54 year old guy here. I remember loving this back in the 80s on MTV. Alan Parsons Project is an incredible group and whoever made this video is a genius as well

Same! 43 as well, this song is so beautiful and nostalgic for me.. Reminds me of happier, better times.
While everyone in the 80's was debating whether Thriller by Michael Jackson or Take On Me by A-ha was the best music video, this gem totally slipped under the radar. Love it. More people should talk about this.
Would also suggest you to watch Hunting High And Low and Train of Thoughts by A Ha. Very good music video as well.
I've been familiar with this forever, and I was barely 7-8 when this was on the radio, so I have to doubt this went unnoticed. We're talking southern Europe, Spain to be precise, on top of that, so... Of course, no match in popularity with Michael Jackson at that point, but what could compete with Thriller era Jackson?
a good video with a lame song is no big deal

I was born in 1977, from Germany and grew up with music. Music still remains a part of me today. I love the music of the Parsons Project ❤.
Who would care?
Alan Parsons was and always will be a genius musician, sound engineer and composer. His work with The Beatles and Pink Floyd already made him a legend, but his work throughout the 80s definitely cemented that title.
The real genius was Eric Woolfson
This melody always haunted me since i was a kid, and i didn't know the name of the song, just found it, the chills are just ridiculous lol wow, i love it.
CarpathianCarl It's amazing to me that pretty much the same thing happened to you with this song, i just had flashbacks of the cartoon girl in the video, and yes the hook and melody, it's so weird that this song just stuck with me like that, but had no clue of its name or the artist. I remember when "Runaway Train" by Soul Asylum came out in the early 90's and i just thought "kinda sounds like that song" lol, little did i know i would find out what the hell that melody stuck in my head since forever was like more than 20 years later, pretty much by accident. Thanks for sharing this weird obsession with me, cheers! :)
***** I love this song and "Runaway Train" as well!
***** I was heading into my teens when this was released. It brings back some really bad memories of shit I had to put up with back then, but I still love the song to death.
***** I had the same experience! Going through all my teens with this vague haunting melody and flashes of the music video imagery. I tried for nearly a decade to find this song again, sounding like an absolutely insane person when bringing this up to everyone and shooting down every song/music video they were convinced was the one I was thinking of. And of course, when I finally rediscover it.. it's by complete accident! Figures. :) So glad to know it again though...
Kim Gee LOL that's awesome and indeed the same experience, and i bet this melody ALWAYS just popped up in your head randomly at any given moment, makes you wonder what kind of sorcery or magic earworm these guys put into this song to haunt a bunch of us like that, even though we were far too young when it came out. I'm just glad i was exposed to this kind of music so early in my life :)
1984...what a year....totally 80s it will never be another era like this one.
The Seventies were better
@@Canalboyable ~ Correct! The 80s surely offered some good music, you had to seek it out a bit more, but for overall creativity, diversity, musicianship, and abundance, the 70s win out! It's mostly a time of birth thing. People who came of age in the 80s think it was the best. They wanted their own thing.
The 70’s were better. There is no better era for music. This is a great song though. Always loved the APP.

Man, all these years later and this song still knocks me out. Brilliant video as well.
I'm 54 years old and grateful that I got to grow up in a time as a teenager when life was simple enough and this song always brings me back to the reality to appreciate the moments that we have now and when being that young then when you've taken things for granted as most usually do. Well that's life and we live and grow and hopefully learn to appreciate the finer things in life that really matter. I personally have failed many times and have succeeded in a few things, but that's life and just the way it is. I wish for everyone good years to come... ✌️🙂

Alan Parsons is incredible
. More talent in his pinky finger than 99% of artists today. Im 40 and grew up with my dads music. Dire straights ,Alan parsons , Pink Floyd /acdc/ Metallica/Michael Jackson and the rest. 80s was awesome , 90s had some excellent music then it really started backsliding.
I grew up in the 60's but was coming of age in the 70's and college years in the 80's!!
Truly an amazing time to experience some incredible music and a pool of talent that had so much DEPTH TO IT!!
Totally agree. The majority of today's artists all have their voices/music end product altered in their songs. Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Arianna Grande, Madonna etc...etc all do it.

