The speed is irrelevant. They're calibrating and testing the rollover sensors to deploy the curtain airbags and pre-tensioners. They will deploy before the impact whether you're going 10 mph or 100 mph.
OMG I can't believe I'm saying this. My car's a Vauxhall, not a BMW, and even *IT* doesn't have "blinker fluid" as you called it. Do you know why? *THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TURN SIGNAL FLUID!!!!!* It's a scam that shitty mechanics use. It's a light. Why does it need fluid? Electricity yes, but fluid no. #WakeUp
xavi er Yup. The only reason BMW drivers (or other drivers) don't indicate is because they are either idiots or simply forgot. Hell, I've been known to not indicate at times.
randy norris They don't show the results of any tests, becuase they aren't good. BMW has NEVER given a damn about safety and to this day ONLY build their cars to pass the test. The only reason they have built this facility is because NCAP etc are starting to look at introducing rollover tests and they don't want such an amazing embarrassment at failing the test miserably again like when the US introduced the minimal offset and it became apparent that they still don't make the cars to be safe, or they would have passed like Mercedes and Volvo did. This test facility pales in comparison to the one Volvo started using 15 years ago, and pales in comparison to Volvos old facility. Some history about how BMW do not give a shit. The 1997 3 series airbags would deploy after hitting your head in the NCAP test, BMW fixed it for the 2003 model, no recall. Same car the BMW branded childseats came loose and hit the front seats. No recall. The passenger cell collapsed. No recall. Overall rating 1 star. 1995 Volvo S40. 4 Stars, no serious concerns. When all manufactures were moving to install Volvos curtain airbags, which protected against side impacts for both front and rear passengers of all heights and seating positions, as well as protecting in rollovers. BMW cut corners and when NCAP started testing for head protection they installed an 'inflatable tube' which protected only front seat passengers, not rear. And only if you were the same height and seating position of a test dummy, and didnt protect in rollovers. Whiplash protection has been standard in Mercedes and Volvo since 1998. BMW didn't fit it until it started being tested for it in the mid 2000s Fuck even the 2004 5 series only just scraped through with 4/5 stars AFTER they were allowed a retest because the first car tested only got 2 stars and they had to change the design to better pass the test. In comparison every Volvo and most Mercedes released after 2002 has been 5 star rated with no retest needed.
Kille78 BMW's are very safe vehicles either way. I have investigated several hundred vehicle collisions, and have seen minor to no injuries when dealing with collisions involving a BMW. Thanks for your comment...
Of course the same way TUV made a classification failure rate. Of course Old expensive rare cars have low failure rate. Popular cheap and old have high rate. Your example - low injuries when toyota honda nissan hyundai etc is more popular car than BMW. In Volvo crash people die too and horrible injuries. Thanks for TUV philosophy (or ADAC). Don't try study journalistic manipulation.
I'm so thankful to live in an era where companies like BMW advance themselves to be ahead of basic regulation when it comes to safety it forces all other manufacturers to follow suit which is good for all of us. Thank you BMW, Tesla, ect for your engineering it has saved my life and my wife's we wouldn't be alive if it weren't for these thoughtful people I'm so grateful forever.......❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I can confirm BMW saved my life. I was in an "rollover" in an X3. exactly the same happened. it didn't rollover on the roof and stay on the side and then landed on 4 flats. Thank you BMW.
lol I always think this too. we all regularly travel 70+ on freeways so why does the traffic safety board think it's okay to give a 5 star rating on a 30mph test......
+Jeffery Antioquia Well first off regardless of the strength of the vehicle, the g forces while wearing a shoulder belt could kill you. The shoulder belt isn't really meant for those speeds (and most people aren't going to take the time to buckle up in a 5 point harness). Second, it would make sense that you would it the brakes before you crash thus slowing you down a bit.
+Iamspiderboy well I agree but being as "proactive" with safety as nhtsa is. you would think 30mph testing wouldn't cut it.. and realistically I don't see you bleeding 40mph when you jam the brakes just before impact.(assuming you even react fast enough for it)
+Iamspiderboy well I agree but being as "proactive" with safety as nhtsa is. you would think 30mph testing wouldn't cut it.. and realistically I don't see you bleeding 40mph when you jam the brakes just before impact.(assuming you even react fast enough for it)
I like how they make it seem like BMW is the only one doing it and that its not required.... it basically is required because if they didn't test roof strength and make it strong the IIHS would be all over it making consumers aware of its poor roof strength then sales would go way down.
Doc The IIHS crushes the roofs of all passenger vehicles with x4 the vehicles weight to see how well it holds up. If it doesn’t, the automaker catches a lot of flack.
MrSupercar55 Nope, not even an M3. I have a bad habit of turning off the road to venture down new trails the moment I see one even if I'm in the wrong vehicle for it. Even my MX5 has hit some mild trails... Something in my brain must find out where every trail leads which is why I have to own vehicles that are cheap to repair/maintain.
