interesting list and my only contribution is that I have wondered about Highland as an area it’s like all of Scotland that isn’t in a more sensible defined area. That said a whisky area called “ the rest” wouldn’t have much romance. West highland is where my favourites generally reside. Thank you for the content 👍👍
Great list! I think the only two I haven't tried are the GlanGarioch and the Clynelish 14. Glad the Ardnamurchan made it there, they so deserve the recognition! As for AnConc 18 to win, no surprise there 😜 Cheers my friend! Slainte 🥃 🥃 Thank tou
Interesting picks. I'm surprised Glenturret or Deanston did not make it into the list. My list would be, in no particular order: Deanston 12, Ardna AD, Glenturret 7 peat (or 12, but I'd rather diversify the profiles in the list), Clynelish 14, Glencadam 15, Glendronach 15, Edradour 10 Signatory (technically an IB, but consistently available) with honorable mentions to IB Ben Nevis and limited releases of Ballechin and Loch Lomond.
No idea if I can drop an idea here but I have one: a couple of different Caol Ila IB's? There are a lot of them and could be interesting to compare (and never breaks the bank)
Interesting list and even more interesting hairdo, Geoff! Absolutely love it, but is it 100% craft? Not sure whether there was some coloring involved. Anyways - keep up your great work, always a pleasure to watch your videos!
Out of those 7 I've only tried the Ardnamurchan AD and Glencadam 10. These two are also the best value for money in my market. Some of those picks are quite pricey here. I am looking to get my hands on the Glen Garioch 12 and Clynelish 14 at some stage. Ardnamurchan gets my vote for best Highland whisky. Cheers!
Hi Geoff All I can say is where's the deanston whiskeys, I am a devoted deanston fan boy,I think I have all of them, but the one you have to try is the 2002 organic oloroso cask finish, it's a superb whiskey too say the least,it's pricey, but its a stunner, thanks for the great review as always, cheers brother !!!
Well we know it’s not your list Geoff - no Dalmore! I would have had an Old Pulteney before any Oban, and I have a soft spot for Ben Nevis, but more IB’s than the OB. Surprised by no Deanston or Glengoyne (the more craft end) - but a list in which all the bottles sit on my shelves. I must join your patreons and give some advice 😉😉
IMO opinion Dalmore is one of the most overrated brands in all of Scotch, let alone Highlands. They certainly think highly of themselves given their pricing, but it’s overly sherried, one note and almost always under 46%. Aside from the Cigar Malt, it’s meh
Great video, happy I learned some taiwanese saying as well. On a serious note, which Hazelburn is it behind you? Been trying some of them, but havent fallen in love with the tripe distillation style
I've got a bottle of the 10 behind me, and a bottle of the 13 Oloroso hidden in there as well. I'm a huge fan myself, but it's definitely on the lighter side of Springbank, which won't be for everyone. Glad you enjoyed the Chinese lesson. 😉🥃
I don't get the rave heaped upon Glencadam 10. It's borderline plain and boring to me. It's like an average good non-peated Japanese whisky but just spicier.
It is interesting that The Macallan which is the most famous highland whisky on the planet, maybe the most famous whisky, can't put 1 bottle on this list. How the mighty have fallen, at least with enthusiasts.
Those earthquake tremors will have definitely damaged the quality of your whisky collection but as I'm a nice guy, I'll buy a few rare bottles off you (at a significantly reduced price, y'know, because of that damage)
In these days of people's making and selling fake expensive whisky, what would be the reason to fake an expensive whisky, say a Macallan 30 y.o., and charge a ridiculously low price for the fake?
Wow my first Gwhisky mention! If anyone here would like a signed photograph, my DMs are open. :)
In all seriousness, this is a fantastic list. I think I've tried just about everything on it, and they are all great (especially the Ancnoc). I've yet to try the Glen Garioch, and will need to look out for it - perhaps on the next excursion to Backyard Jr. @Gwhisky! 🙂
I've heard that you are are terrible person
As long as it's not NT 4500. 😉🥃
@@Gwhisky 😂🥃
Will you sign on my Johny walker red bottle please 🥺
Never without an open bottle of Oban 14. At the price point, it's a fantastic whiskey and hard to be disappointed.
All the best to you G, you work so hard to put up content every week, make sure to take some rest as well.
Very kind of you to notice. Lots of work but lots of fun. Cheers! 🥃
Muchas gracias completely caught me off guard 😂
Really on form today! 😁
That's not Taiwan or Chinese lol
I love Deanston 18. One of the best 18 yr olds out there. I like the older 18 more.
I expected to see Fettercairn and Old Pulteney on the list and cannot believe no Tomatin. Still a very refined list, perfectly distilled by your good self Geoff.
Well all credit goes to my Patrons, to be fair. That said, my list would be similar with only a few minor tweaks. Cheers Michael! 🥃
And just so there’s no doubt… You are more important than the whisky behind you! 😊
Thumbs up for Glencadam 10!
Oban…Peppery salty id say very sea 🌊 side tasting scotch but definitely worth a try…We were experimenting with different brands and we found that we would put this on our drinking lists of scotches…Gove it a try if you want something different in a scotch.😊😊😊
Deanston 18 is my #1. I’ve only had the 18 from them. That note on the 18 comes off as clean dryer sheets. Love it
I've had some very nice Balblair lately.
A lot of good choices, but I'd have Deanston (love the 12 and VO, still searching for the 18) & Balblair (especially the 15) on the list. Cheers.
Really ? Do they say muchas gracias there? WOW!!! Keep the great work my friend!!! Best wishes from Mexico
Thanks buddy. Or as they say in Mexico, 謝謝! 🥃
@@Gwhisky Yes!!! Wish you the best buddy!!!!
Great list you must have some good mates 🙂. The only one IMHO I think was missed was Ben Nevis 10 yr, great dram. Good stuff as always Geoff.
I’ll have to try Glencadam, that’s one of those background actors on the shelf that I see all over but never pay attention to because I knew nothing about it.
Thanks for sharing this list, Geoff.
Personally most pleased with the news the quake didn't get hold of your sometimes ... er ... questionable selection, as that in the end leaves me with banter possibilities 😂
Slàinte mhath
Great choice from the supporters.
No1 is a winner along with The Ardnamurchan Distillery
Deanston virgin oak and glencadam 10. Thanks for the video 🎉
Thanks for watching! 🥃
Thanks for the correct use of the word, 'singular'. So many people get it wrong.
I love Glencadam 15!
Glencadam 13 still one of my all-time favorites😊
Gotta try that one. 🥃

