  • Best lap of the weekend over a great weather day on Sunday. First outing of the season, and first time back on track in six months, so getting back into the groove. A key learning on car preparation. I have JRZ double adjustable shocks on the car. Over the winter I had the shop who does the annual nut and bolt take the shocks out and send to Olsen Motorsports for service. The shock dyno showed they were long overdue for service and now are back to where they should be. Because the loss of performance is so gradual, you don't notice the degradation. My lap times had fallen off last season and I was analyzing my driving and data to find out why. Well it turns out the shocks were a contributing factor as the rebuild and an alignment put the car back into top form. Now I have a service interval to follow for the shocks. Olsen recommends every two years for service. I was well beyond that. In this lap a tick off my PB of a 39 with the traffic holding up the exit of T12.
Also Road Atlanta modified the exit curbing of T5 by shortening the exit curbing that used to come to a point with a divot at the end. They shortened the curbing, removing the point and freshly paved the area around it making it a really nice exit now. Doesn't upset the car at all and opens up the arc for earlier application of power and more speed through the turn. Thank you Road Atlanta for that improvement in the lap.
