    I can't stand this idea of "I'm not trying to hurt anyone or be mean" with ethno-state supporters. This guy openly advocated for the arrest of legalized citizens, jailing them, and even exiling them based on their looks. And then he's shown how fucked up it is, he makes up the excuse, "Well, I'm not a politician." - He can never own up to the ramifications of his actions. Like even if you kicked out all the brown people, your "white" culture still changes. Even a 10 year span is a huge change within a culture. How different did white people act from 1995 to 2005. Do you parents have the same thoughts as you, do they celebrate the same things you do? Interested in the same things? Believe in the same things? No!!! Because no matter what precautions you do to avoid the "changing" of a culture, it will always develop on it's own naturally.....That's kind of what culture is.

    • @Dasqal
      @Dasqal 6 лет назад

      shampain Are you saying we shouldn't try to integrate immigrants because culture is a dynamic concept? When immigrants disproportionately fails to adhere to our values of the Republic, human rights, secularism, democracy and equality we should just say fuck it?

    • @drewinsects
      @drewinsects 6 лет назад +6

      Martin Where are these extreme cases of immigrants coming into America, settling in after gratuitous work to get there, and then suddenly not adhering to basic things like "democracy"? Whether or not they have extreme views about things, that's besides the point, you're allowed to in America. Many citizens do, that's kind of the point. There are no opinions that you can't have, but there's a difference between not liking that gay people can get married vs not wanting to follow the rules of the government of the place you move to. There aren't these huge group of Africans who huddle together and want to overthrow the democracy America has? There aren't huge examples of this, no one is actively trying to strip America of it's government. They probably, if anything, went to America because they valued it's principals more than the place they moved from.
      I have never seen extreme cases like this happening. If it were, I'd be hearing about it all over. You want to use a non problem as means of keeping out so many groups of people? That seems like you're doing it for no reason with no basis to back it up.
      Also, culture is a dynamic concept so these people that are coming over from their homes tend to naturally fade into American culture, with each generation, they identify more as American. Here's an interesting source of "ethnic attrition" to back me up: www.cato.org/blog/ethnic-attrition-why-measuring-assimilation-hard These studies say that as children grow up, even with the ideas passed down from their parents, they're and less less likely to identify ethnically with their more recent immigrant ancestors, and, due to spousal self-selection, they are likely to be more economically and educationally integrated as well. So there really is no point in trying to use scare tactics to try to have a white ethnostate because these problems don't exist.
      Immigrants don't come over to try to destroy elements of America that make America "America", they come over because they see these great elements and want their kids to have what they didn't. And from statistics, their kids are definitely identifying more and more with American with each generation. So what's the problem? lol

    • @Dasqal
      @Dasqal 6 лет назад

      shampain You're talking about America though, I'm talking about Europe. You're talking about a country with a gigantic population and where the immigrants are mostly Mexican, Chinese and Indian. Mexicans being your next door neighbor helping Americas need for labor and Chinese/Indians being respectful and highly educated immigrants. Not exactly comparable to a country like Sweden taking in tons compared with it's total size, having no need for a labor force and many of these immigrants being uneducated, Islamic and not integrating both because of the culture they come from and the fact that so many are coming in we're unable to properly vet them.
      "There aren't these huge group of Africans who huddle together and want to overthrow the democracy America has? There aren't huge examples of this, no one is actively trying to strip America of it's government"
      Do you really think anyone believes the 2,1 million Africans living in America are planning to overthrow it? I'm not even talking about America but if you ever come across someone who thinks that about America color me surprised. I agree thought that an American ethnostate would be idiotic. But it's not comparable with a small European country and Destiny refuses to ever debate outside of America.

