A home cooked meal is so much healthier than takeout or frozen meals, thanks Flo for all the simple easy recipes, less work, less time, no mess and a healthy dinner ❤
We grew up and you made this with the Chinese cleaver to make the ground pork. Today I am so thankful that you can buy ground pork ready to go. Lot less work and tired forearms. We always added water chestnuts dried mushrooms and fresh shrimp to the mix with an egg as a binder.
I’m trying to get my family to eat healthier and absolutely love Cantonese cuisine because you don’t feel like you’re “dieting. You’re eating delicious foods that so happen to be healthy. Going to try making this for my family tonight. Thank you Flo!
My mom use to make this for my family when I was little too because it was easy, fast, and economical. She sometimes added chopped up dried salted fish (haam yu). Our family was always tight on money and my mom was always tight on time since she always had a full time job just to barely make ends meet with expenses. It is one of my sister's favorite dish. Made this last week but I only had ground chicken and have to say it was too mushy in texture for me so stick to ground pork which tastes better the authentic way..or maybe I should have put less corn starch and dried mushroom (I used 3 instead of 2). Thank you for another nostalgic dish!
Hi. My wife and I enjoy watching your videos. Always makes us hungry for more. Would like to see a new video of your cats. Enjoy your day. Ray and Colleen
Flo, you need the plate lifting tool when making this dish. Easily lifts the plate out of the wok. Charles Phan introduced me to this when he made his version.
I wish there was more juice. This was so fabulous. I shared it with many friends. I'm not a mushroom fan, so chopping them into small pieces worked well for me.
Yeah my childhood dish that my mom used to make too when she don't know what to cook. She put in an egg at times to make the pork smoother or at times we do not have enough pork, she added more eggs. I can just eat this with rice even without veggie but my mom will surely cook another veg to go with this dish so that my family can have a balance and nutrition meal. Mom is always being a mom that really do what it takes for the family. Mother's day is approaching soon here in Asia and Happy Mother's Day Flo 😍 I miss my mom especially even more so when it is a Mother's Day. She has passed away 7 years ago 😭and the only hope as Christian is that we will meet again in Heaven that i am hopeful 🙏
i love my mom chinese meatloaf. get to enjoy pork with little guilt. you nailed it when you said much coarse ground meat. best bet is ground your own meat with a cleaver.
This is my favorite dish. You can’t find this in most restaurants so knowing how to make it at home is great! Thank you for sharing your recipe. Love your videos Flo! ❤😊 Hugs for your cats 🐱
wow, good memories of home cooking while growing up. Mom would add minced water chestnuts mixed in and add thinly sliced ginger on top. Time for me to make it. Thanks
Steamed Pork Fatty... loved it too, my mom used to cook with salted egg(the egg is coated with mud and it was raw?) hamtan?... sound like... 😊... keep up the good work and more recipe to come... GOD BLESS YOU MORE
Hi, Flo and Dude Growing up in Chinese family my mom would make two of my favorites. One was a pork patty with spicy Szechuan radishes and the other was diced water chestnuts and what is almost impossible to find nowadays... duck liver in a ducks foot. Yeah I know sounds weird but is delicious. Love your instant pot recipe collection especially the one for Hainan Chicken. Thank you.
Flo My cat does this every time I talk on the phone. I think she thought I was talking to her. This looks looks so yummy! So fast and easy. I always enjoy dude’s comments at the end. I have never tried this one. Next on my list. Blessings to you and your family 🌹♥️🤗🤗🙏🙏
Must give it a try , hard to cook for yourself , so good idea to do enough to have a little leftover 😂, love the chicken recipe , that’s great idea too for leftovers , enjoyed today’s show as it brings back so much childhood memories , as my dad did most if not all the cooking , and he was impatient now I am seeing the difference in slow motion , Happy Sunday to all stay safe and healthy
This was definitely a childhood favorite my late parents used to cook. They added water chestnuts, Chinese sausage and soften dried mushrooms. I would like to make it myself in the Instant Pot. How long should I cook it in the IP? Thanks Flo and Dude! Happy Weekend!
Love your recipes. I have a wok but electric cooktop. What kind butane burner are you using? Is it 15,000 btu's. Don't know which kind to get. Hope you can answer.
How does this compare to your original steamed pork recipe with instant pot? I tried that a while ago and I've been craving it again lately so this video came up at the right timing!
Where can I get those little bowls that Dude is eating out of at the end (I know I can get little bowls anywhere, but i like that particular design :) ).
We got them as a wedding gift so very long ago but I think they are from a Japanese store in town called Utsuwa-No-Yakata. I believe they have an online store.
I'm new to your channel and I am planning on buying a couple of your cook books . I love how most of the dishes you make are so easy to do and I really like the food that you make . I just have one question did your husband's parents not like him much because I find it odd to be named "dude" or were his parents from the flower- power era ? By no means did I mean any disrespect .
My late father-in-law’s favorite dish was this with the salted duck egg, mixing the white of the egg in the pork and letting the yolk harden on top. It became one of my favorite dishes also but now it is impossible for me to find uncooked salted duck eggs in the US. So I actually make my own from farmer’s market duck eggs just so I can occasionally make this dish.
Hi Flo, I'm new here. I have questions. What is the best type of rice to use for fried rice dishes. Do you have a list of a certain brand name if your sauces you use? The video goes fast and never enough time for me to write down the bands you use. Can they be bought at Walmart maybe. Have you ever heard of Royal select rice? I have the mixed rice would that be OK to use instead of white rice? Sorry for all the questions from this 64 yr old but I want to try and just need answers and your encouragement also lol Thank you in advance for being patient and answering any of my questions. God bless ❤
I usually use Jasmine rice because that is what we eat most often and best for Chinese dishes. You can check out my videos on basic sauces for more info. I don’t know if they can be found at Walmart. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with using mixed rice. I’m kind of boring and like to keep things simple. 😉 To me, it’s best to use just plain white rice. Hope this helps! Blessings to you too! 💕
Thanks so much Flo! Big Heads Up! The auroras may begin soon. These precede The Three Days of Darkness, which I believe occurs during Passover, could be just around the corner though I don't think we recon time correctly so it could run a half month lste.
Ah yes, the dish i loved to finish and lick the dish off as a kid haha. You gave some great pointers and its better buying and grounding the pork at a local Asian butcher if you can.
I think this needs to be mixed with some ground prawns. Maybe just pork won't taste that good. And IMO, never buy any ground meat, because you don't know which parts of the animal in that meat. You better grind the meat yourself, just get a grinder, it's a 10 minutes job.
Simple food from childhood is the best. Brings back so many memories. Happy Sunday! 💕
Please answer my post if possible. Thank you.
The time when my grandfather still alive , this is the dish is his Favorite, and my favorite too. I really miss my Grandpa's Cookings 😢

