    Hi my lovely Teacher from Koalaland. You may have been truly busy with your new schedule. Where's your paws?🐾🐾🐕🐕
    Your video came at the right moment. I was doing EVERYTHING WRONG on a stretch fabric, needle thread, no zig zag stitch 🥺. The stitches were popping, sewing was horrible so I bundled my project into a ball and stuffed it into a plastic bag, "bye". Watching your video made me open my brain wide. So much can be done with stretchy fabric by changing the needle, 😁🙃 "holy crumbs". Back to school to learn the basics of sewing with Jersey knit fabric. You are a blessing to me. I invested in a Serger yesterday. First I must learn HOW TO THREAD this labyrinth. Why 4 colors of spools??? Once I master the serger I must try it on Jersey knits. You gave me so much homework to do. Getting excited to try them all. Your finished work is SO NEAT, not a piece of thread hanging on your work. 👍👍👍👏👏 you took 10 minutes to show us your work, I'll take 10 days to show you mine🤣 you are calm and a STRESS FREE LADY. Love watching your videos. Your smile is gorgeous and you are truly a beautiful Lady.
    So glad you were together for awhile. Thanks for sharing and caring. Always thinking of you. Hugs. 😘🍾🍾🍾👍👍👍

      Thank you so much Sandy. I am settling in well now. I am hoping to get an office space from January because I have really struggled to film from my home - there isn't as much room. This may seem like an obvious beginner question, but when you insert the fusible knit interfacing, do you put it fusible side down (towards the front of your garment) or up (directly to the inside of the hem)? Do you fold the hem over then press/iron all 3 layers together or fuse first to one layer, then fold, then just sew? I'd love to see a video with the full process 😊

  • @Prizzlesticks
    @Prizzlesticks 2 года назад +1

    I got a double-sided hem tape (Dritz, 1/4"), but I found it wouldn't stick to my fabric. It was double-brushed, so very soft jersey knit, and I wonder if that's the issue? Is there a specific type of wash away hem tape that works best for knits? I saw some fusible options, but I don't want the tape to be permanently in there.

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  2 года назад +1

      Hi Pearl, I would actually recommend a fusible interfacing in the hem / jersey fabrics. It usually gives it some longevity, as well as helping the stitches to look better. Just use a lightweight stretch interfacing and it shouldn't cause you any issues. Does that help? Aneka

    I did the stablizer technique and sewed with twin needle but the hem still came still came out wobbly is it still fixable id hate to lose the dress

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  2 года назад

      Hi Rosa, you could either shorten the dress (cut in the hem you are not happy with) and hem a little shorter? Or you could unpick the sewing, but it might be easier and less work to shorten it. I would do a test to make sure you can get the hem not wobbly. It sounds like you might need a thicker interfacing to stabilise it a bit more? Feel free to send me a photo and I can take a look. Do you use maxi stretch serger thread? I’ve used it in the upper and lower serger guides and in the bobbin of my sewing machine for the couple of t shirts that I have made. What are your thoughts?

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  4 года назад

      Hi Debbie, I do have some Maxi-Lock stretch thread, however I usually reach for my Wooly Nylon over this (it has more stretch). I pretty much always use Wooly Nylon on very stretchy fabrics, or garments that need to stretch a lot to fit the body (tight fitting); as well as swimwear, lingerie etc. I probably should have mentioned thread in the tutorial, thank you for the question. I will try and add it into the series. Aneka x
