At the end of this video you said we should be and you are proud of us for coming to RUclips to learn and for doing, in my case selling on EBay, to better ourselves. Thank you so much for saying that! I just started selling about three months ago and it’s been a lot of hard work and learning along the way but it is really starting to pay off. I thank you and countless others here on RUclips for sharing your knowledge. Most family and friends were doubtful and quite honestly full of negativity so I do appreciate hearing a vote of confidence. Thank You!
As a “retired teacher baby boomer” I am extremely excited to find your channel and learn from one who understands e-commerce in todays world. Young people with a passion, purpose and sincere concern for others give me hope for the future. Thank you for the knowledge, encouragement and for being one of those young people!
Thanks for the info. Have an eBay account for over 19 years but never sold anything just a buyer but always thought about it. Wife did it many years ago but struggled reading books etc on how to set up and sell on eBay. Now 12 years into retirement and have acquired lots of stuff I’m jumping in. Thanks to folks like you and others on RUclips you helped smooth the transition from buyer to seller.
We are able to find boxes, bubble wrap and packing materials without having to pay for them. Our neighbors love that they know we will take them and recycle!
I was so confused about shipping when I first started reselling. I was losing so much money until I stumbled across your first video on shipping. So thank you for that very informative video. I’m now even making a few extra dollars hear and there after purchasing my labels.
Thank you all of your information. You just made shipping so much simpler to pretty much just use USPS Ground Advantage. That made it so much easier. I also agree with not using ziplock clear bags. We have too much plastic in our world and don't need more and love the recycling of boxes. Thank you.
You are amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This is the 5th "how to ship on ebay" video I've watched and is, by far, the best! And, wow man, thanks for that kindness at the end telling us we should be proud for even trying. What a great guy! Continued success to YOU!
Hello Jride, I been watching all your awesome videos for the last two days. You have amazing ideas. All videos are very helpful. I use to be top rated power seller on eBay from 2001 till 2018 and I took a six year vacation break...Now I am back again. Its exciting to learn all the changes on eBay and to hear your tips. Thanks
Love that you use newspaper the same as I do, I also use a crosscut shedder and shred my junk mail, it makes great void fill for smaller items. I have never had one complaint.
I've been watching tons of these ebay videos non-stop with hopes to eventually start my own store. There's some good videos out there but yours are great-amazingly helpful!! To the point. No extra useless babbling. You're so genuine. Passionate. Efficient. I can tell you're truly doing this because it makes you happy. I'm also from Utah so you just got a new sub and I can't say it enough THANK YOU FOR ALL THE INFORMATION !! You're helping change mine & my family's lives in so many ways💛
I now buy boxes too. At first I'd source boxes and keep them in a spare bedroom (no garage). After running out of space I started breaking them down but I could then never find the size of box I needed! LOL! Then the costs of fill materials and bubble wrap skyrocketed. I figured I could save money in the long run by having the right sized boxes. (I sell breakables). Now I have what I need 99% of the time and don't have to dumpster dive (I'm too old for that any more!).
@shannonlacy6117 yes, shipping costs more as the distance increases so determining flat rate shipping costs is better left to more experienced sellers.
I've made a few equipment purchases that have helped my business out a bunch. Rollo printer to me should be the first big ticket item you invest in. The next item I bought was a chinesium pillow machine. I make my own bubble wrap and pillows and its awsome saves money and space in my shop. I sell a lot of media so the last big purchase was a cd restoring machine but i would only buy that if you sold alot of music disks games or dvds. I love free boxes but when i switched to buying them it saved me so much time and space in my shop it was worth it to me. If you buy them in bulk you can easily hide the cost of a box in the shipping price.
Yes any more information on shipping is helpful. I have been refunding shipping overages to avoid negative feedback. I’m a little confused on what the buyer actually sees as their shipping costs when they agree to purchase the item. I thought they were able to see exactly what that cost would be and therefore be upset if they got additional charges. I tried paying the additional fees at the post office but found out I can’t. Please elaborate on this more if you decide to do another shipping video. Thanks so much!
