Ale grew up playing short scale Fender Mustang basses. The photos/vids from the QOTMS recording sessions were the first time we saw her playing a full scale bass. She took to it rather well, I think. The two Spector Euro4LX basses she plays were given to her by Warning Army member Thomas Illgen.

Nothing about that juicy, clean, and catchy solo? That's OK. Thank you for reacting to this one. I'm glad you're enjoying the ride.
I do want to take this opportunity to remind/inform everyone these ladies were 18, 16, and 13 when they composed, recorded, and performed this music. THEY did those things, all of them.
Just felt like a little reiteration. Cheers!

We are all looking forward to them producing more music. I thought you would enjoy Dany’s guitar work on this song. Some fun, behind the scenes stuff.....the screams you hear, are actually Dany. While recording the album, the band wanted some ambient sounds, so they shut the lights off in the studio, and Dany channeled her inner slasher victim. According to to Pau, it was very surreal, and a bit disturbing. The process turned out a very cool effect, for this song though.
One of the things I very much enjoy, is the fluidity of genre, that the girls are able to achieve. I also find it difficult to explain just exactly where their music slots in, via genres. Some listeners really have a difficult time, because of that. It is quite comforting to have music, that firmly fits into a category. The familiar is very reassuring. I am fascinated by this album, because it manages to be both familiar, and comfortable, while not being formulaic, or fitting into an easily recognizable genre. By that I mean, its obviously rock, but its not quite so obvious, to what alter you should be praying at, while listening. I see a great amount of courage, and self confidence in how the trio has approached this album. I admit that me being an over the top fan, jades my take.
Glad you are liking it, and soldiering on! Thank you for the time you are putting into this. Rock on! 🤘🏻

Well said Roy, totally agree with you about how they are so hard to define or categorize yet their collection of tunes (on both full albums) just feels comfortable and easy to enjoy no matter what genre of music you prefer. Obviously I prefer the harder and edgier stuff, but then I find myself enjoying Chapter 2 and much of XXICB just the same. But QOTMS has it all, and bestows upon us a full range of not only influence and genre, but also their musical exploits, showing they were not afraid to experiment more and push the boundaries of what they were comfortable with. It's quite the testament to their raw talent as musicians and mature beyond their years songwriters.

"what alter you should be praying at"
I love that concept. And I quite enjoy this new mesmerizing alter The Warning has created. It's a mish-mash of what we probably already love, with hints of their own fragrance. Instead of praying 3 hail Marys with a cross, we do so with three musicians and the songs are the cross. Blasphemous, yes? But I've never been too taken with religion, thus I like this idea.
Hopefully no one is offended, but if you are, you shouldn't be; if a conviction can be offended just by the wild imagination of a human being, you clearly aren't paying attention. I feel I must put this caveat/warning within my heathenistic statement. :)

As for the next album, they have said it will be very different to this one. As far as I remember, they already have heading on 50 other songs in the pipeline, not necessarily finished but still ! Pau just never stops! Her Dad has said he thinks she is possessed.

  • @robsorenson68
    @robsorenson68 5 лет назад +14

Thanks for the review. You make an interesting point re: the songwriting constraints associated with this kind of album. It makes their achievement all the more impressive. Pau came up with the initial premise, but all three developed the narrative together, THEN wrote songs to fit said narrative. That’s what separates this band. The world has a lot of talented young teenage players, but how many of them can write good songs? Let’s say there are a few; now ask them to write a coherent concept album. Who else could pull that off?! IMO, no one but The Warning. That’s why those of us in the Army are so crazy about them.
On another note, I appreciated your recognition of Ale on bass guitar. She almost never gets mentioned or even noticed because Dany and Pau have more up front roles, but Ale does a lot more on the bottom end than people realize.

I agree & second you. Ms. Alejandra provides excellent bass lines. And not only in this song. In my opinion, her role in the soudscape of the live performances is also pretty big, because being a trio band.
Somebody else mentioned greatly, that she plays "lead bass" (sorry that I don't remember who said it first).

