Thank God for Ron , I admit i shed a tear when my truck started what a teacher he was . He's still fixing are 6.0 's from Heaven. Thank you Ron and thanks to his family for Sharing him with us.
Thanks Ron! After my local FORD cronies kept my truck for three days and 127 bucks for "diagnostics", could not reproduce the problem, only reproduced 2 stalls without codes of course, they told me it might be the accelerator pedal position switch and wanted to charge me 700 bucks to it! Well, I went and bought the 240.00 pedal and replaced it myself. Then two weeks later, (tonight to be exact) it happened on the way to work and I remember watching this video, I unplugged the ICP sensor and fired up nicely. Plugged it back in while driving to work then replaced it before leaving work. Thx again! (2006 F-350 6.0L, chipped with EGR delete, after market exhaust, cold air induction)
I have a repair facility and bought a broken down 6.0 figuring I could fix it. This one kicked my butt because the vehicle would start up fine then go into "limp mode". No check engine lights. You nailed my problem and the IPS was new! Thank you. I can't wait to watch all your videos
Amazing, you truly are a gift from god it's like an ace in the back of your pocket to know this useful inside trick. I hope you're family's doing alright. RIP man.
Ron, 2005 6.0 wouldn't start and broke down in a tight spot. Unplugged my ICP sensor and fired right up. Thanks again for this video, you saved me big time
Man you are the man! Ron for president! Dude, I'm so glad that I ran into your videos on you tube. They're very helpful and educational as well. Love your work. You sound like a honest mechanic. Thank you so much for what you do. Take care sir.
i know im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
@Sullivan Castiel i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I used this today!!! Got me out of a tow bill, Thank you. Plus impressed the hell out of my coworker that i made it start by simply unplugging a sensor. I love RUclips.
thank you thank you!!! you are a 6.0 angel!! i will replace mine asap, i have had mine to many places, and they could no figure it out(surging, erratic idle, stalls, with no code) i am lucky my 04 has it on the valve cover!now maybe they will believe the little short woman, huh? i have spent too much money, and you have solved it!
Ron, I have a 04 6.0, which I had oil cooler and 3 injectors replaced, and after repair drove about 15 miles and engine started making a loud knocking sound and then shut off and won't crank back. checked oil level and there is no oil on the dip stick. repair was done at local ford dealer.
Okay so question if the truck’s PCM requires a 500psi signal to fire the injectors but you unplug the ICP how does the truck start if it can’t see 500+ psi?
Superb video. Very Sherlock Holmes! Thanks for the great vid. I have crank, no start issue right now and am thinking it may be this, or possibly the Glow Plug Relay, though I'm unsure if my 2004 has one. Continuing to learn - newbie diesel owner! Thanks again.
Here is a sneaky situation most people miss. When everything checks out great including the fuel pressure but the truck either does not want to start or has lots of power loss. Down on the HFCM (fuel pump), the fuel will blow past the low rung of the gasket from the once heater compartment to the water compartment. Just like the gasket at the fuel regulator, the one on the HFCM craps out too but, instead of leaking to the outside, it leaks between compartments. Replacing that gasket solves low power at take off, black smoke in large quantities, and no-starts when no other problem is present. This gasket will produce symptoms similar to a bad injector.
I have a 2005 International with a 6.0 in it. In the morning it might run for 5 seconds or 5 minutes & turns off. Does this till temperature reads 160 degrees. Then runs all day. On way way home in afternoons if you do over 50mph sometimes it shuts off & comes back on. Slow down to 45mph no problems. It is a small trash truck so lots of starts & stops so no issues during day. Any ideas ?
great video! if your not building pressure but your IPR is at 85% then you got a HPO leak.. just thought i'd add that in case someone has a no start that isn't like this one
I have a 2005 f250 6.0. Long story short I have compression gases escaping through the passenger head into the fuel filter bowl. I purchased an injector seal set and replaced all the rubber o rings and the copper compression seal ring. The fuel injector sealing surface was flawless along with the sealing surface on the head. The old copper washers looked old but no evidence of compression gases escaping. Still having small air bubbles emitting while cranking engine. I have a snap on Zeus and cylinder contribution was -24ish on all right bank cylinders at idle. Any ideas? HELP!
Hey Ron I have a issue with my 04 6.0 I'm sitting on the side of the road in rural Ky.I have oil pressure with filter out cranking with the starter wire, my fuel filter will fill up after I cycle the key and it will start but barely idle then runs out of fuel, it ran fine earlier any suggestions.
