Ah, I wish we'd had youtube when I started sewing 20 years ago...I avoided jersey fabric for years (till I could afford a serger...) - now everyone just about everywhere can get all the information they need. I still marvel at it sometimes!

Serger = bucket-of-crazy...HAHA so true! and slow as molasses uphill. Love it! You are a seamstress after my own heart. Thank you for these tips. Most I learn "back in the olden days" when learning to sew as a kid from my mom [1961-ish], but with "modern" fibers, notions & time-saving shortcuts, sewing is much less painful/tedious than ever. But it is not cheap.

I've been sewing quilts for 20 years and now I'm trying knits again. Machines and fabrics have changed a lot and I was so frustrated with the lack of info on which stitch to use with knits on my new mid range machine. I spent hours, yes, hours online after my "manual" was mum on the topic. I'm so glad I found you! Best info! Thanks!

Excellent video! I had been shy about working with knits, though there was so much I wanted to do, and I didn't want to buy a surger. Thanks so much, for this, especially the breakdown of the different types of knits, the importance of planning for the garment stretch, and the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of sitiches. I am now very excited about tackling knits, and will probably use this video as a reference.

Wow, what I don't know about sewing could fill volumes! Thanks for this, I never would have thought to use Ball point needles AND I have a bunch of brand new needles of every sort and style that came in a huge cookie tin notions I picked up at a yard sale for next to nothing!
It really would have sucked if I did this project and then found out I should have changed my needle and to not use the straight stitch I was going to use with the presser foot tension right where it is! 😨😳😭😭😭😭😵
