Ranpo is one of those rare characters that act all high and cocky and arrogant but at the same time are completely justified in doing so. And you really love to see it, Ranpo IS amazing ^^
you should also realize how smart daizi is for figuring out most of that.
Rampo is the textbook definition of "Idiot savant." Man is a super genius detective that can't tie his own shoes lmao.
Fun Fact: IRL Edogawa Ranpo is a huge fan of Edgar Allan Poe. He's such a fan that he made his pen name 'Edogawa Ranpo' which is literally just the Japanese pronounciation of Edgar Allan Poe. (Edo-ga= Edgar , Wa-Ran=Allan , Po=Poe)
Fun Fact: Ranpo and Levi Ackermann has a same voice actor ☺️
Now I can't wait for them to react to Dazai's backstory and his intelligence. He and Ranpo are both geniuses in their own ways. Ranpo is a genius problem solver and can think out of the box while Dazai is the genius tactician and strategist
Became an official simp the moment he was introduced in this episode. Of course, you guys know since you're already on the third season but his character just gets so much better from here :)
For me, ranpo arrogance and cockiness is not only because he has all the ability, smartness, etc. and the writer try to make him a badass figure, but also because his character and personality are like a young kid. That explain why he so whiny, why there so many things he doesn't knows (like how to buy a train ticket), why he speaking so honest (even in the way that may make people get irritated), also why he likes many things that children likes (snack, sweets, and others). I think that is one of his charm.
Everyone goes on about how smart Rampo is and rightfully so, but they seem to forget that Dazai is pretty damn smart himself. He also figured out who the killer was with the clues they had available as well. Then advising Atsushi of the clues and the reasoning behind them.
I forgot how much this episode fucked me up man. So unfortunate for Sugimoto and his deceased partner rip
Ranpo is such a GOAT. He's a genius yet so dumb at day to day things lol he's one of my favorites too!!
I love how they showed the evidence to us viewers to show us how it was deducted to make it more believable and it made me fonder of Ranpo, that was a good detail to add in, it isn’t something that’s impossible, just have to be smart enough and think it through…or be a genius like Ranpo-San😌
Seeing Ranpo do work is like seeing the BBC Sherlock Holmes series. So much mind palace craziness.
Here’s some food for thought: Dazai immediately knew how Ranpo managed to solve the case, so in technicality he’s just as smart as him

dunno if someone has already mentioned it in the comments, but all their names are actual names of people - writers, and the names of their ability are the title of one of their books. Osamu Dazai is a real person, and he wrote No Longer Human, he also really wanted to commit suicide, which he was able to do in the end.
That's why he's my favorite, Ranpo-sannnn!!!