    Something I've noticed about these discussions is that, this whole "ethnostate" philosophy essentially boils down to nothing more than a case of "I want to have my cake, and eat it, too." What do I mean? Here we have a bunch of people who happily identify with a ethnicity/culture that has pretty much treated minorities like shit, ever since they've had any sort of contact with them. And _these_ guys who, while they may have never *actively* sought to mistreat minorities themselves, have had absolutely no problems with benefiting from a society built on that mistreatment, simply because there was a ethnic numerical advantage in their favor. But now, seeing that the ethnic demographics are changing around them, and seeing the *possibility* of "karmic justice" coming at them in the future, what do they do? Do they suddenly realize that the mistreatment of minorities, simply because they're minorities, is wrong, and seek to rectify those injustices that still exist within their society, because of that mistreatment? No. They want either kick all the minorities out, or wall themselves off from them, just so they can enjoy the benefits of the society built off the mistreatment of those very minorities, and keep those benefits for themselves. It's the same as making everyone you know bring *You* ingredients, so you can make a cake, and you can all eat it. Then, once the cake is finally finished, You take it, run into the bathroom, and lock the door so you can eat it all yourself, and nobody can stop you.

      Dave the problem is that many ethnostate folk dont advocate for integrating, i think u can have a country of mostly brown ppl who act super white. Ppl are pretty malleable and change depending on their environment so much so that you do end up with ppl who have fully americanized down a couple generations. Infact destiny’s favorite point is that he believes in a national language. But even the language gap is gone in a single generation. In many cases a mexican living here for over 14 years who returns to mexico doesn’t even have the same speaking mannerisms even if spanish is a big part of their home life. Sorry but I don't understand these people. They are playing god by saying who can live (here) and who not. You basically believe people are born with sins and that sin is being different. And somehow the people you kick of of "your" country have to be accepted elsewhere. And what if the whole world applies it. Then you have to accept a different ethnicity, but this time you don't even know their identity or culture. And what does it amount to? That your culture is not getting to change with the new inhabitants? That the world is a better place to live? And the whole process is totally for free and not mentally damaging. And the time lost not being productive is somehow stimulating the economy?
    Im sorry but you are delusional if you think it is in your best interest to selectively send people from different ethnicities out of your country. You have to live with reality and even to protect your own culture it is better to live with these people then to having to accept newcomers. You just can't apply the hypocrite principle to only move people out of your country, because to have to go another country. And you are not the one making the decisions for the other country. And you also can't say I don't care what happens with them I just kick them out of my country, because it will be the same as deciding who is going to live and who not.

    Instead of having open discussions on how we can improve the living conditions and public opinions of these marginalized people, so that it doesn't matter if you're in the majority or not. He thinks:
    "We should just establish an ethno-state where the _________ race will never have to worry about becoming the minority."

      Not really. The idea of establishing different ethno-states for each race of people, detracts from the issue at hand:
      "That there are groups of people in some places, that are UNFAIRLY discriminated against...and the bigoted ideals that create systemic oppression need to be stamped out."
      Segregating one group from another, won't make those with bigoted ideals, be less bigoted. I'm not interested in treating the symptom, I'm interested in addressing the cause.

      Tell that to the untouchables in India, or the burakumin in Japan, or the Irish Americans in the 1850s, or the Tutsi in Rwanda, or the Rohingya in Myanmar, or the muslim Bosnians, or the homosexuals almost everywhere.
      Being the same race does not help because people will find something, anything, to discriminate other people against. Racism is just the word we give to a specific kind of discrimination.

    You can preserve certain cultural elements within a specific geographical region but culture as a whole (which encompasses food , language , customs , social dynamics etc) is forever changing because culture , just like information, is never stagnant . You always have to keep adding things to it. This is true of all cultures across history and the world.

