I feel like ironically the hero ends up being the best healer of the game. They’re the only one that gets a party full heal. This allows the other 3 members to focus more on dps. With the war drum on the hero this allows them to also buff everyone’s dps. I think Omniheal alone puts them on S tier. They’re okayish at metal farming though its hard to compete with Martial artist critical strike skill 💀 I would even go so far as to call the Hero the real priest of the game 😂
This monster wrangler class is already broken because of monster pile-on's late game scaling, they decided to also give it the ability to act twice per run. Almost sounds ridiculous 😂
The first question any dev should ask themselves when giving a "can attack a second time" ability in the game to a class should be: "Okay, is this character already strong?"
I transferred my Monster Wrangler abilities to a martial artist, and with Monster Pile on and Wild Side he can do ~600 damage per turn. The balance of that is that he's an absolute MP guzzler, you can't keep it up forever
@@excadrillo99 you could always make your MW into a sage with genius or wit specifically so they can have a stupid amount of MP at their disposal for any dungeon !
Or play on Dracky/Can't DIE mode and replace the Hero and use 4x wild side pile ons instead but it still took me a minium ON dracky mode 10 to 14 turns DEPENDING on how many times it puts 1 party member TO sleep to cure it immediately.
I agree with this list. My monster wrangler started as a thief and has the ultimate utility while also being fast and hard hitting. Is definitely a great addition to the game in my opinion.
Merchant is a must character in the early game. Without it, you cannot buy the crazy expensive equipment to fight the boss before the piramid stage. Yet, when you hit the finding orbs, marchant became uselss since the good weapons are not to sell, but to find on the map.I evolved to another career like thief because the marchant is super slow and serve no point in earning money. However, i still need to keep the "service-call skill" to save game or inn to heal my team in dungeon.
With the information on the new damage formula and a quick note about the Falcon Blade (bought in Kol) That works with some abilities, but not all. (Works with Hero's elemental Slashes but not Gigaslash, Doesn't work with Sword Dance or Multifist but Does work with Persecutter) I have ~3 main points to discuss. First: Warrior is expensive in the early game, and late game outscaled by MA/Thief/Sage - With how nice Merchant/MW/Thief are as starting classes I Can't see Warrior as anything but a stepping stone to gain STR before Reclassing to something that can Equip the Falcon Blade. It feels a little bad the Iconic DQ Warrior is just outclassed as everything but a Meatshield Second: Overall I think that Separate tier lists for a Casual playthrough and one for Post Game pure optimization would be useful. Casually Priest is great because if you hold off on Reclassing until you learn Multiheal you'll have it available without having to wait for a Sage's slower exp gain in the mid-late game, But Optimally Priest/Mage might as well not exists because of Sage. Similarly Casually Thief is good enough early but kinda falls off, but then Thief gets a huge Spike in the post game because some of their Abilities double hit with the Falcon Blade which Pushes them over the top of Warrior/MA. Third: Love the DQ Content man, keep it up, good job, much love
Damn, I love comments like yours, im glad youre enjoying the content. I agree with pretty much everything you said. On a casual tierlist, the priest would be higher. The warrior being a good tank but outclassed by everything else is what makes him A tier and not S. I dont think he deserves lower since its the best and kind of the only tank class in the game. so it has its place. Especially coupled with skills learned from other classes. The thiefs low atk stat and MA's garanteed crits makes it hard for me to belive that its dps can be higher. But I would be glad to be proven wrong, i love to learn more niche stuff about this game. I'll try it out one day!
Mages have generally better stat growth for casters than Sages do. A thief>mage or sage>mage are both extemely effective late game characters. Meanwhile, priests are pretty mediocre and made entirely obsolete between the hero and sage.
I use thief as a transition between warrior to martial artist or marchant to monster wrangler. MA and marchant are super slow and need to up speed via thief which helps my team to find transures during finding orbs-quest. When they are hitting level 20, you just transition to your final desired vocations.
