    I remember wanting MK gold so bad because I wanted the closest experience to the arcade. The N64 and PS1 ports were severely downgraded from the arcade. It's arguable that the home ports for MK4 are more downgraded than the ports for MK1 for genesis & snes. The texture quality, resolution, & polygon count were massively reduced. The only thing they were able to somewhat retain from the arcade was the frame rate. This MK gold port is as close to the original Zeus arcade board that we got. The texture quality and shading engine were still better on the arcade. The Dreamcast did have a higher resolution image though which was nice.

      MK3 and 4 for PC are also great graphically. I don't remember if you can play it with a joystick or not, back then joystick for PC is hard to come by, so had to play on keyboard, even for versus mode with my brother.

      @@y0gafire Yeah, later in the N64 life, it has some impressive visuals that hold up today when you bump the resolution up. N64 biggest problem was the memory and fill rate. Nintendo should have went with 8 MBs from the start. Fix that texture cache issue and bump the clock rate up 30 MHZ on both the GPU and CPU. N64 also had that fast micro code only Factor 5 and Rare used to essentially double the triangle count. Nintendo didn't want that code out there, so like Sega they made some boneheaded software and hardware decisions.

      @@sushiboots I can only go by the video since did not play this version. From what I can see it's better than expected, especially considering the hardware (Zeus) it's ported from. From what I've seen MK4 looks and sounds pretty good on N64. I wouldn't expect a perfect port from hardware 2-3 times more powerful.

    Na versão de Dreamcast tem aquilo q já era esperado: mais personagens, melhorias nos gráficos (texturas) e as CGs q tem na ver. Psx e q faltaram no N64 devido a sua mídia (cartucho) limitado. Esse MK foi um game q tive no Dreamcast, mas joguei muito pouco na época por achar ele inferior em diversão a versão Trilogy dos consoles. Acho que o Dreamcast poderia ter recebido um game melhor acabado a nível de nova geração, n portes de games de geração passada q apenas acrescentavam melhores texturas e outras coisinhas q em nada ajudou o game.

      @georgezee5173 11 месяцев назад

      No es que no exprima totalmente las capacidades de Dreamcast, es que directamente es casi un juego de N64+Expansion Pak. La recreativa de MK4 salió en septiembre de 1997, mientras que MK Gold se publicó en septiembre de 1999. Dreamcast se lanzó en Japón a finales de 1998, por lo que los devkits estuvieron a disposición de las desarrolladoras de videjuegos desde al menos primeros de ese año. Para este port de Dreamcast uvieron tiempo de sobra para crear nuevos modelos para los personajes y escenarios con una clara mayor carga poligonal y mejores texturas. A pesar de que incluyeron nuevos personajes, el trabajo general fue bastante perezoso.

    "Gold" on the Dreamcast obviously boasts some improvements in terms of a bigger roster, sharper CD audio, etc. However, I do think that the N64 version actually looks a little better because all of the art and graphics feel like they were cut from a single artistic cloth. The Dreamcast game is an odd mix of higher-res character models and flattened N64 backgrounds, which basically makes it look better and worse at the same time in a way that's slightly off-putting. On both versions, this is fast-paced and seems to play well. Overall, though, if we're picking winners and losers, I'd give the N64 a slight edge for being such a good-looking game for the hardware it's running on. This is a GREAT-looking for the N64 and only good-looking for the Dreamcast.

    • @sushiboots
      @sushiboots Год назад +1

      The Dreamcast version is actually the version cut from a single artistic cloth. It's representative of the game's original vision and is much much closer to the original arcade hardware which came out long before the N64 version. I'll use stage 2 as an example, the ground design has been completely changed due to hardware limitation. The circular dragon logo now appears as an oval and is severely pixelated compared to the original version. The blue 3D faces are completely flattened to 2D due to the limited hardware, and they are discolored on top of that. They do not match the tone of the lighting that they are supposedly giving off. And the N64 version is completely lacking a ceiling compared to the original design.
      The GOLD version does more than boast sharper CD audio and bigger roster. It has a higher frame rate, much much higher polygon count on both the stages and character models, non-warping polygons, higher resolution textures, etc. It's literally better in every way.

