Thank you for the variety of hemming choices. I covet a cover stitch machine but that is a distant dream at the moment, having seen your video I’m more hopeful I can achieve a nice looking knit hem.
Thanks, so helpful. I'd love a coverstitch but finances won't allow! The effect, especially with the reverse coverstitch, is so effective. A good video to refer to again and again.
Oh wow thanks for this excellent and informative video....I've been tearing my hair out over a narrow hem on a circle skirt made in DBP... the timing of this video couldn't be better. ♥ off to my happy place straight away to try your advice out !
Yes! For a flat felled seam, you'd sew the two pieces right sides together, then grade the seam allowance on one side, fold longer side of the seam allowance WST, then topstitch down! Collette HQ has a great tutorial on this on their blog :)
Hey love this video just caught it now in july 22 - excuse me remarking but i am a retired nurse and just want to make sure (with love and good intent) you have checked out your mole/birthmark? 💖💖
I love the video but I wish you had shown us how it turns out on the underside. Sometimes the stitch can look perfect on the top but disastrous at the bottom. So please consider flipping and showing the underbelly of what you've done.
You used a juki serger for the lettuce hem, I’m in the market for a new serger and am wondering if the brother is able to do that? Very hard to choose. Thank you
Many in our facebook group have tried this with success! If you get the Brother, I highly suggest joining the "Brother 1034 Serger tips" group, SO helpful!
First of all i am an experienced sewest with more than 50 years experience. I really liked the techniques you using. My only complaint was, you went too fast. For a beginners or some with a little more experience, it might have been hard to keep up. I liked your video otherwise.

Another one that I watched a few times...

Great suggestion, I'll remember this for future techniques!
Good info 👍
I love the little iron that you are using to iron the hem, what is the name? I would like to get one like it.
Thank you! It is the Cricut Mini :D

Thanks for watching!
@@EllieandMacPatternsLLC definitely learned a few things
What kind of juki serger do u have? Do u like it?
Great
Where can you buy that peek a boo elastic I tried looking it up and just get regular boring elastic nothing pretty lol
It's called picot elastic, or lingerie elastic, that may help you find some.
@@MonkeyxGabby10 thank you so much
What type of double sided tape did you use?
When doing a lettuce hem, how do you stop the thread from breaking? I had a bit of trouble with that last time I did a rolled lettuce hem.
Great question! Have you played with the tension? If the thread is breaking, the tension on your machine might be a bit too high.
@@EllieandMacPatternsLLC Good point. I will have to have a fiddle around. 😊
I used my twin needle and it seem as though I did a plain straight stitch, it didn’t stretch at all
Maybe try lengthening your stitch length to see if that gives it a bit more stretch?
Where do you get the mini iron?
You can get it on Amazon- amzn.to/4g4FsS7
Or I think Joann stores carry them.

You can alter speed of video in you tube / run it at .75 then it is easier to follow - does not distort speech