The Hero class get very broken the more spells and ablities it learns, now that I think back on it, maybe I should've put in S tier. But my reasoning was that this class doesn't have access to class changing and its stat growth are okay in everything, really good at nothing. But anyways, no one is here to know how good the hero is. Here are the timestamps: 0:00 - intro 0:34 - Hero 1:47 - Priest 3:05 - Warrior 4:28 - Mage 6:11 - Gadabout 6:56 - Monster Wrangler 8:29 - Merchant 9:41 - Thief 10:45 - Martial artist 11:56 - Sage 13:24 - Points of contention (probably) 13:52 - Outro
Monster wrangler to Thief to Martial artist or Warrior. High speed with wild side and multifist or sword dance. That with oomph is insane. Monster pile-on is great but the damage can't get higher with oomph.
True, thats one downside of pile-on, cant get boosted by oomph. Which is why I said that I belivd the martial artist has the highest dps in the game. I recommend to get both a monster pile-on and a wild side MA in your party anyways.
I will say that while the Mage is a bit down on the tier list, it hasn't felt bad for me to bring one to start. With Hero/Monster Wrangler/Priest/Mage, I have three characters who can do group attacks, and the Mage's Buff + Kabuff spells have been nice in adding protection against harder enemies. Since your characters fully heal both HP and MP on level up's, MP for the Mage has not been an issue for me. Were I to start over I would choose a different class than Mage, probably Thief for that insane and wonderful Agility. (A Thief becoming a Sage later to make a fast Sage is really cool, I've done it before.) I would say it's ultimately not a wrong choice to pick Mage, so don't worry about it if you do. Ironically, I might change my Monster Wrangler into a Sage and my Mage into a Monster Wrangler in order to have the most efficient transfer of class abilities. (FYI the opinion in my comment is based on playing Draconian; currently on the way to the desert with the Pyramid.)
My final party was going to be a Sage, Martial Artist, and a Warrior. I haven’t gotten far into the game yet so I’m asking if I should change the warrior for a Monster Wrangler?
I played the translated snes version on my analogue pocket, it was amazing, but I stopped when I reached the class changing palace (I paused and when I got back I didn't know where to go) so I welcome the objective marker since I have zero experience in the world. Anyway I picked merchant coz you recommended it and other perks like more XP and service call
So what should I go to from the following: thief and a priest. My other 2 char are hero and monster hunter (only 15-20 or so monsters so far). Everyone is around level 28. Did I wait too long? I'm struggling with a few boss fights like the troll.
Can the Priest still cast Healall on the final boss (of the main storyline) for considerable damage as in previous versions of the game? If so, the Priest might not be so bad for the final boss. Also, in this version the Wisdom stat seems to contribute to spell damage, so a Mage with the following three can do more AoE damage than nearly any other class: (1) the hat that allows them to echo the effect of their spell cast, (2) the skill from the Monster Wrangler that allows them to go act twice in one turn, and (3) the Gadabout skill that increases magical damage.
its not bad at all. But you just have better options for the end of the game. And yes, the new wisdom scaling is good, but that makes sage even more broken. There is no reason to bring a priest to the final boss other than you liking the class honestly. You can make your priest into warrior for a tankier healer or a faster healer with thief. Staying as a priest doesnt seen ideal to me. But yeah, it does have viability for sure, its just outclassed
@@acwanoexcept that mages have better wisdom growth than Sages along with much higher luck and agility. Priests are largely obsoleted by Sages but that's less the case for mage.
You have priest and mage backwards. Mage is one of the better classes for both early and late game while the hero makes early game priest superfluous and sage makes late game priest obsolete. Otherwise agree with the list.
So i main 3 gadabout cuz i like the challenge and I dont really see it as a worst class but a fun class instead. Love the list but i like chaos so i would put gadabout to S tier for a challenge run

You can make your sage a thief in the late game for a fast sage who already learned all the spells
@acwano Maybe I don't know. I kinda like having a sage. Good gear and stuff.
Merchant levels very quickly so just get it early. Service call is also clutch.

I wish but no that bug was pretty much removed from all the Remakes including the SNES DQ3 so no.
