Schlieren Technology and Airflow

This video explains the set-up and use of Schlieren Imaging by Dr Kevin Nolan of UCD Engineering, an expert in this field. It has been set-up in the Mater Hospital's Digital Surgery Unit, part of the UCD Centre for Precision Surgery and the Mater's Pillar Centre for Transformative Healthcare. It's use is shown here for analysis of airflow around breathing and coughing and it is also being used in innovative studies on movement of surgical gases around keyhole and traditional open operations.
