For anyone with a similar issue of couch cushions not staying put- if you don’t want to/can’t make a whole new armrest, you can use heavy duty Velcro strips to attach and secure the bottom or back of the cushions to the base of the couch or chair. Obviously it’ll be more secure if you sew it onto the cushion covers but I think some Velcro come with an adhesive back.

Becky is slowly becoming my favorite "Sorry Girl" because her ideas are simplistic, stylish, and creative. Every project you do inspires me to get up and try making something new from objects that are easily attainable. You have expensive tastes but with a natural common sense approach of acquiring the same look and feel.....and that is what makes you the perfect designer.

Instead of another big round light (since you already have at least two in the same room from what I can tell) I think this would be the absolute perfect opportunity to try a really low hanging light like the ones from the 70s Ikea catalogue video. I’m LOVING this area of the house!! This might be a weird suggestion, but I think the couches should be closer together and centered with the shelf bay that’s one more to the left. This would make a more intimate hang out space and would separate it from the living room just a bit. This would also offset the focal point of the shelving unit which could be nice. I saw someone else’s suggestion to use a low hanging pendant lamp over the coffee table and I think that would definitely go with the cozy, conversation pit vibes! I am obsessed with the direction this space is going!!!

The best part after the couch is definitely the light. It hits that post- space race vibe that 70’s Doctor Who had. Where we comfortably knew the stars were in our grasp so we didn’t need the tin and silver colors anymore, we could explore the colors out there in space itself. It’s fantastic and super interesting as a light piece!!

The minute you turn that light on I thought oh something didn’t go right but then after looking at it right away I said “that’s cool”. I haven’t finished the video, hope you keep it. ❤️

I agree with everyone else, no rings it’s looks great as is! Is it perfect? No but its unique and I love the vibe and the amber color it gives off and I do like the streaks going through it, it feels intentional and fits the aesthetic. Keep it as is!

potentiallty for the light fixture you might have been able to use an airbrush to get a more even interior coating. Anytime I have tried the thin and swirl method it never quite works like I intend it too. An airbrush with really thinned white/cream colored paint and a lot of very thin layers might have created a more even texture. I actually like the planet vibes of the light personally though :)

For the sofa arm you can do an arm that turns into a side table and add a small bench with red or orange fabric cushions on it to complete the C shape conversation pit!

Velcroing (a verb) the cushion to the base wouldn't be more effective?

Oh Becky you did a great job putting that wood on the end of those sofas to keep those cushions from falling off, they really look so pretty and that rug and coffee table go together so good. I also love that artwork you bought and hung in the center of your shelves and all of the things you place everywhere is looking so incredible, sending love and hugs, bye!! 🤗👋👍🙏💜💜💜

Impressive transformation! Thrifting an entire MCM living room is not only budget-friendly but also an excellent way to infuse vintage charm into your space.

I love your new area. The light is so cool the way it is. You turned me on to Theard Up. I buy most of my clothes there now. I'm 66 years young, your house reminds me of my 1st house so much. Being someone who lived in the 70's, I'd say your doing a great job decorating. Keep up the good work.

Absolutely love the planet light! Keep it! My only suggestion is that you need a much larger rug. If you can get one where all of the living room furniture comfortably sit on with a little bit of space to spare, I think that would look better. It will actually look at the living room look bigger.

Pendant light looks awesome. You can do some internal rings that are hidden when off but visible when on. Pick a paint and use a milk frother and stick inside the bulb and turn on. It will make rings.