Heard this song in 1984 when I was 10 years old.. I'm 46 now and still listening...
I was 16 Love there music :)
I was 11 when this song came out I'm now 47 and still love it truly one of the Alan Parsons Projects best
Me too!
Was 4 at the time, and only saw the video on TV a bunch of times. Didn't find what it was until some 30 years later.
The same
One of the most elegant melodies ever written!
When music was grand and MTV played videos
MTV used to play music? :O
And History Channel was about HISTORY, and Discovery Channel was about DISCOVERIES and TLC was about LEARNING.
@@dermontbud2798 Yes. Just too bad that history was very inaccurate about history, and discovery channel was not much about discovery more like african and australian wild life.
@@obiwanfisher537 yes they did
Well - when rap got to be so big and popular - just seeing guys squatting on a corner or walking and swinging their arms and yes- the girls were babes, but the videos were too repetitive. That is my one theory as to why MTV QUIT PLAYING VIDEOS!!!!

The woman lured another one.
❤👍love love 👍❤
Disgusting stupidity and gynocentrism, not "love".
Слишком плохо, что такие глупые комментарии кто-то оставляет со студии. Стоило бы наказать бичевку и гоминидку иррациональную.
👁️🗨️♣️💯🇺🇸👍🎸🌚🧑🦰🧑💼💕😂
Lay down on your bed, turn on his music, open your soul, and let your spirit soar to the stars with Alan Parsons leading. Sooner or later he's gonna take your breath away.
Mi ricorda questa canzone quando era in vita mio nonno ed aveva 82 anni quando ho scoperto questa canzone è l' abbiamo ascoltata insieme anche in presenza dell' altra mia nonna che aveva 72 anni.
Haunting, hymn-like, wall-of-sound, genius, masterpiece. Magic.
Nice description, epic song.
Yes, wall of sound. I knew there was something nostalgic about this. Good ear!
Song makes my throat and heart hurt. What a time to be alive when this came out, huh?
I was .. incredible still beautiful.. the memories come flooding back 💕
It absolutely was and am proud to have been a child of the 80s
Ah, if you want one that REALLY puts a lump in your throat, listen to their song "Time." I can hardly get through it without a tear.
This song was off really one of the most interesting albums he created called ammonia avenue. The combination of melodies song and different songs and a couple of instrumentals all around a great album listen to.
so thruh!!!
I was a kid in the 70's and a teenager in the 80's. Fantastic music. I doubt you will ever hear songs now with a killer sax solo or a guitar solo for that matter.
Most songs, no matter how good they are, are lumpy mattresses. This song is a Tempur-Pedic: I lay down and it fits me perfectly every time.
I was 13, and I was in love. The deepest and purest feeling I have ever felt in my whole life. Fire in my heart, no less. That song was an important part of the soundtrack of that emotional "roller coaster". Every time I hear it, I evoke those moments, I feel goose bumps. Cheesy...? Yeah, sure, but I do not care. I feel still alive, no less.
and god bless you for it WE NEED MORE ROMAntics it is a hard won battle to find love [I've had some bright spots myself !] so it is at least we have those brief moments with music !! Enjoy the HOLIDAYS !!
loved this video one of my favorite video of all time and a great video and song.
Ramon Plaza not cheesy. We can relate!
Ramon Plaza That is a beautiful experience that no one should be denied. Thanks for sharing!
goosebumps are good !
Amazing terrific sends shivers down my spine ... saxophone brilliant !!!
This Band is one of the most succesfull one's of the 80's ...the quality of music, lyrics and unique sound....
I believe in the power of magic. Thank you, Alan Parsons, for helping me to believe in love. Beautiful music.
As the song says, it's all a fantasy.
This is THE song I end karaoke nights with. End the show in a mellow way. Everyone leaves on a cloud. These songs are meant to be shared and performed by ordinary people like you and me. Never forget that.
Amen! Thank you.
I love music, it's helped me thru many hardships and broken hearts. This one is just one.
Who says there’s no such thing as time travel. I was just beamed back to long lost era. The long lost art of MTV music videos. This video when bands cared about the art versus popularity and fame.
no alan parsons is just like an evil super duper mason, he doesn't need fame because he controls scotland and the entire universe as long as it's under an HSS satellite.
Long before our world of on demand streaming, this was one of those songs that would silence a room or car as everyone's spirits flew away with the music. ❤
Well said 👏 👌
