Yes, the Prograde UHS-II is by far the best micro-sd card I’ve used in a while. I was fortunate enough to get a deal on the 256GB 2 Pack for $160.
Waypoints would make the Mavic 3 almost perfect and almost worth the cost we are paying for it. I could definitely overlook the price tag a little more with waypoints.

Waypoint's is a very good idea I think that it should be included with all the future drones.
The most missing feature for me is the tripod mode. No one is talking about but for me a dealbreaker and a reason to keep my mavic 2pro
I thought that the c on the RC controller was the tripod mode on the M3. Is that not the case?

@@arto1969 cinematic mode does act similar to tripod mode in that the drone slows way down and is less sensitive on the sticks. I did hear that you can adjust the sensitivity in C mode as well. For me tripod mode is a must have for my work… so if cinematic mode is much the same I will purchase the Mavic 3.

Waypoints would be great, but they are probably holding it for a enterprise release where they can repackage with that and maybe thermal and then charge 3x as much. 🤷🏼♂️
Waypoints would be cool. I'm most excited about the RC Pro being compatible with the A2S. It allowed my friend to finally sell me his smart controller lol. Can't wait to play with it this weekend!

Way Points (or Key Framing) isn't just a good idea. It should be standard in any drone these days. Its ridiculous that DJI doesn't have i interluded at all and its outright pathetic that they don't have it included with a deep feature-set in the Mavic 3. It was one of THE key features i was going to buy a drone for and i waited this long to get one. To finally jump in with the Mavic 3 and then afterwards find out that the feature they have had previously is now not in by default.
Customers shouldn't accept this kind of behavior.
Waypoints would be awesome on the Mavic 3.

I think the Go4 app needs bringing back, I also feel that waypoints is an excellent shout, and finally, I feel that these updates are good and all that, but we need a few new modes/settings/features that are a bit more pro specific, I mean most of these features are on almost every other DJI drone already so it doesnt feel like there is a huge amount of NEW stuff in flight, more pro settings in the quickshots, higher frame rates, more cinematic controls, just make a lot of the features more Pro, to differentiate from the other drones modes

Still no support for DJI Goggles, that’s the deal breaker for me.
Trying to get the word out to fellow aerial mappers that I heard directly from DJI rep on the M3 team that waypoint missions won’t be possible, their mobile SDK will not be released for it and GSPro won’t support it. This means zero chance of it being used for aerial mapping any time soon. Tried to explain to them the huge market share of professionals they will miss out on… deaf ears. We were planning to replace our whole fleet of P4Pros with these… returning ours now.

I was waiting on hearing about waypoints as well. Pre-planned flights are a big part of my business. I also use GSPro as well and a few other apps. Will the app developers be able to continue waypoint missions with the SDK? If not the M3 won’t be useful for my business needs.

Thank you, Ross, for this latest firmware testing. I agree with you, the Mavic 3 being way more expensive than the Mavic 2 Pro, does not make any sense lacking the Waypoints feature.

I absolutely love using the Dji headset with the mavic 2 pro. They made the improved antman looking goggles but no compatibility with the mavic 3.... like what?

That was the real deal breaker for me, I’ve owned every DJI drone from the Phantom to the M2P and FPV drone, been a true DJI Fanboy, but they lost me with this release.
This is the first DJI product I’ve passed and it wasn’t the price, let that sink in DJI.
I updated the night it came out but since the weather hasn't either cooperated or I've been fighting off this COVID.
As far as waypoints go, I cannot say that I miss them as I've never used them. But if I know DJI, and it is such a big wanted feature, they will find a way to get it into the fly app.

I agree with the way points, but it would be nice if they would make dolly zoom as one of the presets too. I’ve done it before with the controls but it would be nice if you could just focus on flying and the drone would do the dolly zoom . Just a thought 🤔

They should add waypoints for sure if they can. I would like to buy a drone one day soon for some business use and I was looking at the Skydio 2+ because of the waypoints feature, but i like all of the added per programmed shot scenes of the DJI's software. Great review as always
Absolutely waypoint is essential. I was extremely disappointed with a 5k drone to not have it! You shouldn’t have to void your DJI care by using 3rd party apps to get waypoint flight. Perhaps more “pro-consumers” would upgrade to the RCPRO if waypoint was available on it. Many including myself would continue the DJI brand loyalty. It’s standard with its competitors.
Waypoints is an absolute deal breaker for me, so still holding off buying the Mavic 3 and in no hurry to buy this drone and might have to look elsewhere if competitors beat them to it.
This to me was dji’s biggest mistake when launching this drone and then announcing straight away that they had no intention of adding waypoints. Especially on a drone with omnidirectional sensors?
So it seems only right to announce my intention not to upgrade to this newer drone yet!
Come on dji, up your game and listen to your consumers!
The rest of the drone is finally starting to take shape at last, but just lacking one major feature - waypoints!
Hey Russ, great video (as always). I'm on the fence about getting this or the M2EA (thanks to your great video on the M2EA). What would your thoughts be on investment in this vs the M2EA? It's kind of apples and oranges, in that the M2EA's big advantage is thermal, but as a new 107 pilot trying to build a business do you think it would be more beneficial to get the M3 to start building my portfolio or is the return on investment higher for the M2EA (since there isn't as much competition)? Hard question to answer, I know, since there are so many variables. I won't make my decision solely on your advice but I do respect your opinion.