Glen Garioch is probably one of the most syrupy whiskies I've tried
I like glengoyne 15, but my favorite highland has gotta be the glenfarclas 25
Balblair 15 would be on my list
Fun list. I would place either Deanston 12, 15 yo organic, or 18 yo at second place on the list; the AD in first place. Glengarioch 12 third place. Clynelish is too batchy as you say. Excellent list! I’m have been really enjoying Old Pulteney Huddart. A very coastal, craft presented, northern highlander. Please review it!
Interesting list and my only contribution is that I have wondered about Highland as an area it’s like all of Scotland that isn’t in a more sensible defined area. Favourite region? The rest...
Yeah sounds a bit shit. 😉🥃
Great list! I think the only two I haven't tried are the GlanGarioch and the Clynelish 14.
Glad the Ardnamurchan made it there, they so deserve the recognition!
As for AnConc 18 to win, no surprise there 😜
Cheers my friend! Slainte 🥃 🥃
Thank tou
Cant beat some IB Ardmore, or even the old ‘traditional cask’ OB 46% NCF NAS at auction for c.£30
Belblair 15 is so good.
Glen Garioch is pretty unctuous and rich..for the price (in the UK) it's amazing
Unctuous. Terribly underused term on this channel. Taking it. 🥃
Interesting picks. I'm surprised Glenturret or Deanston did not make it into the list. Deanston 18 is on my short list to pick up. Their Oloroso cask is so good but I prefer Edradour 10 over it.
No idea if I can drop an idea here but I have one: a couple of different Caol Ila IB's? There are a lot of them and could be interesting to compare (and never breaks the bank)
Tku very much

Glendronach Cask Strength as well as their 10 yr are popular with my friends

Geoff, have you tried the "new" Wolfburn 10...wow.
Not yet! 🥃
a, 2, 6 😂😂😂

Please do a review of the Jack Ryan Finisher's Touch. I think you'd really like it and it's great value. Keep up the great content.
Sadly I don't have access to that one in my local market. I'll keep an eye out for it, though. Looks fantastic! 🥃
No Highland Park??? or Glenfarclas???
List is definitely questionable
Glengoyne 21. Love the Sherry, vanilla, floral, and viscous dram. Please let me know what you think?
I've reviewed it! 🥃
Well we know it’s not your list Geoff - no Dalmore! I would have had an Old Pulteney before any Oban, and I have a soft spot for Ben Nevis, but more IB’s than the OB. Do you prefer Glen Garioch or Glen Ross?
Brora 35 year old is not bad either 😄
Nah. Cocktail swill, that. 😉🥃
Geoff..... that Glen Garioch 12....... man man man.... she is pretty...... maybe give her anther call.......
The last Edradour 12 OB I had last year was so bad that I had to give it away….
Still talking about Ancnoc 18.... which it deserves, totally...but stop it. :p
Caledonia is a darling of a bottle! It gives Bunna 12 a run for its money!
True!
Deanston missing here
Love the list, everything is great except for that Ardnamurchan ... get that newmake spirit outta here! 😛
. Blah blah blah blah .
I haven't really tried much from the Highlands, so this is a great reference list.

Much like Geoff, 18 year olds are always No. 1 on my list.
Not whiskies.