I also noticed, I have no oil pressure trying to start either. I know..., I had oil pressure when it was running and when it wouldn't start. I removed the oil filter yesterday and checked the oil, etc. I put it back in and noticed the no oil pressure on the guage starting? Also, discovered I have the Large Carquest oil filter in it (going to change that out today.
I’ve looked all in that area I can’t find the ipc sensor. It was build date may 2003 with a 6.0. I wanted to try this because I have this problem no codes starts and stalls out. Suddenly. Ran perfectly up to one morning headed to work. Where is the ipc if it’s not there where he showed us?
Hi Ron I have a 1996 Ford F-250 7.3 I have replaced the cam senior , battery's , glow plugs , glow plug relay, starter and starter relay and still no start, My truck just shut down on me when I was driving. After putting in all the parts I found the nut spacer off of the IPR valve and I want to know if the coil is moving back and forth would this cause it to not start and or go bad? Also the scan gauge at autozone will it work on a 1996 mold? Can you help? Thank you,
Help I have a 6.0 ford 350. Water light on then truck shuts off many times but no water in fuel and I changed the cam shaft sensor will that water n fuel sensor shut my truck off and when water light comes on truck will not go unless it's off . Any help will do thanks
Ron, we have been having a long crank start situation on our 2003 6.0 excursion for about a week. one day it started running rough then totally died out and would not restart.back at our shop I scan showed no codes.During KOEO the"actual control pressure"= 396psi and does not change when cranking. I unplugged the ICP sensor and it starts but reads same 396psi whether running or not.Dies out after about 30 seconds. While cranking" control pressure desired" reads 1490 PSI. What to do next
Hello Ron I been having a problem with my f250 04 6.0 I have replace the oil pump and IPR as well ICP is just wont start been doing everything you show on your videos but still not start what will you recommend
Hi Ron, I have the same problem with my truck, I replace it, Crank Position Sensor and, Camshaft Position and will not start, you think that is the ipc sensor?
Hey not a novice but this has me perplexed, any guidance would be awesome. History, 2006 ford f350 dually 4x4 160k 50% miles towing 14k toy hauler. have egr delete upgrade air intake and mbrp cat back exhaust, tuner is economy mode or tow mode never used the increased power setting. mostly got it for the egr engine light delete. so at about 60k egr stuck lost all power and opted for egr delete. 80k icp crapped the bed I replaced. no problems til 140k had the dreaded long cranks for the icp to build pressure and the tiny puff of blue smoke i replaced the dummy plugs and stand pipes, 150k had injector codes for 1 and 6 so i replaced all 8 including new nipple cup orings on the oil rail and I also pulled the hpop it was good so i installed the upgraded screw in fitting orings etc and replaced the screen on ipr even though is wasn't torn. Driving yday on interstate truck running fine oil temp 160 coolant 159 icp 2345 ipr 38% sync 1 ficm 49 (has never dropped below 48.5 and reaches 50.5 on occasion) no engine light no codes truck just dies total power loss then cuts off. waited checked oil and the usual crap problems didn't find anything, tried to restart and it tried to start blew a unusal color smoke smelled like straight diesel, had zero idle ability and died, then engine light came on and scan guage 2 gave me P0671 P0672 P0606 C3106 C3206. i know the p codes are glow plugs have yet to find the c (chassis) codes yet but if the glow plugs cut off after the oil reaches 130ish would the glow plug module or having 3 bad glow plugs cause my life line to humanity to just die. had it towed did resistance test on all glow plugs 5 were under .5 ohms, the other were 116, 474, 2356 so 3 bad. I've read several links but have yet to discover a precise way to test glow plug module? and the icp volts when i scanned it after doing the ohms on the glow plugs was .3v can't find a value to what it should be other than when running? i'm gonna check fuel filters maybe do the bubble test just need some guidance so i'm not like my dog in the yard trying to catch my freakin tail all week, thanks
Hello Ron, Need some help please. I just replaced the FICM a month ago and the truck ran great (2006 F-250SD-6.0, 69K). I drove from NC to Sterling, VA and the trip up was fine, other than an ABS light that came on (that went away later). On the way home to NC the same day, out of the blue the truck started bucking and stutting down, let off the gas and it would come back to idle. When I would get off the gas and give it more gas it would run rough, smoke and then clear itself out. This went on for about 40 miles and it got worse to the point the truck would stut off, like it was starving for fuel. It would start right back up and I'd go again. I pulled into a truck stop and let the truck idle then it started stumbling and shut off, never started again (no check engine light either). The symptoms were similar to the FICM problem (no start hot or cold, it will try to start at momentarily at times). I had it towed home, checked the new FICM voltage with a multi meter and it reads 48.8 volts key on and 48.8 starting. I un plugged the ICP, no start either. Any idea where to look other than test the ICP manifold port for air out the oil filler cap and the IPR?. I don't have any scan tools, my extended warranty expired in October and I'm out of work. Would you please give me your best guess? A buddy is bringing over a scan tool today to see if it has any codes? Thank's Bill
Need help bad just put HPOP ON 06 F250 AND #1 INJECTOR AND CHECKED ICP AND IPR ANS SYNC ARE GOOD BUT IM HAVING A SLOW CRANK AND SOUND LIKE NO COMPRESSION IS BUILDING HAS NEW FORD STARTER AND TWO BRAND NEW BATTERIES AND STILL A VERY WEAK CRANK
Hi great video just one question I have a 04 6.0 and my response when I got the gas from a stand still is very slow could that be it if not what could do that?
