Canada won the last World Cup qualifying group in CONCACAF and they're still getting talked about like a complete minnow, which is more than a bit unfair. By comparison, Venezuela's recent success is extremely recent, yet they're being talked about like an established dynasty. Venezuela are in better form, there is no question, and Canada have been fortunate with a hot goalie making up for a big time goalscoring slump. But statistically, Venezuela are far outperforming versus their xG, and Canada are far underperforming versus theirs. Venezuela's group also lacked a giant like Argentina, so their stats are going to be better by comparsion. If these two teams play up to their potential, it should be considered a fairly equal fixture that could go either way. I do think Venezuela have an edge based on form, but the idea that Canada has no chance is just a bad take. I think the world is still behind the times in their views of Canada - although they remain somewhat naive and lacking in depth, they have been a legitimately strong team for at least 5 years now. A few goals would sure go a long way, and it does feel like they're overdue.

Winning a group in the Concacaf is nothing to brag about, Concacaf is weak af. Venezuela is #4 in the wc qualifiers rn in a confederation full of big dogs. Canadá did beat Perú and Chile but guess what? Venezuela beat those teams last year in Conmebol as well. Venezuela is wanked #54 in the world ranking and Canadá is ranked #48. With all that being said I think is gonna be a close game.

@yeahboy9585 You just disrespected Honduras, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, USA, Jamaica and more. Venezuela would still have a hard time qualifying for WC out of concacacaf. Should be close one.

You forgot to mention how bad Canada embarrassed themselves at the WC and couldn't score more than a goal in their group with Chile being down to 10 men with an entire game left, mind you Chile looked much better when it was 11 players on the field. Canada was never winning that game against Chile without that red card, they should be happy they were put in a group with one of the worst Peruvian sides we've ever seen, as much as it would be nice to see Canada reach the Semi final, Venezuela will take care of business.

Finished top on Concacaf qualifying while going unbeaten in the 4 games vs U.S. and Mexico, put up some notable performances in a World Cup group with the then number 1 ranked team and two of the four eventual semifinalists (btw Venezuela has never even been to a World Cup), drew with one of the euro favourites in France, gave a good showing against the world champions, and got the required results to get out of a very tough group in our very first Copa, with a coach who has been on the job for less than two months… these guys are talking “does Canada have a chance”??? Ecuador was dominating Venezuela before the Red... Jamaica is a joke and we all know Where Mexico is right now... Venezuela was in far and away the easiest group. That's not to say they won't beat Canada, but these 2 teams are much much closer than people think... What Venezuela have is, imo, probably the best manager in this tournament at the helm... That guy has worked wonders and Venezuela are ALWAYS better after halftime adjustments... Davies will be the best player on the pitch and David is getting better every match he plays. Again, Venezuela certainly can win this match and in terms of form are playing better than almost anyone in the tourney but they're not a dominant side. Canada is getting some respect which is so deserved. They have played the two World Cup final teams (France/Argentina). They played friendlies against Netherlands and France. Those invites wouldn't happen or they'd play their third string team against Canada. Not this time. France was planning to give Mbappe a break but it became clear they needed him against Canada. Venezuela IS below Canada. It's utterly shocking how dumb a lot of the takes in these comments are. Venezuela have been getting good results recently, and Canada have been playing poorly. They played extremely well against Argentina, but then allowed the shamefully dirty play of Peru & Chile to knock them off their game. FYI, it's tough to break down 10 men who are defending all game, especially when the referee let's them get away with murder. But go back a bit further and you'll see that Canada is definitely deserving of their higher FIFA rankings. Canada drew 0-0 with France in a pre-tournament friendly. Venezuela drew 0-0 with Guatemala. Guatemala are a TERRIBLE team. Yes, Canada had bad results at the WC, but they had amazing performances. They absolutely dominated Belgium for 90 minutes that it's honestly unbelievable that they lost that game. I think losing that game drained them mentally. Against Morocco, they were completely switched off for the first 30 minutes. After going down 2-0 though, they were BY FAR the better team. In WC qualifying, they took 4 points each off both Mexico and the USA. I mentioned the embarrassingly biased refereeing at this Copa America. Well, even with this cheating scumbag ref deep in your pockets, you still deservedly lost to the better team today.

Not that Gareth Southgate is a good coach, but he makes about 5 million dollars a year. That is for one of the top 3 national teams on the planet. Berhalter makes about 1.5 million. The average salary for a Division 1 COLLEGE football head coach in the US is about 6 million a year! WTF?? If the US is serious about being a top international team, they need to increase their pay for their head coach by double and get someone that can drive the talent the team has. If you hire a Dollar Tree Coach, you are going to get a Dollar Tree results team. If these smaller nations can afford coaches like that, why can't the US? They are only the biggest media market on the planet. They are only the home to the most corporations on the planet. If they were actually good and could compete for big titles they would fill the stadiums more than half of 1/3 with their own fans. There is no excuse other than acceptance that mediocrity is the goal.

Canada🇨🇦 ⚽ male team is pretty weak, if they bring the female team to play against Venezuela🇻🇪, probably they will win. Canadian males are THE BEST in the 🌎 on 🏒 not ⚽.