    • @Riko1980
      @Riko1980 6 лет назад +2

      Part one of my response is here and I couldn't include all of your actual paragraphs/statements in my response and had to substitute them for numbers. I trust you can still follow my response pattern just fine....
      1*
      I don't see how your response has anything to do with my point. I wasn't even expressing my opinion of how race relates to culture, I was merely highlighting what the white nationalist notion of culture is and how *they* think it's intrinsically linked to race. If you disagree with that, as do I, then you're not disagreeing with me you're actually disagreeing with people like the debater in that video. Incidentally the very people that I assumed you were trying to defend.
      2*
      Firstly I can’t accept that consuming American media is enough for you to have a working idea of how American culture, or even social dynamics, operate. Americans aren’t like their sitcom characters after all. Also, you do know that American media is heavily consumed all across the world?
      Back to the topic. I never stated that American culture doesn't exist and isn't distinct from other cultures across the world. I merely pointed out how the alt-right (and those who share their sentiments) feel that the only American culture worth giving a damn about is white American and that in and of itself may be hard to define since it ranges from anything from country culture to punk culture , goth culture and everything in between.
      3*
      I've never heard anyone deny the existence of British , American or even European culture and I certainly haven't made that statement in any of my responses so you must be thinking of someone else. In my opinion European culture, which also encompasses British culture, is also much too broad to define . Many cultures can have certain aspects of ‘European culture’ but not be regarded as European in nature at all. I hate to bring up something as stereotypical as ‘cowboy culture’ in the US as an example but where do you see that in the UK of all places. Australia in my opinion is more culturally similar to British culture and yet even that is particularly distinct to the point where many Australians have a hard time settling in the UK and vice versa. Differences matter and similar does not mean same. But I guess we agree on that.
      4*
      You never got my point so I suggest that you reread that part of my response again.
      Why are you using the Congo as an example of candidates who would ultimately fail to integrate when I was specifically comparing a Mexican family to a Spanish one? Of all the places you could pick in this wide world you had to use the Congo as an example? A country that has been plagued by ongoing civil wars for literally decades? If you want to argue blacks vs whites I'll take you up on that but the Congo would have still been a bad pick for the reasons I just stated. Though in response to your statement, no I don't think a Spanish family with limited English skills , limited qualifications is going to fare better in the US than a family from say Nigeria who are better educated , better skilled and better financed. Unless the Nigerian family will be subjected to discrimination which is likely to happen for the reasons that I keep arguing against and not something that is inherent about the Nigerian family or even Nigerian culture. Also, you do know that first to second generation African migrants tend to have more degrees and have higher incomes than even those of the native white American population? Oh and it’s *Congolese culture*. You're welcome.
      *5
      I brought up African-American culture as a challenge to the notion that cultural preservation warrants violation of human rights and deportation of born citizens. Noone seems to be concerned with the ‘preservation of Africa-American culture’ despite blacks in the US making less than 14% of the entire US population and going as far as proposing to kick them out. This is hence not a cultural argument but a racial one. When you say more black people do you mean more African migrants to the US? If so then you don't seem to be aware of the distinction between American blacks and African migrants and yes even the ways who are naturalized or born citizens. In some way African-American culture can still be regarded as distinct but I will agree that the lines are certainly becoming more blurred than ever and may become increasing more blurred over time. What about famous white rappers? What about black people who don’t ascribe to anything even remotely associated with African-American culture? In any case it matters little to me what someone does with their life, I’m arguing on the basis of challenging white nationalist ideals after all.
      ‘ More black people, and less white people would surely favour a proliferation of African-American culture at the expense of the other.’
      What do you mean at the expense at the other? In that logic wouldn’t more white people cause a proliferation of white culture at the expense of African-American culture? I don’t want to play the ‘gotcha' moment but that is quite a peculiar response from someone who just a short while ago claimed he felt that these culture were coming together more and more.
      'I think this is an absurdity, and just deeply, deeply uncharitable.'
      I don't see a need to be charitable towards fascists but that's not why I said that.
      'I think even the stupidest people, who think the least about culture and life, are still aware of how significantly the world has changed.'
      There's a difference between understanding that the world has changed a great deal and resorting to white washing historical events to push your agenda.
      *8
      It’s a loaded question for exactly the reasons I stated. Who decides what is of worth and what isn't. What is desirable and what is not. Also who's 'we'? If it’s 'the people' then there are those who are in favour of immigration just as long as its regulated while there are those that wish to halt it altogether. You need to understand that immigration is not a one way street and that yes even British people can and do reside abroad since they are free to relocate anywhere if a host country is willing to accept them. If you terminate immigration into the UK from non-EU countries (or anywhere for that matter) you will ultimately need to bar British people from living abroad because the country will not function in the absence of skilled labour and a decreasing population made possible by British people relocating abroad. In doing so you will be infringing on the rights of Englishmen (like yourself) from choosing where they will ultimately reside and what they want to do with their life.
      'Whether that be the huge strains on welfare and all public services, or the reduction of wages and job opportunities, or housing issues, or housing costs, it seems pretty clear we're getting a raw deal, and the scale of immigration is too much.'
      This is a tiresome argument that I've heard more times than I care to recall and have had to debunk it just as much. How exactly is a skilled immigrant, such as a mechanical engineer from India, putting huge strains on the welfare and public services or anything else that you've mentioned? You do know that there are government policies in place in the UK to literally force companies to prefer British workers over foreign ones and that foreign workers have no recourse to public funds? Not to mention all the hoops that an immigrant typically has to jump through to just be able to enter the UK , let alone live there.
      More of that is explained here
      ruclips.net/video/KDlAAEmRRGE/видео.html
      I also need to stress that immigrants did not cause the housing crisis in the UK . You've got the Tories to blame for that. Immigrants didn't cause the NHS to crumble so that it could be sold off to private companies. That was the Tories again. Immigrants did not defund public services and limit the amount of benefits and social services that citizens are entitled to. I hope you're beginning to see a pattern here.
      So stop with the scapegoating and challenge those with the ability to turn things around and not people who are just trying to live their lives.
      *10
      So non-natives are only a problem if they become nationals? Curious since all the arguments given point to keeping non-natives out regardless of their residential status or potential for naturalization . You're also incorrect when you say they can never be nationals though I admit that kind of thing is only possible through a spousal visa and nothing else. I don't know about the existence of 'ghettos' in the UAE but I know that poverty is not limited to just non-natives. I'd actually much rather be a established and skilled expat than a poor native. But I guess poor natives aren't as much of a problem as DUH CULTURE to you. You also spent so much time laughing at my example of the UAE that you never addressed the Malaysian one. Could it be because Malaysian nationals could be of Malay , Chinese and Indian decent?

