First time I've seen your site, and this is exactly what I've been looking for. Only been on ebay for three weeks, and most everything I've sold has been small and first class. Thank you for sharing. Watching your videos I’ve learned how to ship.I’m going to watch your other videos to really get going. Setting up my account completely listing and more, I have an account with them yrs. Ago just haven’t bought anything or sell anything on there yet. Thank you again
@@AshleyWheeler2.0 thank you for asking. J really don’t know how to sell on eBay I’m watching other videos to learn but thinking if I should or not yet. Nothing in particular yet. I will let you know soon:) I’m not making any sales on Posh, so I want to list on other platforms. Thank you so much
Depends on the item youre selling. I used to sell items that i knew it would sell for 75% or more of of what I bought it for and i started the auction at $.99 lol Always free shipping ground. not so "hot" items i used to do flat rate and buy it now listing.and then Ill will add the "free shipping" in the buy it now price. Some people just do like dollar stores where they only get cents on an item. too much slave-like work. Ebay used to be a trade plataform where you can get great rare deals lol Trade something that sells and not pay much attention on the shipping issues🤗
Amazing video with lots of great information. My biggest road block is understanding shipping. How do you set up your templates? Thank you for helping us and sharing your valuable information!!!
I like this video and very informative, but for some reason I am not seeing the drop down with prices already there (ex. $3.99). My drop down gives a choice of how to ship and which carrier, but no cost next to it. Looks like I have to go and "calculate shipping" each time. I don't know what to price these as. Agh! Has eBay changed since this video? Can I just type in the cost of First Class as $3.99 and be done with it?
So I created a business policy that automatically has the filters. But for now you can push the flat rate option and put in the amount you want the flat rate to be. You can do that on both the mobile app and the website. So yes like you said at the end of the comment- put in first class and put in 3.99. If you need to do something over 1lb make sure you filter to "flat rate envelope" or priority mail and then put in the cost.
@@AshleyWheeler2.0 I have too many questions lol. I was wondering about the USPS priority mail tyvek bags. I overthink things so for example the tyvek priority mail envelope that is 11 5/8 wide and 15 1/8 long and I was wondering if I put in a clothing item that fits in there do I enter the size written on the tyvek envelope or the size that I made it once I've sealed it with the item in there?
Ashley! This is great content. I still find calculated to be cheaper in general than flat rate, unless of course if the item is heavier and going far. I’m in NYC and found that once Flat Rate was cheaper..going to like NV for a 4lb item.
This is such a helpful video! I have watched you on WhatNot and then came here. I just had my first item sell on eBay and was confused that the buyer paid for it all and then I had to pay from my balance for the shipping label. Is that how it always is even if I start using flat rate? I lost money cause with fees it took a lot of of the sale. Thank you!!
@@AshleyWheeler2.0 I am currently using flyp but I am not doing something right. Need to focus on it again so will let u know if I need some direction. Thank you for all u do!
Hi, I'm sorry, I have a stupid question - if I'm shipping First Class (which I just learned has tracking so I'm less afraid to use it) I can't put the label on any of the USPS priority flat rate boxes right? Thank you!
Hi I just tried to list a few cosmetics on eBay and they changed the site again what would be easiest way to mail 1lb and Lessing have sold for 2 years on eBay and have 100% rating. Now they changed site again,Help Barb
I actually stopped selling cosmetics because of this. The only way I saw that it makes sense to sell cosmetics is if you bundle the items today and put free shipping. I use the small padded ebay polymailers to ship the items, but it still cost close to 3.00 to ship. I haven't checked the small flat rate envelopes recently. But I followed Lindey Glenn for quite some time and she does a lot of cosmetics and house hold products.
@@barbaravandervaart6633 I have a lot of videos on my channel that shows where I go to my inventory. I would check those out so you can see. There is a playlist on thrifting with me, unboxings, ext.
Hello, this is great, I have a question, when you use the up to 5lb option, si the shipping label always USPS prioriity or is it USPS parcel select ground? Their customer service advised me not to use any of the priority mail envelopes or boxes when shipping withe them because they said the post office might not accept the packages or want to charge me more, has this happened to you?
Hey there, I used sendle to ship something I sold on ebay but their shipping label was not Priority Mail, was parcel select ground :( their customer service cant tell me why or how to make sure to only get priority mail labels for ebay, may I ask how you did it?
Hi Ashely! I have been looking for help for a long, long time. Thank you SO much. Do you ever ship hard goods also? Like cookie jars, mugs and such. If so, how do you ships those for the best price? I can't wait to watch your other videos!!!
Thank you so much Sara! when we've sold coffee mugs before, I've used either the perfect square box off the USPS website or the squared box from ebay, wrapped it in packing paper sheets and put the mug around poppers or other packing stuffing (like the packing I get from Amazon orders). Then I purchased a sticker from Amazon that says "fragile" amzn.to/3DMyRYB this is the packing paper I use amzn.to/3aKupNG this the fragile stickers I use. Don't use the USPS fragile stickers otherwise they will charge you an extra service
Hi, Ashley! This was such a helpful video!! I just gathered 10 items from around my house and listed them on Ebay! Yay! But, what an experience.....it took me three days to list these 10 things! All the choices for various size boxes and then trying to find the best size box for things I may never sell, it was crazy-making! Laughter!! So, after trying to sort of understand Calculated Shipping, I have a few questions: 1. What is the advantage of using your own boxes and doing Calculated Shipping? Does shipping end up being cheaper for the buyer? 2. With Sendle, can you use the Priority large flat rate box to ship with them? Or just the Priority envelopes. And 3. You said you were going to adjust your over 5 lb estimate higher. To what did amount did you decide? Thanks again. Now I will go watch your video again! Thank you!!!! I just subsribed!
Welcome to the subscriber family! I appreciate it and will probably do more videos about eBay soon. That is the hard thing about ebay is getting use to the amount of drop downs to explain the item. It's a lot to take in. But the process is worth it. 1) Using USPS free boxes is typically what I do more of the time. The only problem is if you need to ship something via fedex or USPS. So that solely depends on the products you sell. Which items do you plan to continue selling? 2) Sendle does not use Flat Rate. Sometimes those boxes are beneficial to have on hand buying shipping is better on ebay versus Sendle. 3) Right now Sendle is increasing their rates (due to USPS increasing their rates) so I will probably bump it to 9.99. Right now it's at 8.99
Thanks for the info! Where are you getting the things you sell? I want to sell some of my own art, so I need to find the right packaging for larger paintings...any suggestions? Thanks!

