      What is 500,000 km for the USA? If I make 140,000 miles per year... a costly van just for 2 years ? Turbocharger to be replaced at about 200,000 miles.... Now they want to double that cost. This is absolutely European version of the power plant.

    2.0 liter is plenty of power. The chassis can't tow over 5000k anyway. If you wanna tow, get a Ford High HO f350 or Ram 3500 diesel. Isuzu diesel has been 4 cylinders for s decades.

    Our Silverado with the 2.7L 4 Cylinder Gas can tow more than 9,000 Pounds. The 3.0 Diesel Inline Six can also pull more than 9,000 pounds. Our 2022 Colorado with the 2.8L Duramax Diesel was capable of towing 7,700 Pounds. And currently the Colorado (which is Motor Trend Truck of the Year) is only available with the 4 Cylinder 2.7 Gas from the Silverado and can also tow 7,700 Pounds. Fun fact: Semi Trucks are 6 cylinders and they tow 80,000 pounds. The Turbo is what makes the difference! This Mercedes should be more than capable of towing 5.000 pounds. Doing fine in my 2.0L 2023 Sprinter weighing 10k lbs at Mammoth Lakes (8kft elevation) right now. It’s happier at 55 than at 70 up a steep enough grade. But the 2020s were the same. Other than that the 2023 is an improvement in every way. AWD transmission is better than the fake 4x4. Sequential twin turbo doesn’t lag. Computer nannys (lane assist; tire size; etc) less intrusive. Time will tell but it’s a diesel and I think you will get more problems babying them than hammering them (ie DPF).

    • @modelmaker007
      @modelmaker007 Месяц назад

      From what I know about the engine is that the early ones had minor issues. All resolved best I understand. But the best part is they designed it to be able to go up in hp, for when the phase out of the v6 came. The heavy duty chassis with dual axle gets the higher hp motor possibly others two, it has been a few years since I looked at them. If I didn't get the deal on my 2014 right before covid, I would get the new HD chassis with the dual axle. As it is, I have the worst case, a passenger van not cargo, I added air bags and a heavy sway bar in the back and it tows like a dream. I have the high roof and the heavy sway bar helps a lot on the passenger van, they have a very soft suspension for comfort. The air bags are used to level everything especially if I have cargo in the back and the trailer. I have been through east coast mountains and it did well, down shifted good up the hills, I occasionally over rid to a lower gear if going too slow. But not heating issues ever, knock on wood. Will it tow or climb a hill like a strait 6 Cummins, no but then again, pick the right tool for the job. For me the great mileage when empty was important and reasonable towing capacity for my needs. Granted like anyone would, sometimes I wish I had more power, but then there are costs for that, it is give and take. I would love to hear from someone's experience with the HD newer model and if they like it. One thing I highly recommend on the 4 cylinder is not to go the full 15k interval for oil changes, the tiny turbos are sensitive to old oil as they run very hot. I go 10K miles pr less for oil changes. I know they changed intervals several times. To me oil is cheap insurance.

      While the new twin-turbo high-output diesel engines, like the one in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, offer advancements in horsepower and torque, there are some criticisms regarding the new 2.0-liter engine. Many reviews suggest that while the engine is feisty and comparable to the outgoing V-6 in terms of performance, it may not give the same level of confidence when the van is fully loaded or in demanding driving conditions. Additionally, concerns have been raised about the long-term reliability and durability of smaller engines in heavy-duty vehicles. It's important to consider these factors when comparing the new engine to the older, possibly more robust 6V diesel models. The improvements in transmission and steering are noted, but engine performance and reliability are crucial for the overall vehicle operation.