    • @Riko1980
      @Riko1980 6 лет назад +4

      Part two of my response...
      *11
      I’d never propose the UAE as a model country to be emulated with regards to immigration. I really loathe the treatment of expats in the Gulf and despise the outright xenophobia and discrimination that is targeted towards the same population that keep their oil rich states functioning in the first place. The UAE and Malaysia were merely presented as egs in which the native populations are the minority but still retain nearly all the power. You are also clearly unaware of the fact that most expats in the Gulf countries will reside there anything from 20-40 years, leaving only when they can’t do the job and go off to retire in their country of origin. Heck some of them stay on even longer if they’re adult children can take out dependent visas for them. I do acknowledge that it’s not the same as becoming nationals but you’re arguing on terms of cultural shift and not competition for public services/funds etc, as a result of a percentage of non-natives becoming the majority so essentially their residency status (provided that its legal) should be of no importance since their presence is there regardless and for a good number of years.
      If you’re asking me what I think would be a possible feasible approach to immigration that would require an even longer response. I will however say that the claim ‘we cannot accept everyone’ is fine with me, but the claim that we cannot accept anyone is not. The claim that we will not accept anyone on the basis of race is even worse.
      *12
      What leads you to believe that America has a ‘immigration crisis’? Especially since you seem to be defending the very people that claim that white genocide is real and that somehow non-whites are to blame for it. How can you theorize what America will and will not be like in the coming years and how does this relate to non-white Americans who , if white nationalists have their way , would be at threat of deportation. Curious how everyone needs to go except for the whites and then you make the arguments that this same discussion can be made without mentioning race.
      'Some people don't want their cultural path to be determined by other cultures, and many people like you resent them for that and rather than argue and refute their claims or their feelings, you tend to belittle them.'
      Likewise do you think that people are ok having their futures determined by those who hate them for no other reason than the color of their skin? That they should just let their lives been pulled out from under them and thrown wherever white nationalists think they should land because..MUH CULTURE. How is one a violation of humans rights and not the other? I have also done nothing but address their arguments with the nuance they refuse to acknowledge.
      ‘That's up to you, but I hope you realize, throwing people's feelings in their face may have the opposite affect of what you hope to achieve. As exemplified by the rise of the alt-right.’ Ah , as usual the classic ‘You made me a racist argument’. What is it that you think I’m trying to achieve? Whatever it is apparently it involves me not looking at issues with a sense of nuance and just accepting arguments as is. I mean how dare I point out inconsistencies in people arguments , regardless of how flawed they maybe. Also aren’t they the ones who usually holler ‘FACTS OVER FEELINGS’ ? Consider my stance then as just taking what they said to heart. See, I really am an attentive listener after all lol.

