I miss jamming with friends. Everyone has scattered in the winds. Family and work, illness have kept us apart for too long. Time to gather, my friends.
Go, Andrew Marlin and Emily Franz! I have been a FAN of Mandolin Orange since I first heard Andrew and Emily's beautiful harmonies on the Chris Thile radio show "Live From Here" years ago. Then, today I heard Andrew with his new mandolin. It brings tears to my eyes. Such beautiful music, your band is spectacular!
Lemme tell you what pisses me off. I'm a musician, and I sit around with my friends, picking, you know. And somebody will tell a story like that, and we'll all smile or chuckle. Then we realize we're supposed to be picking, so somebody counts off a song and we start playing. And it's fine. But here, Emily kinda reminds them they're supposed to be playing, she counts it off. Suddenly there's magic and sparkle and rainbows and moonbeams everywhere, where there was just Andrew's mandolin story a few seconds ago. I really wanna understand how they do that.
Yeah, it’s another language and most of us just don’t get it, I know a local musician and she’ll be out with friends and she will just literally start singing out loud and she has an amazing voice and even they some of her musician friends are just blown away how she just does that Creating a heavenly sound While They’re out just walking around I guess if we’re there to hear it, we’re just damn lucky
I'll bet if I, a non-musician, were in that room with you and your friends I'd have that same feeling. In fact, I have had that feeling when in a room full of friends who just start playing. To me it's always magic, and always beautiful, and always puts a smile on my heart.
Yeah I get it, but if you & your jamming friends had stayed up all night for 3 days getting it perfect, then got together the next weekend just kickin' it, then it would be played perfect, too.
I hope you can make it to the Northern Indiana Bluegrass Festival for Memorial Day weekend, or Labor Day weekend. Also, the venue in Shipshewana, Indiana, Blue Gate theatre. I would just love to hear you live.
This is just wonderful. I am wondering if there is any way way to get you to Western Australia to play at the Bridgetown Blues festival amongst other gigs. We would so love you here. Let me know what it takes and I shall organise it. A good chance for a paid holiday in a country that will love you. Nev
I’m sitting here staying away from the world. Home alone enjoying great tunes and tuning out the world. Thank you.
I come to this part of the world, the world of great music on youtube and the comments from people who get it....when I want to hate the world less. ❤
Funny, I think we are neighbors then! :D
Definitely! ✌️🙏
Way to go Jennifer😊

Love the way they play acoustic instruments without pickups or amps, but have taken care obf the sound perfectly. A joy to hear
Yes, true acoustic recordings are so delicious.
If your music were food it would be a royal banquet. Absolutely love that song.

That's the most beautiful mandolin I've heard you play. Can I have it when you've finished with it?

You guys / gals are Awesome!
What a great band, I keep watching them on RUclips, hope to see them play live one of these days.
The one time I saw them it was a special duo set, just them two and they sound amazing. Now I have to see them live with the full band.
You won’t regret it! Feel free to peruse my channel. Lots of Mandolin Orange/Watchhouse/Andrew Marlin Band content from a variety of shows.

you are the good thing
I thought i was going to hear the Dillards classic hit, still a great song and great group
I wondered if they had gotten the name of the Dillard tune wrong, but no. Very nice performance of their song.
Actually so did I.
- Nice!
I thought they had changed their name? Any rate, such very good music.
This video was recorded before the name change.
@wheeliefun2276 then it was before November of 2023?
Are you going to (or have you??) released this session for purchase? I likey :) and will buy every song!
Such an awesome song, not quite sure on a couple of words, anyone got lyrics?
