    One great thing about used-clothes fabric-- it's road-tested- no surprises regarding washing/ shrinkage/ color bleeding!

    One name for this block is the "Crown of Thornes" . MANY years ago the older ladies at church made a quilt for the retiring Preacher& his wife each block had Christian /Biblical names😇

    I love this quilt soo much! Always looking for "fabric" .. I've discovered men's cotton shirts at the thrift store... Your block and method make it look so special! I love having your sewing room ON while I'm in mine! Thanks for the great tips!

    This is a good way to clear out the goodwill of shirts that just sit and sit. Maybe we can transfer this idea to other cotton fabrics at the thrift store. Pillowcases, sheets, tablecloths.

    Hello. I have cut out all of my squares and was wondering if you can comment on seem allowances. How far away from the center pencil line do you sew the two stitches when you sew the 3 inch squares together? Secondly is the standard seem allowance with quilting 1/4 inch when sewing pieces together?

    Hello! Very pretty block! I have been asked to make 2 Memory Quilts. I would like to use this block in the quilts! My friend's husband had passed away and she kept all of his shirts. I put a fusible interfacing on the back of the shirts. Will I still be able to do this block? Will the interfacing help or hinder making the block? On some of the different videos, the person said to use the interfacing to help stabilize the fabric as some of the shirts are pretty worn and soft to the touch. Thanks in advance!

    • @bethshibleyquilts
      @bethshibleyquilts  3 года назад +4

      Is there fabric that does NOT have fusible, like the sleeves? If so, I would only use the fusible in the center square of the block. There are a lot of seams that will get pretty bulky if there is fusible. I guess it also depends on how THICK the fusible is. Yes..if the fabric is thin that's a consideration. Make ONE block and see what you think. How nice of you to make the memory quilt! It will be treasured.

    Most men's shirts are 100% cotton and most women's shirts are blended fabric. So weird. Still, time to head to Goodwill and buy a bunch of crazy dress shirts!