The buyer doesn't see the shipping you paid to send it. It can be kind to refund extra in some cases (like in combined orders -sometimes ppl ask to combine so I refund everything over cost). But if you look at the label that gets printed for ebay shipping, it shows size/weight, address, etc - but not the cost of the label.
Question about shipping the massager you got an offer on…don’t you need to put the weight and dimensions in when you are first listing the item so the buyer knows the shipping price?
Thank you so much for this precise and informative video!! I'm a 2 week newbie with only 4 sales so far. But you've confirmed that I will get the hang of it. It's the "shipping" that I fear most. I feel so much better about shipping after your video! Thank you, again! Wish you much success and please do keep making videos.
Thank you so much for all the information you gave. It was very helpful. Also thank you for the last message it touched my heart. I’m trying to help my family get ahead. Times are tough but we need to do something to better our family situation. I just had my first sale yesterday and i was so excited! i made all the mistakes made like a $14 dollar profit but it felt good to do it! I was so proud of myself cause i needed to know i could do it. ❤ May God bless your business and help you as well.
Learned recently how to create a policy passing the shipping discount to the Buyer on Calculated Shipping. There are so many situations where tailoring policies to different items and target markets can help increase sales. The legal size flat rate envelopes are the ones that have come in handy a few times ( ordered through USPS ) but yes , poly bags for sure , i like the large 14.5 x19 for things like Jeans and Hoodies.
Haven't even watched yet but thank you! Hard to find good videos on this. So far do all clothing, but I have bought big jackets, boots, shoes, hats and haven't bothered listing yet just because I don't want to mess with shipping. It's one of those things I keep putting off until all my clothing is listed then I was going to get around to it. Not to be confused with procrastination... lol
Great Video - You are straight to the point and easy to understand. You don't take a bunch of shortcuts (as many people do because they are already familiar with the process) and I really appreciate the down-to-earth attitude. Thanks so much!
I have watched soooooo MANY shipping videos on RUclips over the past year or so! I have also had more than enough inventory to sell (some worth quite a few hundred). BUT, the shipping has ALWAYS held me back! I don't know if it was how you explained it or (which I feel it was this) if something FINALLY clicked, but it did!!!! I am totally ready to get started! Thank you soooo MUCH 😊
One thing about printing your own shipping labels and maybe you said it and I missed it. If you enter too much or little for the weight when you scan it or the post office does it will credit or debit the weight difference from your account. So yes you want to be correct but the first few packages don’t sweat it just send em!
Man this shipping stuff sure can be overwhelming but I am so appreciative of your videos. You’re making this all easier for us.. usually by now I’d scrap this whole eBay reselling gig because of the confusion of shipping.. but this time I’m going to stick to it and forget the “how” that usually causes me to give up. I’ll learn as I go and understand that I may make a mistake or two along the way. 😊
Thank you ... this was great information. I've been trying to learn the best shipping method for my new EBay business and was getting VERY frustrated. Your information seems doable, logical, and a great starting point that I can understand!!
Thank you for this video beginning to end. I’m struggling to start listing bcs I’ve been confused and overwhelmed with getting all the policies in place. This is super helpful and encouraging and what I needed to hear. Question- what counts as 1 day shipping? Does the pkg have to be at PO same day? As a side hustle, most of my packing and shipping will be evening with PO pickup or family taking pkgs to the PO for me.
Thank you so much for all the great information! I’ve gained so much confidence from watching your videos. Shipping is what has kept me from getting started. Thanks for acknowledging the time and effort we are all putting into our road to financial freedom! I’m proud of you too! Thanks again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💙
Oh definitely a part 2. This shipping information is what I have been hoping to see. So USPS calculated ground advantablge to start. I am a little fuzzy when you put the measurements and weight in. When you list it or after someone buys it? Thank you.