I'd like to see what you use..spreadsheet wise..to keep up with everything. I'm considering using Mercari for a few things. I'd like to know your experience with Mercari and how I can keep up with all my listings including different platforms! Thanks so much😁 Darla
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comments. I haven't jumped onto the Mercari wagon, but I do know @hairytornado & @hustleathomemom just created videos about Mercari that would be very valuable.
Thanks for a very informative video! Just to clarify something: If I were using Sendle, I could use a medium flat rate box if that was the best fit? Thanks again!
My assumption is no, 'cause flat rate is a straight cost. However, that would be something I would ask Sendle directly. I've always passed by the flat rates just to air on the side of caution, but they might say yet since it's a Priority box.
I am still confused .... if you are charging a flat rate or first class rate on eBay, can you use a priority envelope or box? Or can you only use one of those if you select a priority rate? You're talking about a flate rate, but showed us a priority flate rate envelope. Is this the same thing?
I charge a “flat rate” in my listings to ship. That can be 3.99 7.99 13.99. I don’t do calculated shipping because eBay sometimes makes the shipping a lot higher then what it needs to be. I USE flat Rate envelopes or boxes sometimes to help with cutting price down on shipping. For example- most jeans go in a flat rate envelope and the shipping cost is 7.99. Sometimes I’ll use other boxes that aren’t flat rate, it just depends on the piece. I hope that helps. I do plan to do an update shipping video soon.
@@AshleyWheeler2.0 I got the legalsize flat rate envelopes, but my jeans won't fit. How come we can't use the tyvec ones? All my stuff fits in those so well. If I use a medium priority box, doesn't the rate go up?
@@bajacowgirl3170 yes the medium priority box goes based on weight and measurements of box so it will cost more. The tyvec on is the same, it will go by weight and measurements of the bag. If you want to put that into the ebay calculator for shipping you can see if it's cheaper you can. With the legal flat rate envelopes we shape it to have more of a base so it's easier to put sweaters and pants in. I will within the week put a video up about how we do that so you can see.
Hi Ashley, Great video! Very informative. I do have a question regarding USPS first class shipping. Today I went to my local post office and was advised by the attendant that the maximum weight for first class is 13 oz and not 15.9 oz as I was under the understanding. Is this accurate?
If something goes above 15 OZ I round up to Flat rate envelope, whether regular or legal flat rate. But if it's lower that 15 oz you're okay to use first class. Unless they've changed the weights I was always told it was one pound and under. Even eBay said that in their conference this year.
You’re not wrong and it’s very confusing! The USPS website does say first class goes to 13 oz., HOWEVER ebay and other sites have their own deals and first class can weigh more.