We were driving in a BMW convertible from the 90s about four years ago when we swerved to miss a deer and hit a patch of ice, spun, tail end hit a tree, we flipped six times down a steep embankment(and all that grew and sat upon it). I ended up in the drivers side and the driver on my side because we weren't wearing seatbelts and our son was hanging upside down, strapped in tight to his car seat. Cell was dead, it was the middle of the night in the country. We ended up walking out of that crash and four or so miles back to where we came from, not given a choice and wanting to get our son out if the cold. I had a sprained back (and very, very cold feet from walking because I had taken my shoes off in the car and couldn't find them afterwards), he had two cracked ribs, and our son didn't have a scratch. We were shook up and high on adrenaline, though I'd say that was the worst of it and I feel very humbled that that was the actual worst of it. We were all very silent and in a daze, but alive. Not having a seatbelt on in this crazy instance saved our (the adults) lives because the roof caved in where are heads would have been . And it is also lucky it was winter because we almost always drive with the top down when it was warm. The cops told us they can't believe we walked out of the wreck in good condition. They said a wreck like that should have killed us. 90s BMWs are safe and reliable in my opinion! Thank you BMW. So many people are not as fortunate as we were that night.
You simply can't beat the Germans in terms of overall car excellence, and within that sector, BMW still rules....and the greatest BMW of all time is the 3-series. Think of how long it has been the gold standard of its class.

BMW whats going on?!!! All this technology and money, but did you all see the digital camera the guy was using? Looked like a early 2000 model from Wal Mart. 2MP camera ... WOW!
I wish I had all such facilities in my #MARUTI SUZUKI Swift 🚗 (Indian variants) or Alto 800😞😒. We are bored of riding cars made of cheap plastic and tin sheets(shits) 🚽
the problem is not bmw bmw is great i love bmw, but the problem is the clients bying it, the person rolling or crashing the car will most deffinetly not crash at the speeds they tested the cars it would be something like 250 kph + so i find this useless
James McLoad I swas side swipe the car that hit my back door on my passenger side was going 90mph my car flip 3 times It fractured my skull temple I'm deff my left ear my neck I had blood in my brain 4 broken Ribs and collaps lung I was hospitalized for 22 days I had my seatbelt. I'm alive by a miracle I was found inconsious in the depot it said that I woke up and walk out of the car and sat on a wall . I don't know how I did that.
The BMW's that were produced before 2009 are alot more reliable and safe than the new ones. I hear a lot of people complaining for the reliability and accident that many people have lost their lives. No, I am not an Mercedes or Audi fan, I am actyally a fan of BMW but only those that were produced a decade ago the new ones are shit simple as that.
apart from Hummer I think der is no car can stay strong wen accident occurres , wt ever dey build strong steel it doesn't work out after 120 kilometers , dat too if we hit d divider means 100 kms is Enough to smash ....
So if someone lightly dings your door or you get in a minor fender bender and all your airbag last deploy?? Call me John Cadogin, but that sounds like expensive BMW Bullshit to me
That’s bullshit they knew exactly which degree and speed the car would roll, they’re engineers there are equations for everything. They just want to make the car appeal more to people
These are the kids that used to play with little toy cars and make them crash all the time like the onion video with the kid who wrote the fast five movie. 😂
Most rollovers don't happen at 10 miles an hour you know...
its seems only car manufacturers who dont know this

Automatic turn signals would be a great feature in BMW's... Not for the drive of the BMW but for other drivers on the same road as a BMW
i love BMW
When I crash I crash in style, showing my middle finger and 3rd leg to everybody!
Dear BMW,
I will perform your testing for you. Just give me the vehicles and don't ask for them back, and I'll let ya know if they pass.
If the car is so safe, then put the CEO in there instead of the dummy.
apart from Hummer I think der is no car can stay strong wen accident occurres , wt ever dey build strong steel it doesn't work out after 120 kilometers , dat too if we hit d divider means 100 kms is Enough to smash ....
Too bad the X6 BMW is a monument of unreliability. Just like pretty much all BMWs for over 20 years now.
So if someone lightly dings your door or you get in a minor fender bender and all your airbag last deploy?? Call me John Cadogin, but that sounds like expensive BMW Bullshit to me
An expensive test result captured using a toy camera? Seriously dude...
This is like 8 years old
That’s bullshit they knew exactly which degree and speed the car would roll, they’re engineers there are equations for everything. They just want to make the car appeal more to people
I thought that was lightning in the thumbnail
builds a new high tech facility and crashes expensive cars every day. takes photos with a $200 camera to analyze with later 😂
Ghosto you said this BMW is safe your luxury car is BMW 3 series but IT scores Marginal to bad IT don't get good even passat can be better
These guys just like to crash stuff they aren't kidding anybody. Where can I apply for a job there? Lol
Look at XC 90 II Volvo
You seen the tesla rollover test right?
So.. when other cars roll over do they also always land on sand? And is it always at 10mph?
These are the kids that used to play with little toy cars and make them crash all the time like the onion video with the kid who wrote the fast five movie. 😂
My sister hit a telephone pole and her BMW rolled over and she survived, still needed surgery on her arm but she survived, her tire blew out.
used new technology in their cars but using a fucked up camera to take pictures! simply WOW
But wtf. You cant come into a sand pit from the side like that in reality, and just roll over. Scripted to act better
There's such little rear headroom the dummy head hit the roff, not the airbag
Ok, and what if new vehicle failed to pass safety test? It will be redesigned from scratch?
Not a single image (I lasted till 2:02) of the car crashing or after the crash? Just the setups? Something to hide?
All the test are not worth it. They should increase the speed to atleast 80 kmph including ncap..
You guys need to fuck off with rollovers test sell turn signals trust me it will save lives
(Oh video starts 3:08)
The guy worth the funny voice sounds like the f1 driver from talladega knights
Thank god they're doing this to butt ugly X6's, dont you dare hurt some 3 series coupes