@@JrideFlipssorry if you already covered this but I'm stuck on whether you weigh the item in it's intended shipping box/mailer or just the item itself when listing. Thank you, I've been waiting for you to make this updated video...but I'm still not getting the "when"...ugh
Thank you this its the best video i watched and i learned thank you. I want to sell on ebay and shipping part was confuzing me but you explained it very good and i got it thanks.
Not bad ideas. I've been shipping health supplements for over 12 years using one of the shipping software packages and there are a dozen or more ways to cut that even further but for someone starting, these tips are golden! Nice job.
Is there a way to offer more than one method of shipping? I have USPS Ground Advantage currently but I'm having people ask me for a cheaper option or faster shipping. Also noticed that in the video UPS Ground was cheaper than USPS, why didn't you choose that option? Thanks
Thank you for this helpful video! Knowing how to save money on shipping and packing properly is as important as the items being sold. When not using USPS Priority Mail, I get free boxes from the supermarket , Target or Walmart. I go to the stores when they are stocking items. Can’t seem to figure out how to switch me eBay from personal to a business account. Also as a personal account do I also get cheaper shipping through eBay?
Would you please talk about what to do when a customer requests combined shipping after they have paid for the multiple listings? I list 1 to 4 card making stamp sets in one listing. Thanks for much for this video. I am a seasoned Poshmark seller, where shipping is so easy. I am venturing onto eBay but overwhelmed by shipping options. Please do part 2. Question: in this video, you chose shipping options after the sale, but I know you have to list the shipping cost prior to the sale. Do you weight and measure everything when listing?
Great video. I for one would like some more insight into flat rate shipping. When, how, tricks... Also, when I sell something with calculated shipping, it seems that ebay is charging the buyer exactly what my cost for the label is. Thanks!
I just found one of those dual massagers at goodwill today I grabbed that thing so fast, would have never even looked at one of those had I not been watching your content 🍻
so i've heard other do "Fixed" pricing for certain categories? this is to attract more buyers with a "lower" shipping price. Like for clothes under we do 4.99 flat rate ground because we are in san diego. I feel we sell a lot to the east coast so those prices may look unactractive.. we do 7.99 for over a lobs using flat rate envelopes to see where ever. i don't know just what i've learned. we have a small shop but get sales
I print the labels and put them on my packages. I think that im in debt to the post office, however i can find ways to help them, save them some time, im all about that.
Sadly, one of my biggest things has been shipping. It has defaulted to only ground advantage, which is fine, but I set in the measurements, and then the customer pays the shipping. The prepaid shipping amount that is part of the total, by the time I go to ship it at the post office, it always ends up costing an additional $1.50, and then once they take taxes out and then I subtract the shipping, my item ends up being almost $4 less than what I actually listed it for. So now I have to adjust my items for that issue. Hopefully, soon, I can get my own shipping label printer & a proper postage scale. I am starting with clothes that have been held onto and some other smaller items that won't be heavy to ship. Hopefully it equals out soon.
Just starting out, learned tons from you, very grateful. You seem to be the sunglasses guru....I have a pair of vintage Kenneth Cole New York KC7146A, and they are nowhere to be found for comps. These are circa early 80's aviator type glasses, Google lens marks them as $200 Ray Bans, as they look identical. How would you recommend comping please???
Hi, great video. I have scanned the many messages without finding an answer. I see that you measured the Thumper to get the dimensions for your shipping calculations. Just for clarification do you not measure the box dimensions? By the way I’m not a seasoned seller, just beginning.

Thanks, I needed that last part of your video
Yes please make a part 2!!
Thank you and congratulations on the 14K subs! Great channel here.
Thanks Texas lady!
Jride ... do you always use the 12x12x12 .. when you do your listing then go back in and change it when the idem is bought to the right box size ??
Same question... I just want to get it right the first time.
