      I discovered your video just today and unfortunately that link no longer works. Do you have a current link for that pattern? I have a bunch of shirts from my late father, and would love to turn them into memory quilts for my sons, and my nieces and nephews. Thank you so much for explaining how to break down the dress shirt. There is a ton of fabric on each of these and I think I have enough to do six quilts.

    thank you for doing this tutorial. I lost my daughter in law 5 months ago, and her family wants me to make a memory quilt for them. I love the pattern, and the info you gave. I was worrying about what pattern to use, and how to go about it. This will help me a lot. I also just watched your friendship star quilt video. It is great too. Thanks so much for sharing your talent. I am pretty much a beginner, have only made two T-shirt quilts, and 3 I spy quilts for little great grandddaghters. My first try at a regular lap quilt was pretty much a disaster, but I finally figured it out and finally have the top done. I am going to try my luck at quilting it on my machine.

    I made my sister-in-law a throw from her father's shirts. At first, I was really intimidated. I did not want to ruin what was left of his shirts and none matched. 😕But I did it I had adjusted a few things, but it came out absolutely beautiful. I was very excited about the way it turned out. Pattern easy to follow.

    If you keep the collar and the button plackets you could add them to a blouse as a contrast feature.

      That's ok! Sometimes it takes a long time to update and you aren't sure if the comment went through. I haven't used the collars, cuffs, and yokes for any projects. I am sure some creative people have found some good uses for them, but I personally haven't used them. I find that collars and cuffs in particular are usually pretty worn and/or have stains too.

    I liked the grey best. I wonder what they would look like if you used both Grey and black sashing to created a window box affect. You know like T-shirt quilts you might of seen.

    How many shirts did you need to make the 4 quilts? I'm not making memory quilts. I want to make "masculine" quilts from thrift store shirts into 45" by 6o" wheelchair lap robes for my doctor's homebound and hospice patients. (My current stash is more for women and children. lol)

    Hi there! These quilts are beautiful! I love the sashing on them, it pulls all of the patterns together! Unfortunately, I couldn't find the pattern using your link. I am completely brand new with any kind of quilting, but my mother passed away, and I want to make one just like the ones you've made here! Would you be able to direct me to any other tutorials or patterns on how to make these exact ones?

      @Sew Be It Quilts As far as the actual quilting goes, I can't quite make out where you did the stitching, other than the main rows. Did you just outline the squares? I absolutely love this quilt and it seems fairly straightforward for a beginner like me. I'm just stumped as to the actual quilting on it?

      Hi again, I'm slowly working my way through this pattern, and I do keep referring back to this video, I can't thank you enough for showing this pattern...and it just occurred to me that you didn't do an outer border on yours, did you? It looks like just binding...or am I not reading this pattern correctly?

    • @charlesshorrock
      @charlesshorrock День назад

      I was thinking about trying to sew them together to make "crazy" fabric. Since the fabric would be quite a heavy weight, I thought i could make a bag or placemats from them.
      For cuffs specifically, you can separate from the sleeves and sew the sides up to make a small bag. Use the buttonhole end as the fold over flap, secured by the original button, or button the cuff and sew around the button hole and ends then sew one long side and put a zipper on the other long side, for more of a small pencil case idea.
      You could also piece a nice block an have that single layer mounted and framed instead of quilting it. I've done when making a memory quilt as a way for a family to have a few more keepsakes when they only had a small amount of clothing from their loved one.
      Hope this helps!
