Quick note: I fly my Air 2S above my boat all the time and using -0.3 or -0.7 EV comp will keep the white wash behind the boat and the boat itself better exposed in the sun and not blown out. 👍
I do that too at the beach with my Air 2S. I'd rather keep the highlight detail and just bring up any shadows and mids in post if needed. Blown-out sea foam and white wash looks amateurish and bothers me psychologically. 😄

I wanted to see if the drone would turn and fly backwards while still focusing on the object, but you kept avoiding that maneuver. Is there a specific reason? can it not do it? This is a shot I constantly try to do when flying my drone (still M2P) without too much success mostly. Can the M3 execute it with this spotlight mode?
Most if not all of these professional reviewer‘s are in the pocket of the company that makes the products they reviewing, or they’re trying to protect their company man reputation so that other companies will be interested in sending them free items for them to review to keep the cycle going and a Patreon check showing up. I purchased an M3C the first light software issues send it back received a new one two minutes into the flight software issues, I’m now waiting to see what DJI wants to do about it. I’d be more than happy for a refund, just seems strange that none of these ‘professional reviewer‘s have anything bad to say about the M3C all they have to say is how wonderful DJI is and how they’ll fix it they’ll fix it they’ll fix it. That has not been my experience. When I try to bring a little of the true experiences in a conversation I’m called a troll or a hater, spend the money the way you want to just know that it’s not all rainbows and sunshine behind this latest release.

Interesting thing happened, I updated to this version of the FLY app with my Air2s and I can no longer used spotlight mode while shooting in dlog color profile. It used to work! I hope they're not crippling older drones in favor of the M3.
I just tried the active track for a boat and I was having a lot of trouble keeping track of the boat, it kept tracking the waves behind the boat after a few seconds for many different boats, and it was very stressful how do I fix this and what am I doing wrong??? I was using spotlight also , Someone please help and thank you so much in advance!!

THnaks for this info. somtimes it seems like the M3 starts to circle around the spotlight-object the moment you re passing it. wthis would differ to the "old" spotlight mode of Phantom4Pro or former Mavic Models. Or am I wrong and the M3 is holding a straight line course while pointing to the object?

I know people love these features but they are the quickest way to crash your new expensive drone. I don't understand people (other than a RUclips reviewer) who would want to "test" obstacle avoidance. What part of avoidance do you not understand? When I see people posting tracking videos they are usually tracking themselves without an observer (not the case here, thankfully). That's why they always hit trees. These gimmicks are for open fields (or open water) and not for cruising down crowded river walks, etc.
Two years later, I am still referring back to your videos for refreshers as I have had most of the year away from flying due to a health issue. Now headed to a lake to get some fall colors from a pontoon boat, so want to be confident in a couple intelligent flight modes. I thought that the Omnidirectional navigation transmitters, also known as Very High Frequency (VHF) omnidirectional range (VOR) stations, were out of use due to GPS replacing it, but I just found that they are still in use, but their role is gradually being reduced. They may be restricted to drones, or their strong signal could mess with a drone's navigation.
Can you do something that explains in more detail how the new remote control stick adjustments work, say in relation to the Muni2. What those curves and the numbers mean and the effect when adjustments are made. Thanks.

I got a hint on screen something like "must be a person or a vehicle". What kind of vehicles a recognized? I was planing to track a model aircraft for example.
Great video and great tutorial. I was gifted the air2s, I haven’t opened it yet because I think I am going to exchange it for the mavic 3. This drone with its hardware should be good for the next 4 years. Good investment in my opinion.

I thought Active Track would be better in the boat scenario. Aren't you having to fly the drone to keep up with the boat in Spotlight ? Just asking (and learning).

Many times using Spotlight mode I don’t want the subject dead center. They should include the ability to drag the subject in Spotlight to off-center positions.
Question about your sponsor, I post on RUclips some, Facebook a bit, but mostly I upload my photos and videos to Google Photos, or others to share with family and friends. Their use table does not cover that, only social media type stuff. I assume that if that aircraft VOR Omnidirectional station were still in use, it would be a small restricted area as the VHF transmitter would probably interfere with drone operation.
I tried the Spotlight mode when following a schooner around Casco Bay with my Air 2s. I ended up with props in my videos and had to can a bunch of footage. Is this an improved version in the Mavic 3?
At 2:20 in your video you demonstrate how to draw a box around your subject. But how do I access the screen that shows Active Track, Spotlight, and POI?

You are missing the variable aperture functionality... but your solution also works.

30 mins is fine , uses more battery in Hover Mode. 40-45 mins is in optimum conditions to zero battery. Read the small print

Gimbal movements in spotlight are too jerky. Way too much up and down movement

RC signal with your RC Pro was in the yellow around 2500ft. Wonder what interference was from?
Is front and rear obstacle avoidance active in spotlight mode ?
What is the difference with POI & Spotlight as you can select a stationary or moving object in both & use the sticks for control?

In Spotlight you fly the drone and the tracking will keep the boat in the center. So you have speed control while the drone keeps the tracking.

What does the yellow box with the Sun icon indicate? I can't find any info in the manual.
That’s the exposure. If u click on screen the camera will auto adjust the exposure