Thanks Ron for your videos, has given me much to learn. I've got a '05 F350 w/6.0L, it runs, then goes rough and eventually dies out. No codes and FICM test 48 V both off and on. Any further ideas? Anyone?
Steve O did you figure it out? We got a 200k miles 6.0 that will start, then dies after a bit but doesn’t have much power while it’s on. Then, after a while, maybe 30 minutes or more it’ll start and do the same thing. We’re thinking it could be the high pressure oil pump as it’s leaking from some weird places when we shoot air through it. It also wasn’t making the 500psi of oil pressure it should be making to start the truck after it died.
mine got me stumped. ipr is clean, 85% while cranking, disconnected icp and it runs and should keep running without it plugged, after 15-20 minutes it will get sluggish and stall. it will start again after a long crank then die in 15 seconds. i replaced the injector harness because it was chaffed. had a misfire in cylinder 5 and that fixed it. any suggestions?
look for the "powerstrokehelp" guy here on youtube. he posted a video on that exact thing. explains why it starts fine when its cold but runs poorly after its warmed up.
This happened to me no start towed home and when at shop it started. It did have icp low voltage code. The shop said if it did it again that I could up plug sensor to see if it starts but not to drive it that way even to get home? Can it be drove home that way?
Ron I have a 2004 ford f350 dully 6.0 powerstroke diesel It starts then it dies icp gets above 500 ipr key off 14.8 to cranking 84.7 or 77.6 syc 1 can you please help me out fmp stays 48.5
PLEASE HELP RUclips WORLD please help since rip ron is gone Have a 2006 f350 6.0 icp, ipr have been changed out fuel filters oil and filter ficm is 47.5- 48.5 normally stays 48 Hot or cold starting issue the issue is when cold outside and sits over night start truck starts fine for about 30 seconds to 1 min starts chugging then kills itself Keep trying to crank and crank and crank several times then it’ll finally fire up and run ?? Showed no codes till the icp and ipr were changed now it showed cam and crank both please help im stumped!!!! injectors no missfires or runs perfect when running
We tried this option as well and nothing happened it didnt turn on, please any other option i dont have that kind of money to have it towed to a mechanic shop again, any options please im willing to try.
Ron. I am having this problem on my 2010 6.4. I've been to the dealer 4 times with no codes. The problem I am having is it will not start, I will let it sit a day and it will start, is that normal?
Ron, Thanks for the great videos. I have a stumper. 04 F350 with #5 dead and #3 low. We just did head gaskets. Problem existed before heads. We replaced #5 & 3 injectors and no change. No codes. Misfires, blows smoke and low power. The ford service mgr says the cam could be bad but I can't find anyone with that issue. We are pulling the pass. valve cover today to check cam and cylinder pressure. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Good tip. really good tip. BTW where is Ron these days? Seem like all is videoas are 8years old or even older. We Ron to come back on and do some more youtube videos

I’m a little confused, so it’s a faulty icp sensor?
Stand up diagnostic performace. Thumbs up!!
Can you post a video with hi pressure oil pump off 04 6.0 and if you spin the pump pulley by hand what kind of pressure should it have on top side.
I have this problem before, thank you, love this video

Hi great video just one question I have a 04 6.0 and my response when I got the gas from a stand still is very slow could that be it if not what could do that?
Did you ever figure it out? I have the same problem on my 07
Thanks Ron for your videos, has given me much to learn.
Thank you for everything Ron! Rip
look for the "powerstrokehelp" guy here on youtube. he posted a video on that exact thing. explains why it starts fine when its cold but runs poorly after its warmed up.
