I have a 2006 Ford F-250 with a 6.0. I totally did everything from the bottom. No need to remove air box at all. Good light is essential. Remove 8 mm bolt from bottom . Partially remove sensor an inch or so. Then I used a thin flat blade long screwdriver and gently pushed the wire of the sensor. With that out of the way, I was able to pull the sensor out with no problem. Simple
You got lucky some of us have to remove more,, I remember my personal truck being that easy.I'm glad yours was that way, I wish my buddies truck is,, i also wish my buddies truck was that clean. I look like a skunk at this point😂
Thanks for taking the time to do this and put in the details that can easily be overlooked by experienced people that newbies doesn't know. Great video!!!
Nice Well Done Mr. Wade! tips: Wrap Electrical Tape Around the Universal Joint on the Socket. (makes it stay in a position yet still fully Flexible) Wad of sticky type like the Green Grease from Lu(@$ (helps make suction\stiction in the socket to the nut or bolt head great for installing them too) Hire Wade to do all your repairs(Very BEST option)
Changed out my CPS after watching this "how to". Great tips but I have 1 more to add to it. If your removing the CPS with the connector still attached, make sure you have enough slack in the wiring. I unfortunately didn't and the only way I could disconnect it was to put it back in and refasten it, as there's NO Way you can disconnect this with 1 hand and the CPS spinning freely. Other than that, great tips.
Thank you. Good info. FWIW I never take the air filter box apart. DieselTech Ron taught me to remove it as a complete assembly. It will clear the rad overflow hose completely assembled and then you don't have to mess with putting it back together. I agree its a bad design but once you stop taking it apart it gets easier.
You just got a like and subscribe,, iv done this from the top 3 times in the last 2 years, always had extensions and wobble joints, getting it out is fun bun getting the bolt back has always been hard. This is the best video demonstration iv seen... I am highly impressed. THANK YOU SIR!!!!
thanks for the video, got the repair done months ago after watching. Old sensor tested bad. But a short while later I started having trouble with stalling. I got sidetracked with other projects and family matters... but I was just thinking about it, and wondered if there are two cam position sensors??? this is a V8 yeah? so that mean it's a dual cam, right? I'm not sure if it could be configured any other way but anticipate it's like a mirror image... the trucks new to me so IDK... UPDATE: there are two!!! The one mentioned in the video and the other is located behind the AC compressor (you may have mentioned that already), .... hopefully that's what's wrong with my truck!!!
Hi, nice video, I have a stalling issue on my Amarillo & one solution that fit my symptoms was cleaning the rust buildup where the CPS seats to the block. Have you ever heard of this issue? I live in Ontario Canada where rust is the #1 leading cause of vehicular death (death to the vehicle that is) Thanks for any input!
Can a faulty camshaft position sensor cause the truck not to start because I had a mechanic just work on my truck. The truck ran perfect the day before. Go out next day to start it. It just cranks and cranks and cranks and won't start send it to the mechanic. He said it was camshaft position sensor get the truck back home. Drive it for a couple weeks now. It's doing the same thing again. Why would this be?
A camshaft position sensor failure can cause a no start, however you would need to check codes and monitor the rpm output with a scanner before you deem the CPS bad.
Could a bad sensor be the cause of stalling? I just test drove a 6.0 and it stalled 4 times during the drive. owner said this is what may be the cause.
Did this today. I'd like to add if you pull out the filter take out the battery so you dont fight the space. Its already disconnected so remove the holder and the positive and it will make life better. However I didn't find installation or removal from above any help. I'm 6 foot 5 and couldn't get to it above short of seeing frayed un covered wires at the connector so I decided to try and run it to the top but the connector hits the hard lines and the thermostat housing and can't be removed so I don't see the reason to remove the air box.

Thank you for the video. One question: could that sensor be the cause of a lot of white smoke? Thanks.
If the truck is coding for cam position rationality I personally haven’t seen it cause a fueling problem.
Great video! Very clearly shown and done. Thanks for the help :)
Glad it helped!
Thanks, will be changing on my 2006
Question, I have been told that the part from dealer is not up to standards -- or not available
In this video we are using a Alliant Power sensor, and we have had really good luck with them.

That's the crank sensor under the AC compressor be easy when u emoved the AC compressor that's way hard to get too.
Will a little bit of oil come out of it
There will be residual oil on the sensor but there wont be any oil that leaks from there on the 6.0’s
@ ok thanks
Pull the whole air filter assy out as one unit, much easier.
Will this cause a No start if bad❓
Yes

Hi I don't have any sync have rpm .. what be the causes ... thanks !
After changing CPS? Check wiring harness.
What's the difference between oem & Alliant for cps?
Tks Mike
Zero difference between the two.

Could a bad sensor be the cause of stalling? I just test drove a 6.0 and it stalled 4 times during the drive. owner said this is what may be the cause.
Would need to be diagnosed. Could be multiple things.
Do you have a video for a 6.7?
Working on it!
remove the radiator hose and degas bottle extra ten minutes but you can see everything clearly and professionally install
Mister why when my sensor is conected my motor is hard to star , and when the sensor is desconected engine is free and can crank easy
Does it start? If so, suspect harness.
Hi I have a 6.0 check engine light on my 6.0 would that be the problem?
Need to read the codes and see what you are up against.
Is there a relearn required after installing this part? Thanks
No relearn required.

I just replaced mine and now when I try and start my truck there’s a loud click sound and doesn’t crank. Any idea why?
Go back over install. If you unhooked battery cables check those or check battery level.
I got it fixed my starter just happened to go out when I replaced the cps
thank you for sharing... what a hell job ! should make the engineers who designed this change every one !
You are welcome!
Do this cam sensor give up or just need to clean it up with new o rings
Thanks for the video it was great!!

I replaced mine and still don’t start now has a new code of p2614 what to do now
Need to diagnose if its sensor or wiring harness at this point.
pull the filter out before removing the back half of the box. lots more room
I replaced the sensor and pigtail still getting p0341 code any other reason why I’m getting that code still?
Any luck??

@@jadbud24 the instrument cluster went out, I purchased one on eBay
How about a video showing how to replace the CPS pigtail... No one has a video
Diesel tech ron has video
It’s common sense
You're pulling the air filter box out wrong, you gotta pull the cab first on the 6.0s
😂
Much easier way to take out air intake. Take the whole assembly out
Well, I just changed mine out and now it’s not starting. Any tips?
Was it not starting before? Start with retrieving any codes in the truck. Research them and then use real time data to verify those conditions.
I have a scan gauge 2. It was reading it to be the cam shaft sensor. It would start before, but with a code. Put the new one in, no code but no start. So I put the old one back in and it started right up.
Plus, I have an sct x4 that was reading the same code
What was the symptoms you had to replace the CAM sensor?
This particular truck had no symptoms but was used as a “mule” for our install video based on tech calls we get for P2614 code.