When using quick shots and master shots, can you use 5k 24fps? Or can you use 4K 24fps ? Or only 30fps? How bout 4K 60 with master shots?
Waypoints is absolutely necessary for the Mavic 3. I currently have to keep and feed my Mavic 2 Pro to have waypoints. (My house is full of charging stations) That being said, the Mavic 3 is clearly superior to my Mavic 2 in every other way.
If it wasn't for the resolution boost, 2nd camera and longer flight times, the lack of waypoints feature would've been a deal breaker for me given the cost of the mavic 3, I was seriously considering the mavic 2 because waypoints is such an invaluable tool on my Inspire 1 pro it's hard to live without. So I guess I'll keep waiting (at least until dji releases the SDK so that Litchi can work that feature into their app)

How long is your Mavic 3 taking to acquire 12 satellites ? Some reports of delays of 4 - 5 minutes before the drone acquires the minimum number of satellites allowing take off . The opportunity to capture the scene you want to capture could be missed by this delay.

Completely agree!!! When I started watching the video I immediately said Waypoints!!! That’s a big miss that need to be added not only on the Mavic 3 but also on the Air2s!
Waypoints is a critical feature. I can't believe it's not included and rumored to never be included. If that's true, we need to wait for the API to be released so that we can use one of the 3rd party "Waypoint" apps. If history is an indicator, it could be a year before the API is available. Aaaaargh!
I'm wondering if bureaucrats somehow interfered with DJI and Skydio making their drones compatible with the VR headsets.
Love the balanced feedback on the MV3, and agree that waypoints are sorely missed! I sold my MV2 to ‘upgrade’ and it has them, plus my racing goggles work on the 2!
Coming from a background using drones for shark surveillance, I’d agree waypoints is a feature they definitely should work upon bringing to DJI Go and the Mavic 3. Advanced waypoint missions is an area that seems to be lacking across the board.
Dont mean to nitpick, so I'll just cover the bigger stuff - things like:
* ADS-B no longer works. At all.
* Camera controls lock up
* Straight Line RTH is buggy as hell. Many have had issues. Check Forums.
* Certain sequences close the App on RC Pro
and the latest bad news:
RC Pro does not, and will not support Quick Transfer. See page 31 of the new User Manual v1.4. IPV6 transfer won't be available on the "Professional" Controller.
Also who agree with me that some updates to Quickshots are in order. This is a replay of the exact same Quickshots, right down to the horrendous music clips as my Air 2 and Mini 2. Same Panoramas. Not that they are bad, but a bit dated. After all the waiting, some updates or additions would have been nice. Kind of anticlimactic. They aren't bad. Just old. Mini 2 does all this except Focus Track Suite and Asteroid. Air 2S added Mastershots. Mavic 3 added... nothing, except a very long wait. The camera , zoom and settings improvements are good 👍
I love being able to zoom while tracking, POI and more..A lot of it is great. But why such a long wait when the autonomous modes are not bringing anything significantly new?
Great video. Yes way points would be great. But my biggest annoyance is the lack of 4k 60fps in quickshots when it's in mastershots. I just don't get why it's limited to 4k 30fps or 1080p 30fps 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤦♂️ but apart from that and waypoints im very happy with the update 😊. Great channel btw 😀
Yes yes yes!!! Think about blending landscape changes over the seasons by repeating the same flight route! Please bring Waypoint to ALL drones
do a compare vid on drones, everyone has different needs for a drone. l only want a drone to follow me close 8 feet high on my bicycle like skydio but their ll model is to complex for what l want. l like beacon & loop camera and yt loaded by iphone or droid only!!! no laptop , no damn pc.
I'm curious if you use the 5.1K mode. I use it all the time on my Air2s, it allows for stabilization sometimes in post too which is rarely needed but it's nice to have more pixels, also for slight cropping. Does the Mavic 3 allow the quick shots modes using 5.1k? My A2s it does not so I've learned to fly orbits and other things really well manually.
Waypoints is way more useful than say smart shots in my opinion. But sadly DJI has confirmed they have no plans on adding waypoints in the future.