They have a show to put 10.000 people in a good Arena!!! People just need to know TW and forget the bad bad pop songs that are around the world today.
What a Rock Power Trio !!!
And you are right about the "chorus versus...." there is an interesting way of construction.

  • @jbartyparty7398

This song for me, is THE queen-essential song from QOTMS. And you can tell it's Dany's favorite as well because her singing, while good throughout, goes to a different place with more dramatic voice inflections and little embellishments throughout. It just seems like she is fully unleashed in this one. Although I do think her performance got better and better as they went along and the anticipation towards the final chapter's unveiling built to a crescendo -- the crowd seemed to sense it as well.
I saw you nodding in approval several times and it looks like you really enjoyed this one but I was expecting a bit more in terms of enthusiastic analysis...that riff man!! And don't you love how Ale keeps the intricate bass line going underneath Dany's delicious solo? Which is just so melodic and totally in the pocket. IOW, it's not gratuitous and it really seems to fit the rhythm and feel of the song, true to the song as ever.
I really hope you knocked out the rest of these songs quickly so you can get on to downloading the album and listening to it several times through in succession with your headphones. I'd love to get more of your analysis/thoughts/feedback without holding back as I feel like you're almost afraid to incite the impassioned masses in the comments section. :-) But we aren't as scary as you think; we always respect well-reasoned or thoughtful, cogent analysis as much of just that would ensue every time the ladies released a new song or chapter through Kickstarter. Patreon discussion was quite lively and interesting indeed!!
But overall, good reaction and we as always appreciate the time you're giving to this. Especially when life doesn't slow down for anyone. Glad to see you were off having some fun with the wedding and enjoying family as I was fearing that you might have come down with the flu or something...no one needs that crap this time of year. I can tell you that cuz I had three weeks of late spring just wiped out with sickness.

I love your reactions to The Warning.
Just 1 minor thought (which also applies to some other reactors):
I don't know how easy it would be for you to do, or even if you could. But, it seems like it would be more viewer friendly--especially for viewers who have never seen whatever group or song you are reacting to--- if you put the video in the large window and yourself in the small window until the video is over. Then just swap the picture in picture after the video. Because, for people watching on a phone, the little video in the corner isn't much bigger than a postage stamp. So, right now while the video is playing 80% of the screen is just basically video of you looking at a screen nodding your head occasionally. While most of the detail of the music video is too small to make out.
But, I do love your analysis and that you're willing to do the entire album song by song.

I was looking forward to your thoughts on this one, especially back a video or two ago when you mentioned the lack of good riffs. I was glad you noticed the bass in this one. Ale is really laying it down underneath. I think they did a great job throughout the album conveying the emotions and mind of the main character both musically and vocally. As you said, at this point, she is becoming quite unhinged.

Paul, again spot on. Correct with the concept album and song continuation. For me perfect to listen to an album again knowing it’s a story. Old school like Genesis, Pink Floyd, Queensrÿche just to mention a few have released albums where you feel obliged to listen to the entire album in order.
This song slightly darker tone, the chorus Korosu, korosu, koro, korosu, korosu, koro is japanese and quite explanatory :-). You’ll be surprised by the three last songs. Most probably you’ve already listened to them... eagerly awaiting your final three reactions (like I’ve been awaiting this one)

I know what you mean about the distinction between verses and choruses; the structure feels very dynamic and the choruses are very subtle/understated compared to other choruses, as in they don't really feel like choruses. The only real moment of release in the entire song is the guitar solo; the rest is really suspense-oriented.

These girls especially Daniela have matured musically so much in just 6 years. This isn't to slag on her on bit but I feel she is the one who has had to work a little bit harder than her sisters, maybe because she was older when she wise. She was 8 when she decided to learn guitar while Pau and Ale were 6 when they started learning their instruments. Keep in mind she also plays piano and saxophone and sings. Check out their stuff on their earlier albums Escape the Mind and XXI Century Blood. To put her ability in perspective, that means in the basement video of Muse' Hysteria, May 2013, she is playing one of Rock's most insistent bass lines having been learning the bass for a max of 18 months. Simply, that's incredible. No surprise that Pablo, her teacher, has said that she really doesn't understand just how good she is.