      I know that this is 5 years old but I’d want to get your take on this.
      What would you say about the argument that Swedish culture for example is Swedish because despite it changing and evolving throughout history, it was predominantly ethnic Swedes who were the deciders and drivers of that. Which is in contrast to many towns in Sweden today where Muslim majority populations live and do not adhere to Swedish culture. Would these areas not have had a dilution of Swedish culture? What if this continued to happen over an extended period of time? Would Swedish culture not be relegated to the pages of a history book or at least play a much smaller role in daily Swedish life for the inhabitants of Sweden?

      Can we define race based on physical appearance?
      Even though our DNA is similar, humans look very different from each other. But the traits we use to guess someone's race don't always work well. Think about skin color. There aren't just a few colors: there are more shades than you can ever count. The traits we use are also independent of each other. For example, being tall doesn’t mean you’ll also have dark hair. No matter which traits we use, there is no good way to group humans using appearance or DNA.
      Instead, everyone groups people into races based on the traits they think are most important. The way we categorize people into races changes over time, too. Think about people you know who are Irish or Italian. Today we might categorize them as white, like many people from Europe. But 100 years ago, they were not considered the same race as Americans with European origins. Humans love to organize things into groups. But when it comes to race, these groups tell us more about our culture than they do about our biology.
      The concept of race as a biological distinction is entirely useless.....except to intensify prejudice.

  • @XXgamemaster
    @XXgamemaster 6 лет назад +7

    Destiny makes a powerful statement around 1:16:30-36, namely, that Americans wouldn't have a defensible argument against Mexicans wanting to invade the U.S. because they essentially lost the moral high ground.
    The same concept can be applied to Destiny's position on veganism - he believes that only humans deserve moral consideration simply because humans are capable of entering into a social contract. Clearly, non-humans can't. Therefore, he believes that we can basically do whatever we want to animals (And yes, he actually says this during the Vegan Gains debate).
    But, such a worldview is ultimately based on prejudice. So, what would Destiny say to, let's say, an advanced alien civilization that wants to invade Earth and wipe out humanity because they don't think we are worthy of any moral consideration just like Destiny doesn't think non-human animals are?

    There definitely are examples in Europe of cultures being suppressed. The prime examples that come to mind are the suppression of the various languages of Britain, France and Spain (specifically the Celtic languages, Catalan and Occitan). So in a sense I understand where the guy is coming from, though it is entirely driven by emotion - I want to protect languages because I have a love of history and would be sad to see them snuffed out, not for any practical reason that I can think of.
    The problem with his logic however is that his answer is to become *more* authoritarian, which is *exactly* what lead to the type of suppression he is talking about in the past, without exception. These were all incredibly authoritarian governments. Rather than becoming more authoritarian and dictating to people where they can live based on hypotheticals and arbitrary rules, we should be working together to target governments and laws that actively try to suppress cultures.
    The fact that he could not come to that conclusion on his own makes me wonder whether he really cares about culture (the idea of white culture is completely ridiculous to me as a European), or if he just really dislikes brown people.

