People may be unaware but she got her master's degree at a German Music academy. That she grew up when the cold war was still a thing on on the border of Russia and Finland is no shock. 81% of Finns speak English. Her husband being from Argentina is where spanish comes in. Classic opera will be Italian and German so there is a bonus. For anyone disparaging her accent. I love her for WHO she is and WHAT she does.
No kinder, more beautiful soul I could wish every happiness and success on than Tarja. ❤

Thank you, for the reaction. I love this performance. And yes, Tarja is a polyglot, she speaks four languages fluently: German, Spanish, Finnish and English, and sings in other languages.

OK, so you want to hear Tarja sing in other languages? Here's Tarja singing 'Я здесь' ('I am here') with Russian heavy metal legend Valery Kipelov. I can not recommend this song enough:

Here's Tarja singing 'Song to the moon' by Dvorak in Czech, another amazing performance:

Here's Tarja singing Bizet's Carmen (in French) (this is a fan video, so the sound quality, while good, is not at pro level):

And here is Tarja singing 'La traviata' at the Savonlinna Opera Festival (another fan video):

    Nice reaction video!
To all those surprised about tarja singing in German: she sang many, many classical songs in German and she also collaborated with Schandmaul on one single, Zu Zweit Allein!

Such a beautiful cover from Tarja❤
    Thank you for your reaction!
Tarja indeed has studied in Germany, so she got to know some German while studying there.
And I am going to say it once again, Tarja's vocal range is huge.
I also think that Tarja is so good at making covers. She always ads to them something of her own. One of my favourite covers from Tarja is Linkin Park's Numb. I just love that version🥰 sadly there is no professional or studio version of it :(
Tarja has made a lot of covers over the years. Also very interesting covers from her is the bond song Goldfinger. If you want to check that out, please do the album version. The ending is better there in my opinion😊
There is also a cover of Alice Cooper's Poison.

She also sings Ave Maria in German: ruclips.net/video/X7MNiVrF4ik/видео.html
p.s. Turunen studied singing at *Sibelius Academy* in Finland and at *Hochschule für Musik* in Karlsruhe, Germany. which is probably why she sounds so good singing in German.

👍🏼She also had German in school, and she was at the Goethe Institute in Helsinki. Her german ‚Ave Maria‘ is amazing and beautiful.

She fares similarly to Floor. She understands it, but finds it difficult to speak it because of the lack of practice. Here is an interview with the Scorpions that changes from English to German and you can see that she still understands everything:
ZDF Wetten, dass.. - Tarja Turunen e Scorpions Parte 1
There are also operas and operettas in German that are part of their classical repertoire.

@@Mischnikvideos Yes. But she speaks better than she says. 😄 I know the Scorpions interview. It’s from 2010. Tarja is so cute in it. 🤩 And even the reporter and Klaus Meine and Rudolf Schenker from Scorpions recognized that she is understanding everything in German…😂

You might also like a purely instrumental cover of this song: there are imo 3 organ versions, the one I love most is: "Rammstein - Ohne Dich (Organ)" by Jan Kopeinig from 08/27/2017 played in a church. I close my eyes while listening and just enjoy it. Keep it up and greetings from Germany🙂.

Tarja's Voice is..an acquired taste. I like her throaty tone very much. Her Vibrato wavers at times. She's got a classical style that suits her.

As a German native speaker I hear that she learned the lyrics by heart, not necessarily understanding them fully, but she does well and I could not do this in Finnish at all.

As a native German, I have to say she has a real good voice. But her german pronunciation is not on point. Sounds a bit weird to me! 😕

Tarja studies and live in Germany for three Years. A finnish accent is normaly for that short time. She sing that song in a very classic way. So the pronunciaition is every different from normal speak. Listen to ruclips.net/video/O_usLy5hKJc/видео.html . It's a song of Schandmaul together with Tarja where she sings nearly perfect german. Another song of Tarja in german is "Mein Herr Marquis" ruclips.net/video/761qOzEdl8E/видео.html . There you can see what I mean, that classical singing is always a little bit different.

Hopefully your finnish pronunciation is impeccable, Korinthenkacker.
