Sewing with sweater knit fabric without stretching the fabric is possible. Note: Using stay tape is for areas that you don't want to stretch, like shoulders and zipper area.

I am sooooo/sew happy I have found you here on RUclips university! I have been binge watching your videos. You are by far the best educator around! I am a professional seamstress, retired, and love your techniques. Thank you for educating correctly. I have seen so many on here that are just plain sloppy and don’t explain or demonstrate correctly. It makes me furious that they are teaching so many new sewists that will follow their directions and get frustrated when their results are not what they expected and give up entirely on sewing, thinking they just can’t do it! In reality they can be successful with the correct instruction. You do a great job here, Thank you!

Thank you so much for your feedback. I LOVE teaching beginners and it really encourages me when I hear that they are appreciating the details. My videos tend to be longer than most because I try not to skip steps. I teach the way I learn. Give me all the details and explain why. So far my teaching style is helping a lot of people, so I will continue. 💕

You are so stylish 👸🏽!!! I am sewing a knit fabric dress at the moment, I am not using the weights but I hand tacked instead to keep fabric from moving around before pinning the pattern pieces onto the fabric. I am old school and a quality scissor user instead of the rotary cutter, it’s more user friendly for me. I have an industrial sewing machine so the sewing of the fabric actually works on a straight stitch without pulling or deforming the fabric. What I will take away from your advice is using a form of tape to stabilise the seams as I stitch along. As I have some home sewing experience and trained in theatre costume making I will do the hem by hand and use the overlocker to neaten the seams but have the seams pressed flat open, it means I will be able afterwards to adjust up or down the size of garment as my body changes. It’s the the costume making experience (garments get reused over and over again). Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of sewing with sweater knit fabrics as I have learnt something new from you today.

Also, I've found that some of the knits are more weighty than you might think, and their own weight often pulls them out of shape.

Thanks so much for this tutorial, I just found the cutest sweater knit and would hate to ruin it. Now I’m confident I can make it to last. Thanks for all you do. You are appreciated.

Thank you, I watched the other stretchy video first, and now I feel temporarily overwhelmed with all my newly gained knowledge. I've only had an overlocker for a little while, so much appreciate the extra info!