I don't understand why people are scared of first class. While you're listing, weigh your item with a polymailer or a box that its going to be shipped in. If its 16 oz or less, it goes first class. The USPS, UPS and Fed Ex are making a fortune off of resellers because they're paying for unnecessary shipping costs.
Yeah I think it’s just the fear of the unknown. And you’re right. I put my items in bags when storing so I’ll sometimes weigh that item in the bag if I need to know ahead of time. It’s just like if the item was in a poly mailer.

Trade something that sells and not pay much attention on the shipping issues🤗
I'm glad that system worked for you thats great!
Great info
Thank you
Amazing video with lots of great information. My biggest road block is understanding shipping. How do you set up your templates? Thank you for helping us and sharing your valuable information!!!
Thank you so much for commenting! i'm so glad this video was beneficial to you. I set up the templates in the business account details.
So straight forward and informational!
Thank you!
Thank you! i'm glad it was very helpful.
This was a master class!
I love this! I will definitely do more of these kinds of videos. Do you have any other things you would like me to go through on eBay or Poshmark?
Definitely with every item you ship it can vary. I'm glad calculated still works well for you.
Thank you!!
helped but I can't figure out how to move item already listed on posh
There’s a lot of crosslisting platforms to help you do that. I have a video about one, do you want the link?
@@AshleyWheeler2.0 I am currently using flyp but I am not doing something right. Need to focus on it again so will let u know if I need some direction. Thank you for all u do!
Hi, I'm sorry, I have a stupid question - if I'm shipping First Class (which I just learned has tracking so I'm less afraid to use it) I can't put the label on any of the USPS priority flat rate boxes right? Thank you!
thanks for the sendle info. never heard of it. love 101 stuff. always learn something.
Definitely reach out to sendle to see if you can still get the 5 shipping labels free. Let me know if you do.

Not sleep rather sell.
I just started eBay and I did the same way😂. Flat rate. In order to have eBay store option how many listing you are supposed to have?
Then I purchased a sticker from Amazon that says "fragile"
amzn.to/3DMyRYB this is the packing paper I use
amzn.to/3aKupNG this the fragile stickers I use.
Thanks!
I check out USPS shipping boxes as well as ebays box sizes. Anything else I go to Amazon or Home Depot for.
What is the difference between eBay standard shipping and just the regular shipping? When it comes to international shipping.
I just have mine set up to be approved for global shipping program and they take care of all of the additional shipping.
Thank you so so very much! You are a rockstar! 💯😎🤘🎸

Great tutorial! I have been a seller off and on over the years. I am just starting to consider selling clothing. Your video helped me tremendously (like how to stuff..stuff🤣)! Keep up the good work! I'd like to see what you use..spreadsheet wise..to keep up with everything. I'm considering using Mercari for a few things. I'd like to know your experience with Mercari and how I can keep up with all my listings including different platforms! Thanks so much😁