    Big difference in graphics. They came out not too far removed from each other time wise but the hardware of the Dreamcast was much more advanced having come out more than two years after N64 was released, which was a big time gap in 90's gaming. Just compare MK1 from 1992 to MK2 from 1993 and even though it's the same hardware MK1 looks like crap in comparison.
    Looking at these versions and especially the fatalities it feels similar to watching Resident Evil 2 or 3 on the PSX in comparison to Resident Evil Code Veronica on the PS2 or Dreamcast. The difference is very big and Veronica only came out a year after RE3. N64 characters look much more blurry and undistinguished and Dreamcast characters and backgrounds look almost futuristic in comparison. In a very real sense the Dreamcast version still holds up today in the sense that the graphics may not be ridiculously detailed but there is no sloppiness or incompleteness about them; the graphics are sharp and clean and it's a matter of aesthetic preference whether you'd like more detail whereas N64 looks unfinished in comparison with low resolution that effectively obscures the characters' faces and leaves things to the imagination just like the earlier games from the trilogy relying on crude digitized images.

    1996 contra 1999. Não só tempo e espaço, mas sim gerações diferentes de hardware. Para categoria dos dois, estão ótimas as versões.
    Um enorme erro o N64 ser a cartucho. Jogos caros e limitados de espaço no melhor hardware daquela geração.
    Dreamcast foi tudo de certo e bem feito que a Sega já fez. Pagou pelos erros dos antecessores (principalmente do antecessor), mas é outro tópico.
    Pra finalizar, o jogo foi refeito para o Dreamcast com melhorias. Não foi somente um port qualquer. Isso ajudou a melhorar mais ainda.

      Ate a geraçao Mega Drive a Sega fez tudo certo, claro tirando os add on. A Sega dominava o mercado de games e só nao era maior que as concorrentes no Japão. Não acho que o Sega Saturn foi um erro em sim, pois era um puta video game, erro foi algumas tomadas de decisoes como marketing e mecher no seu hardware de ultima hora para rodar jogos 3D, que pra epoca achava desnecessario e gerou um custo. Mas os principais fatores foi que a Sony chutou o barraco e fez seu game a preço de custo so para ferra a Sega e a Nintendo que nao quiseram parceria com a mesma. Aproveitou o marketing e vipe que a propria nintendo fez no projeto para o snes CD e colocou o seu no mercado. E um outro fator muito importante, o Psone era desbloquevel desde sempre, o Saturn e isso pesava principalmente aqui, sendo que um Cd de saturn custava 80 e um pirata de psone custava 5 conto. Os games que debulhavam na epoca nao eram 3d, eram TKOF, X men, Marvel, que eram perfeitos no Saturn.Tenho certeza pelo menos aqui, que se os games de saturn custassem 5, 10 conto na barraquinha o psone nao teria alavancado, pois duvido que a galera iria trocar optar pelo Psone, sendo que o marketing da tectoy aqui era extramente forte.

    •  Год назад +1

      @@nogueiranogueira8703 Saturn foi sim um declínio. Começou primeiro nos Add-ons.
      Saturn era um video game 100 dólares mais caro que o concorrente.
      Seu 3D era muito fraco. Difícil de extrair seu potencial. Perdeu muitas franquias, como continuações de Tom Raider, Need For Speed e Resident Evil, entre outras...
      Não conseguia fazer transparência e seus video compactados eram granulados.
      Isso fez perder muito mercado.
      Quando teve que baixar o preço dos seus aparelhos, teve que subsidiar em grande parte.
      Mesmo seu 2D ser muito bom + o cartucho 4MB, possibilitava a melhor máquina daquela geração a rodar os jogos de luta.
      A Sega já em 1998, estava praticamente dizimada do mercado e teve que fazer uma medida drástica em antecipar a geração.
