      @@builderonabike i was thinking, for me the only difference to your layout I'd have is the bed made of two removeable panels.
      I've seen someone do it, two aluminium panels with plywood fixed on top that just drop into side supports.
      If i build another van I'd have your layout maybe in a mwb Ducato but with the removable bed platform. I think its a shame to have a van and not be able to hawl furniture or the odd moto day out.
      Seeing as yours is very open is there any reason you didn't go for a lift out or folding bed?
      Thanks again

    • @builderonabike

      I did it in the last van and never actually moved them so thought it was pointless. Although if I wanted to remove the bed it would be 4 bolts as it’s made from inistrut

  • @charesign
    @charesign 4 года назад +1

    You've made a sound van. There's loads of clever stuff in it. Those hatches are the business. Cheers for sharing! How much of a drain on your batteries does your ebike take? We've just bought our van - just starting the conversion. I've got an old Giant E+0 and we've guessed at 4hrs at 170W/hr charging it to full from 25% - I know you got a 1500W inverter but if you only used it for the ebike charging, what size inverter would you get?

    • @builderonabike
      @builderonabike  4 года назад +1

      Chris Haresign I still wouldn’t be able to change my ebike fully with the 2 110 ah and a 1500 what inverter. Tbh that’s the only thing Iv put 240 in for. My calculations worked out I’d get about 75% charge before I’d need to start the engine. I do have a really good split charge so that’s not to much of a problem.

    • @charesign
      @charesign 4 года назад +1

      Got you. Did you go for the beefy 1500w for the compressor and power that the other 240v stuff needed - ie I’m trying to work out what size inverter. We reckon that the giant charger will be the biggest power draw in our van.

    • @builderonabike
      @builderonabike  4 года назад

      Chris Haresign no tye inverter is only to change the ebike. The compressor is 12v along with everything els. My charger is 600w so you will always need double that amount in an inverter

      @builderonabike  3 года назад +1

      I didn’t pay retail first off. And Please feel free to give break down
      Of what you think the cost would be. And then after that lets see your efforts maybe 🤷‍♂️ Just to buy the 2 sheets of lightweight laminated ply would of been £450. Then the edging, hinges and catches then the tooling such as router cutters and then add my time. Coupled with All of that no trades man ever will cut as nearly as a cnc. Trust me I worked it out. I could of made it no problem as I said but it just wasn’t worth it for what it was. But thanks for your comment. 👍

    • @TheTwistedStone
      @TheTwistedStone 3 года назад +1

      @@builderonabike The last time I got laminated plywood it had a charcoal effect finish and was no where near £225 a sheet and that was for a 2500x1250mm which is more than enough for a unit of that size.
      Just thought it was a shame you didn't build it yourself as you have made such a fantastic job on the rest of the van.

    • @builderonabike
      @builderonabike  3 года назад +1

      There is 2 different finishes one for the unit and one for the worktop. I would of had to buy 2 sheets. Or ye I would of done it no problem like the rest of the boxing in the van.