Thank you so much for the thoughtful comments. I haven't jumped onto the Mercari wagon, but I do know @hairytornado & @hustleathomemom just created videos about Mercari that would be very valuable.
Also, I'll look into doing a spreadsheet video soon. Thank you for the idea
I am going to start with one item. I true to do 10 and couldn't even find my listings. If i can't find listing i have no control. 😢
Like you listed 10 items and couldn’t find them in search?
Yes pls help I'm not working I want to do this
AMAZING! Do you know how to get the shipping boxes?
Thanks for a very informative video! Just to clarify something: If I were using Sendle, I could use a medium flat rate box if that was the best fit? Thanks again!
My assumption is no, 'cause flat rate is a straight cost. However, that would be something I would ask Sendle directly. I've always passed by the flat rates just to air on the side of caution, but they might say yet since it's a Priority box.
Can you ship a personal box on usps or you have to use there own boxes ?
Oh yeah you can use an Amazon box if you want. You just can’t use a UPS or FedEx box. And likewise you can’t use USPS boxes unless the label is USPS.
I want to learn 😊 informative 🔔💯
Keep watching my videos and asking any questions you have. I am happy to help you out.
Do you just sign up for sendle and link it to ebay? And yes this was very helpful, Thank you
Yes! I'm actually planning to do an update video about Sendle very soon. But yes if you sign up and link to ebay it's straight forward after that.
How do I use SENDLE when eBay now includes the shipping fees when the item is sold? Is there a way around it? I know your video is 3 yrs old ~ HELP
Yeah so they did change that, but they also added in Fedex and UPS and they are affordable options on eBay so I solely use that now.
I am watching this in May 2023 and I followed the link to ebay for the blue poly mailers. They are now $253.95/1000 That is ridiculous.
💛
Thank you for the heart! Did you find this video valuable?

I have been an ebayer for quite a few years I used to sell some stuff once in a while but no a lot. Before gas go so high and shipping went way up I used to guess a mate on shipping and get away with it . This was before they started charging for distant.
About a year ago I decided it need to start getting rid of my stuff and clean out the heard. I have so much crap to get rid of my goal is to move out of this town to find some place where people are friendly.
So I put up a carb and a tractor part and guessed what the shipping would be . I had to give the parts away got low bids on both and the shipping I put in didn't cover it because of the weight and dist ants and ebay went way up on their fees and I lost money of both items I was in the Red. I thought holy crap they nailed me on fees and the shipping I lost money and got soured and didnt put anything up.
I was going through my shop and I have so much I need to get rid of , I was talking to a seller in Ebay and sent him the two auctions I lost money on to ask him some questions and he saw how much money I lost on the auctions.
So anyway he tells me about calculated shipping and he suggested I buy a scale and he told me that when have the scale to box up the item with your packing and weigh it and get a tape measure measure the box and put everything into the box on Ebay for calculate shipping .
He then explained to me, and this is what I understood from him is when you sell the item, the seller puts in the zip code at the end of the auction and ebay calculates the shipping charges for the item for weight and dimensions and the distant and lets the buyer know actual shipping charges then he pays the auction amount and the shipping charges that ebay has told him that is due. Ok really simple I am very excited I order the scale right away and get everything set up! This is what I understood from the seller boy was I wrong.
This is where it gets very confusing this is where I need your help so please bare with me .
So I have the scale and get ready to sell on ebay I have a boat part and some shop manuals , three to be exact and they are heavy very heavy ! I do not put in any charges for shipping because at this moment I am thinking what the seller told me was the shipping charges will be put in at the end of the auction when the buyer puts in his location. I put in Media mail USPS for the shop manuals and the boat part I dont know what it was but it is also USPS.
I get the auctions posted everything is great! i am very happy woo hoo I pulled it off I got them posted I wont lose anymore money on shipping ! I was so excited !
The excitement didnt last very long . I checked my auctions the following morning and ebay SLAPPED ME with shipping charges I did not put on my auctions. They put on $9.91 for the shop the heavy shop manuals and $7.71 for the boat part ! What the hell ? Why in the hell did they slap me with these very low shipping charges on my auctions that I did not put in? I was so up set and so mad ! I had to go in and cancel both auctions . The manuals I think will cost at least $35.00 or more to ship and the boat part more than likely around $30.00 to ship and that is on the low scale .If I let the auctions run I would of lost a lot of money . I live in Nv if I sell to somebody in Cal and somebody in Fl you know the shipping charges are going to be more in FL so why did Ebay slap me with these very cheap shipping charges i did not put on my auction? I dont get it I though I did everything right and ebay exempted that it was Calculated shipping

Is this your full time job?
