    The green flare is definitely playable in Nic Fit, start turn 2 with four lands in play and one in hand.

      I mean.... maybe. I love the idea.
      Nic Fit feels bad right now because the speed of the format is such that you sorta have to have the Veteran ramp to compete. It's an A + B combo. But you want 6-8 copies of A and B (think Show and Tell and Sneak Attack).
      But Nic Fit only has 4 A. There are lots of B. Cabal Therapy. Phyrexian Tower. Grist. Even something like Orcish Bowmasters (Bowmasters is insane in Nic Fit, more on this later). There are tons of good sac outlets, but there is no other A but Veteran Explorer.
      The worst is that your A + B combo doesn't win the game. It just ramps you (...and your opponent...).
      Does Green Flare change that? It is sort of a 0.5 A and 0.5 B. So... maybe. It is a strong sac outlet and a strong ramp card.
      But it does not work with Cabal Therapy. It does not work with Orcish Bowmasters. Part of what makes Bowmasters so strong in Nic Fit is that it lets you curve out to your 3+ drops when you can't Cabal, Veteran, Cabal. Plus, it is a bit of an 0.5 A and 0.5 B too, because it kills Veteran AND is a sac outlet for Cabal).
      I love Nic Fit. I think Green Flare will find a place. I don't think it solves the awkward A + B that Nic Fit has right now. It's still a deck that either has Veteran and Cabal or is incredibly slow

      @@derekcline950 I can only agree. The green flare seems nice but then what? What is nic fit ramping into that is game winning? Dunno actually.

    I know Harbinger of the Seas is much closer to Magus of the Moon than Blood Moon, but the nickname of Flood Moon is just too good.

    Regarding necrodominance, Phil is 100% correct, the "if" does not create a trigger. The reason why they likely did it this way rather than pay x draw x is that otherwise, although you take all actions in order, there is no point between when the value of X is defined and when it is checked.

    • @laurelkeeper
      @laurelkeeper 7 месяцев назад +2

      The reason they did it was so that it couldn't get blown out by Bowmasters, the rules can absolutely support it being a separate trigger if they needed it to. But it's not, and that's good for the card.

    • @CheeseWedge056
      @CheeseWedge056 7 месяцев назад +1

      @laurelkeeper I'm not referring to the difference between it and a second trigger. I'm talking about the templating of 'pay X life, if you do, draw X cards' vs 'pay x life then draw x cards'

      Necrodominance is templated like Fable, not Grist. If vs When.

    Another awesome thing about Nadu is that it doesn't need the target to come from something you do, so like Leovold you'll still get a 2 for 1 if the opponent answers with spot removal.

    • @embergeos
      @embergeos 7 месяцев назад

      I think it’s even a bit better than that. Most of the time, you’ll have some thing that can target Nadu already available, and even if it’s sorcery speed like equipping shuko, you’re gonna get one trigger off of that. So it ends up looking more like a 3 for 1 most of the time.

    I know it's just a small thing, but I really miss the fun reverb that would be done on Phil's voice when he says "supporter exclusive preshow!" at the beginning of the pod. Any chance you guys could bring it back, even just once? Phil always says it so excitedly but it just doesn't hit as hard without the fun distortion.

    Necropotence is legal in timeless and is completely fine there. So I'm not sure if would be busted in legacy

    • @lane9668
      @lane9668 7 месяцев назад +3

      Timeless has no fast mana other than dark ritual. Storm is basically not a deck there, combo barely exists outside of Omnitell. It's also a format where the most played nonland is Mana Drain at the moment, so you can guess why combo is in a pretty hostile environment.

    • @mountainwalk
      @mountainwalk 7 месяцев назад

      @@lane9668 It's worth noting to people that don't know but Drain isn't really that good vs Combo unlike REB/Fluster/FOW etc. Shows how poor those type of Combo decks are in the format.

    • @lane9668
      @lane9668 7 месяцев назад

      @@mountainwalk Drain is pretty good because it means the control decks have a ton of acceleration. Puts Lurrus on board and buries you in card advantage several turns earlier than if they didn't have drain.

    • @EionBlue
      @EionBlue 7 месяцев назад

      It's gonna be a staple in prowess and burn decks, plus there were plenty of decks that were more than happy to play along with the 2 mana max restriction when Lurrus was legal, so the decks that can take advantage of this already exist, people seem stuck on the fact that this isn't actually cascade and dismiss it as trash because it isn't, when that was never what people were excited about in the first place.