DJI says they can't do waypoints? I had a Snaptain 550 that did waypoints!!! COME ON, DJI!!! GET ON THE STICK!!!
I almost got one of these. Went to Best Buy and they couldn’t order at the time. Got to hind sight a while. $$$$ changed my mind. 😁👍👍✌️
Waypoints AND more. I own the Mavic 2 Pro and the Mavic 3. The 3 should have waypoints and everything the 2Pro has. And more! I paid $3200 for 3 and $2200 for 2Pro. Both with fly more combo.

The way things are going, waypoints will be available for the M3 in 2023. Buy a Mini 2 (the "pro" one :)) and you will have waypoints. Then you can use DJI Ground Station PRO and other apps.
Were users of the inexpensive prosumer M3 really looking forward to the Quick Shots toys?
Flight time, stability, obstacle avoidance, hyperlapses, panoramas, telephoto and others are great features (what less could you expect from an expensive upgrade?) but I feel a lot of gaps. I come from the Phantom 1 era which had a switch for course lock and home lock, also Atti mode (no GPS, free flight!!!). With the Phantom 3 and 4 Pro we had Follow Me (not the same as Focus Track) and Tripod mode. None of that exists anymore and they are very practical utilities in many cases. With the last update the Cinema mode has the same maximum speed as in Normal mode 14m/s (!)
Exp settings has changed the way to configure it. I'll see how to correct that.
Anyway, I don't understand DJI's philosophy, too many missing features to use this drone for work.

Waypoints is essential for anyone filming property, structures, or landscapes. It's something I use freqently on the Mavic 2 Pro and now on my Skydio 2 with Keyframe (which I find much better than DJI's Waypoints).
For me loss of waypoint capability has substantially crippled the DJI consumer line of drones for those who do any serious photography. After purchasing an Air 2S, and wrongly assuming it had waypoint capability, I felt foolish for not doing my homework. No waypoint capability within the Air 2S (and Mavic 3) was so crippling that I acquired a used Mavic 2 Zoom and a used Mavic 2 Pro…both of which support waypoint flying. I am also keeping my older phantoms in good shape since they also support waypoint flying. If the Mavic 3 supported waypoint flying (not virtual sticks) I would already own one.

I can't believe none of the bigger drone reviewers, are talking about the long wait time on acquiring satellites, the still BROKEN active track 4, which is complete crap still, or the Horizon problems. Also there are still loss of connection range problems, that simply should NOT still be happening. DJI, fix the the friggin' drone, before adding features!

I’m having a serious satellite problem and not happy they didn’t fix that with the new firmware. Most of the times it take over 5-10 minutes to find enough amount of satellite… I paid $2,999.00 for my combo package and also paid $1,270.00 for DJI pro smart controller and I believe me and all other users are deserves better quality satellite connectivity.
Absolutely the Fly app should have Waypoints AND Tripod Mode. I use Tripod mode all the time as well as Course Lock and Tap Fly on my Phantom 4 pro. Why give us this excellent new drone and cripple it with downgraded software???

Hey Russ, I know you follow (to some degree) the Original Dobo and wonder if you've experienced any of the problems he has with the Mavic 3: Slow satellite acquisition, Horizon tilt and intermittent disconnect. This is a drone I am seriously considering but am now hesitant.

I think some don't get it as the issue of way points is discussed. There shouldn't be a enterprise release of the Mavic 3 regarding waypoints.. This is a $2300 purchase. Without waypoints it's a very expensive camera on a drone that can do a few tricks. But is very limited with regard to other than cinematic applications. Rather than a Mavic 3, a Phantom 4 Pro or a Mavic 2 Pro is a better option and cheaper. You'd lose zoom and the larger sensor but you'd be able to make a living at a lower investment. By the way, neither the Phantom or M2 Pro are considered commercial drones yet they both have the waypoint feature. I also don't buy that this is a DJI Go v. DJI Fly issue. Right now the Hyperlapse feature in the Fly app utilizes waypoints. If DJI puts out another more expensive drone with waypoints I'll never purchase another highend DJI product. In fact Autel or whoever needs to step it up. Truth is if there were more stiff competition out there the waypoint feature would be there... Not a year later... now.

Russ.....Waypoints? Absolutely! This feature is a no-brainer for those of us filming construction jobs especially!!! I shot my first panorama on a real estate shoot today...it was awesome!
Great show. Yes I love waypoints. Running same mission between different seasons of the year etc. example out of my city of Perth, in summer (now) brown farmlands and some hills near Perth .. in winter someone up there (our master) paints .. the landscape with color. Green and yellow (canola crops). Litchi is great. Hope Mavic 3 realises the happy customer base if they allow waypoint ability for M3.
I'm still torn between the Air 2S and the Mavic 3, especially since the RC Pro now works with the Air2S. After time with both, would you still use your Air 2S?