Love this. I sometimes add chopped water chestnuts and wood ear if I have it on hand
The description is a coarser grind? MMM pork patty there is something about the combination of ground pork and sesame oil that is incredible.
I remember my mom adding diced water chestnuts, fermented mustard greens and an egg (either chicken or duck). Yummy
There are other ingredients instead of mushrooms. Mine is black fungus or salted fish or salted veggies
Yep yep!! I remember you doing this recipe in the instant pot. I tried it with chicken thigh back then and loved it so much!!
Flo My cat does this every time I talk on the phone. I think she thought I was talking to her.

I add diced water chestnuts too
OMG!! love this dish… always enjoyed it as a kid and I literally had this a few weeks ago only no mushrooms added. ❤

My mom makes something similar but it never had so much sauce and she uses a very salty preserved daikon.
It’s my favorite.
Grandma added water chestnuts and Chinese sausage. Thank you for reminder. Store run tomorrow!
Thank you for sharing Flo and Dude have a blessed day stay safe and healthy. Looks delicious yummy 😋😋😋🙏❤🙏❤🙏
Than you Flo..one if our favourites too when we were kids...❤
I love this especially how you make with steamed eggs, it's my favorite go to especially on keto❤
Happy Sunday!! Going to give this one a go in the instapot! 😊
Hello guys. That looks so good. I'm feeling hungry now. Thanks. Take care.
Simple but delectable ❤❤❤
It looks delicious. I should have my new cookbook by tomorrow 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Flo, I can't believe missed this episode. 😢 You got me on pork. Lol
My all time favorite is with a piece of salted fish yummy 😋 extra rice please lol
Thanks Flo 🙏 have a great week ❤
Mmm!
When I was a kid, I also didn't like anything green except money. A salted egg is visually amazing. I need to see the cat as I am a cat lady.
Thank you, Flo!
This was definitely a childhood favorite my late parents used to cook. They added water chestnuts, Chinese sausage and soften dried mushrooms. I would like to make it myself in the Instant Pot. How long should I cook it in the IP? Thanks Flo and Dude! Happy Weekend!
15 mins should do it. 😊
@@FloLum thank you for responding!
Looks really good. I will try this soon
Sounds delicious, but when picking the Pork, what is the fat to lean ratio and can I add other vegetables to the dish
Thank you ❤
I can’t wait to try this 🥰
This looks delicious and I’m trying it today. I don’t have mushrooms, but I’ll add 1/2 chopped onion.
Why do you add the corn starch after stirring?
🤔
I must try tis recipe soon, thanks
Love your recipes. I have a wok but electric cooktop. What kind butane burner are you using? Is it 15,000 btu's. Don't know which kind to get. Hope you can answer.
mom did not use mushrooms, but added water chestnuts and salted turnips finely chopped.
Your videos are so Inspiring. Thank You. :)
Add some chopped up water chestnuts. It's amazing
How does this compare to your original steamed pork recipe with instant pot? I tried that a while ago and I've been craving it again lately so this video came up at the right timing!
Just added some mushrooms. Sometimes people just need a reminder! 😉 And I made it in a steamer vs the IP.
Looks delicious. Can this be made putting the plate in a bamboo streamer?
For sure!
good recipe.. why no garlic or ginger and why need flour? tqvm
Question Flo are you familiar with steamed pork dish Hom yu?
Where can I get those little bowls that Dude is eating out of at the end (I know I can get little bowls anywhere, but i like that particular design :) ).
We got them as a wedding gift so very long ago but I think they are from a Japanese store in town called Utsuwa-No-Yakata. I believe they have an online store.
@@FloLum Thank you! :)
comfort food i love steamed pork hash
Looks so yummy❤
I, also add minced ginger and water chestnuts to the dish.
Would ground beef work in this recipe technique?
Reminds me of home ❤️
Can you substitute beef for the pork?
It looks so good 😃

His name is Dan or Daniel so I presume the name Dude is a nickname.
Can I use mince chicken?

Yummy! I haven’t had it with duck egg in ages! But wow… making you’re own?! 🤯
Legend has it, the band One Direction got their name from watching a Chinese chef mix ground pork.
🤣

Yes. 😣 Just getting over one.
@@FloLum a wonderful dish for treating a cold. My Grandma would make this dish for us all the time
I just made this. Added some garlic and ginger.