    • @kubeface115
      @kubeface115 6 лет назад +2

    ‘Western culture’ is a deterritorialized culture. We largely overcame the folkish tradition where arts and tradition lived and died by the people who performed them. But although western music and art undoubtedly grew out of a European cultural milieu it became the domain of transcendental individuals who developed purer and purer styles of composition. The art was sheltered in conservatories and museums, it was not spontaneously created by gatherings of people. Western art no longer relied on a communal practice but wrested its own domain where it could flourish in its own right.
    Whereas folk traditions played an integral part in the operation of a community Western art no longer did. It withdrew into itself and thus became universally appreciable. Orchestras in Tokyo and Nairobi play Bach and Schubert precisely because it is not the exclusive property of any one people. This is one of the greatest achievements of Western culture, literally becoming an ‘anti-culture.’
    Folk traditions are indispensably important cultural artifacts that can enrich life and instill a deep reverence for human history, but in the modern materialist world they will only exist at the periphery and will never retake the center lest we significantly regress.

    I just don't get how people can be that stupid. If you see a statistics on each countries IQ there's a strong correlation between developed countries having high IQ and undeveloped countries having low IQ. You know why that is? Because of the educational system. You can't judge 2 different people in terms of IQ if they've had completely different learning experiences. It makes no logical sense. If a guy had a great education while another guy didn't obviously the guy that had a great education would have a higher IQ. Also IQ isn't a determining factor of intelligence. Intelligence is a wide spectrum and you can't determine someone's intelligence over 1 test. Also there are tons of people who are extremely intelligent who have very low IQ.

    I'm starting to think the reason these guys want an ethno state is that in their hearts they know what they did to the minorities in the US is horrible and they wouldn't want that treatment for themselves

    it's so painful when someone makes arguments, without any historical knowledge.
    First:
    White people don't share a common culture at all. Europeans have been dividing each other across all sorts of lines over the centuries and fought countless wars along those division lines. The HUNDRED year war was between catholics and protestants. Austrian War propaganda during WW1 went like that: Every Brit a kick, Every Frenchman a strike, Every Russian a shot and Serbia needs to die. (in german it sorta rhymes). White europeans literally hated each other for the most part. The viewed each others culture as infirior and with great contempt
    Secondly
    If there's a thing such as european culture than it's most essential incredients are Creek philosophy and the Bible. Both of which were invented by brown people. If culural mixing and developing is so bad, you should probably try to restore celtic believs and societal systems as well as the nordic faith and the countless other very distinct cultures before christianity.
    Thirdly
    As an Austrian some essential parts of my culture were brought here by the Turks. Famous Viennese coffee culture comes entirely from these invations. You can find onion shaped roofs of church towers all across austria (also from the Turks) and Austrias most beautiful church (imo) looks like a mosque. Google Karlskirche
    The argument of course is even more pronounced when we look at spain. Spain was ruled by the Arabs for 400 years. FOUR HUNDRED YEARS. The left customs, food, architecture and even words, all of which are now essential to spanish culture. Do you have to get rid of that too?
    It just maked me lose my mind if someone argues so stupidly

    Was post WWII Britain an 'ethno state'? Is Latvia an ethno state?

    Ethnostate logic "We want to avoid people being forced to relocate and lose their place in the world so we'll do this by relocating people in the hopes that nobody will come along and force other to relocate because that's wrong".
    This is like the same type of logic the reapers use in ME3.

    Just FYI> Hispanic is not a race. Those who most Americans refer to as 'Hispanic' are in fact Amerindian, or Native American. They are, largely, the descendants of the same people who crossed the land bridge some 20k+ years ago. Though of course there is admixture, mostly white/Amerindian, as well as other, such as black/Amerindian, etc.