Of course waypoints is a good idea to include. I've had selfbuilt drones for ages with waypoints, with and without DJI components aswell as DJI RTF models like the Phantom and earlier Mavic models that had that feature...I don't believe a feature like that should ever be removed...they should be versatile in use.
But since the enterprice series have them, I feel it's a move to separate the photo and cinema users from the enterprise users and that the choice to do so is more or less a permanent one...unfortunately.
Not sure where I saw it, but it was suggested in a video I watched, that the hole series should've been made modular from the getgo...and I agree. The prices are too steep for any single person or small business to ever have one enterprise edition with RTK, waypoints, searchlights, IR and thermal abilities and one to make great imagery...one should be able to purchase the preset that fits the best and then add features later on, like different camera-module, RTK, etc, aswell as having different software modes, where you choose between photo/cine style or photogrametry or other enterprise-like features...just a couple of thoughts...I would spend more money for sure, if that was the case...AND still feel like I got more for the investment.
But yeah...agree with you! Waypoints should be there, both in current form AND as a preplanning ability. One should also be able to import and export routes, so one can share them and or create paths in other software aswell.

Yes on Waypoints! Also, I am curious about wide Panorama. With the Air 2S the stretch in the final photo looks ridiculous. This did not happen with the P4P. How is the wide Panorama with Mavic three?
I heard they just released the SDK on the Air 2S so Litchi (i.e., waypoints) will work. I am hopeful the MP3 will have an SDK in the not too distant future.

I wish that all the QuickShots had a speed adjustment like with, I believe it is POI. I know it can be done in post, however if they are more for "beginners" then being able to adjust at time of shoot would be good. The dronie is too slow in my opinion, as are others, but being adjustable would allow everyone to shoot the way they wanted.
Waypoints would be good to have, but for a recreational user, not as important as for others.
I am still confused a bit by the coding format. It seems I remember that H.265 was equal but more compressed, but having watched several videos with the new update, they all had their setting at H.264. If you have a video which covers that, please post a link as I have seen it somewhere in the past.

I was considering purchasing this drone when it first came out but all the reviews were terrible but since these updates it seems to be the Drone to buy! I will agree with you that I think it needs waypoint's! I'll be keeping an eye on your channel for anymore M3 updates! Thank again!

I'm a new drone owner ,(mini 2) . How often / many flights do you check the screws on the props , I've never took them off or replaced one , Yet. So every take off , I'd listen for sound change , but do you physically check the screws with the screwdriver ?
Way? No Way! Old argument, same results. Just kidding, I bet they will add it, but combine it with some other money making add-on. Way points were great, and make a lot of sense. But they want dollars. Let's see if they charge for it, or for some strange reason just drop it.
Ever since the “big” update, even with the air sense on and all the settings being as the should be. I get no air maps! From what I heard a lot of m3 owners don’t either. Can you look into that please? Love your videos and I’m subscribing now. Drone On!
I mean they have waypoints for hyperlapse so why not just regular waypoints, com’on!
Way points is huge for me and why I'm still using my MP2 (with Litchi). I am able to run the same complex flight paths over and over, at different times of the day and different seasons during the year and create video transitions of the scenery that I could never do by hand .
For long term projects, waypoints are more than necessary (constructions site shots, seasonal shots, etc.) ! I want them back DJI (please) !

I’m not sure I would have even purchased the mavic 3 cine had I realized waypoints wouldn’t be added in the future. That’s my fault for not thoroughly checking though. It just seems insane they wouldn’t add that feature back to one of their higher end models.
Mavic 3 seems like the most premium drone to have right now but of course we are always looking for more. I’m really happy with the added features though. Thanks for sharing!
So I know it's been 2 months since this video and the Mavic 3 has had a few updates now. While looking through the settings under Hyperlapse there is a Waypoint option. Is this what he was talking about when saying they needed to add the feature? If so, DJI did the thing lol
A little bit off topic but about the Mavic 3. It is my understanding the internal storage is only for drone operations. Not used for videos. Then what is the terabyte advantage? I understand the other advantages of the Cin model. Understanding the two drones are the same. What is the need for a terabyte internal card? Assuming it is only used for the operation of the drone. I realize there obviously is a difference. Curious what it might be?
Yes, I really miss waypoints. The biggest benefit of that feature for me was it allowed me to decouple the shot path from the timing - especially of light. I could tweak the exact framing, composition, flight path, and speed, and then wait for a break in the clouds, or sun to set to the perfect dusk, and then capture the shot. Without waypoints I am far more reliant on luck when hoping to sync all of those elements of the perfect shot in real-time.
Talking about the lack of waypoints just shows what an asinine decision DJI made when they coupled the M3 with the fly app.
All of my DJI Apps are not working, while launching the App it closes and says it has a Bug. Does anyone know about this problem with DJI?
Thanks for the update. Yes I think waypoints would be great. Know you can get back to the exact same spot every time for me would be one step closer to prefect.
