This song is very old, as is one other from this Teatro show, called When I'm Alone. The songs became fan favourites because they were part of the band's legendary 2017 Tedx performance when they were 12, 15, and 17. They performed three songs, and gave little speeches in between. It's definitely worth a watch as it gained them a huge following early on. Pau is a monster in that show.

hi, yes. Paulina really sings live. You should see some of the videos where she is smaller and the breathing issue is more noticeable. But she has been singing and playing the drums practically since she started playing, since she was 6 years old. In addition, she has said more than once that to achieve that air control she usually sings while going out for a run.
From this show in particular you can see 23 or Dust to Dust, where you can tell that he is singing live. I asked to see them in the recital they gave last October in Vuenos Aires, and, my God, it's amazing. The musical level of these sisters is unique.

Three sisters from Monterrey, MX. They started in 2012. They became The Warning in 2013. Today they are Dany, guitarrist 23, Pau, drummer 21, and Ale, bassist 18.
In 2022 they did over 100 gigs in North and South America along with Foo fighters, Halestorm, the Pretty Reckless, Three Days Grace, and Guns ‘n Roses. Earlier this year they did four shows with Muse in Mexico and finished 18 shows on the first US leg of their world tour. They then did concerts throughout Europe including opening for Muse five times in the UK and France. Many of these had 30-60 thousand fans in attendance. They recently completed the second leg of their US tour, played at the MTV VMAs, and opened for Guns N’ Roses. They just finished a spectacular tour of South America and are touring Mexico for the rest of 2023. In February of 2024 they will play Shiprock, a rock cruise; in March 2024 they will play at the P’al Norte Festival in Tecate; and in August 2024 they will play the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany.
All three are classically trained pianists and Dany & Ale have played sax in the past. All three sing lead and background vocals; but Dany is the principal singer. They were inspired by the video game Rock Band and two of their songs are available on Rock Band IV. They appeared on the Ellen Show in 2015.
They are fully bilingual as they attended a bilingual Catholic school in Monterrey, Liceo de Monterrey. But later they all graduated high school through home schooling due to their touring schedule. They attended Berklee College of Music Summer Program in Boston in 2015.
They started as a cover band. Their cover of Enter Sandman launched their career. They now have 49 original songs in an EP, three albums, two singles, and two unreleased but performed songs. No bad songs. Their newest released single, More, came out May 12th. Two new unreleased songs were debuted at their Guadalajara concert. They have a rich collection of live videos, music videos and lyric videos on their channel. There are also vlogs and individual performances. Any video from the August 2022 concert at the Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City is gold!
When not performing they are humble down to earth individuals. Dany is a goofball and sweetheart, Pau talks with passion like a machine gun, and Ale is an introvert and a perfectionist.
When you fall down The Warning rabbit hole, you can’t go back!!

I've been following this band on and off for a bit now, and I can tell you that it took them like a tour-and-a-half to figure out how to get Pau's mic to work consistently while she drums. It's actually kind of fun, there's full videos of their first US tour on RUclips, and you can watch them work the bugs out of their live show in real time. Their earlier shows were plagued with technical glitches (like Pau's mic never working right, IEMs cutting out, etc.). By the end of the tour, they had it all figured out and were like seasoned vets out there. Which is actually one of the reasons Muse invited them on the Euro tour, the whole The Warning team is very professional and really has it's shit together, and they don't need their hands held through every little thing like some opening acts often do.
I think the trick to making a trio sound good live is all in the tone, which is something TW nailed early on. Which is particularly impressive with Ale, so many rock bassists just dump on the compression until it sounds consistent. Ale is actually just really damned good at bass. So you've got her full dynamic range and natural tone, not just a dull thump behind the guitar.

  • @robertkrawitz8237
    @robertkrawitz8237 Год назад +31

Pretty good random pick, my favorite song. Although you really could pick anything at random from their catalog and you'd have an excellent song. I think you need to give your girlfriend a more powerful amplifier and upgrade the speakers in her car.
They use backing tracks, judiciously. They had an extensive discussion of this with Ryan Roxie. Their philosophy is basically that the song should stand on its own -- if the track fails (as it has), the song should still be the song. The piano here is a track. Originally the song opened on keyboard, with Ale playing it, but they haven't been taking keys on tour, so they reworked the opening for guitar and bass. However, the piano beyond the intro has always been a track, of necessity.
Pau really does sing live. Dany forgot the lyrics to Ugh this spring when they played it on occasion, and Pau immediately jumped in. She has also sung other Dany songs on occasion to give her a break. You can hear her breathe a bit immediately after the breakdown in Dust to Dust. Furthermore, Pau did the recitation in their version of Enter Sandman in the studio, but she found that she couldn't do it while drumming -- it's not fast or heavy at that point, but the spoken line was too out of sync with the drum pattern, so Dany took that over. The only backing track vocals I know of that they use are are the breakdown of Dust to Dust (which is a male voice, their manager Rudy Joffroy) and during Enter Sandman (which was originally done jointly with Alessia Cara; they've kept some of her backing vocals in as tracks out of respect for her). Their vocals are their big performance strength; they have two full-fledged lead singers, and while Ale does not like singing lead, she will do so if Dany needs a rest. She also has a backing lead vocal line in one of their new songs, Hell You Call A Dream (aka HYCAD) in a passage that is more appropriate for her voice than for Pau's.
Pau sometimes does stop singing like she did in the opening here, simply because she enjoys hearing the crowd singing back to her. You probably noticed that she removed her left in ear monitor so she could better hear. Dany does that on occasion, but less often.

The first time I watched this concert I questioned the vocals during the first song and then I remembered, oh yeah, this is The Warning, there shouldn't be a question. People have told you about the treadmill, and the backing tracks going down, but there's one more thing add - the audio was taken straight from the soundboard so it's going to be a pretty clear audio. They don't go in and clean things up though, they leave the good and the bad in there too. You'll hear Dany plucking the wrong string on occasion, or a crack in their voice, but they leave it in because that's what they are… authentic. This song was in the first half of the concert, but if you listen to some of the later songs that Pau sings, you start to hear more of her breathing, but her vocals are still strong and controlled. I first saw them in Oct '22 and then again in May '23 and there was a marked improvement in their vocals and musicianship just from the constant touring they'd been doing and they've only gotten better. And I can't wait to see them again because I don't think they're even at their best yet.

Great reaction! You've already been filled in on the details of Pau singing; but I'd like to add that there is only one (as far as I'm aware) recorded instance of them lip-syncing. They were much younger (not sure on their ages, Dany was maybe 15 or 16) and doing a performance for a tv station, a daily show type-thing. According to the stories, the station didn't believe them when they said they could play live as well as their studio version and forced them to lip-sync. The result was immediately visible in their faces and body language. They absolutely *hated* the experience and vowed to never, ever do that again to the point where they would refuse to perform if they couldn't be genuine and play live music. It's in their blood and it is their passion to perform on a stage. When someone says "They were born to do this", you can hardly find another artist to which this applies more than to The Warning.

Don't forget that this is a full concert that had its audio cleaned up to remove stuff like that and also some guitar sounds that you can still hear on the crowd versions of the concert. They also played a bit with the audio levels of some of the instruments and mics in certain songs. Just the stands post-processing that happens on releases like this where it is not aired live. It is also using the sound from 1 day, but the footage from two seperate days which is why it might seem that sometimes things don't completely line up.

Pau believes in staying in shape with singing while doing cardio workouts. There was a show they did were the altitude was taking its toll on them and you could easily tell their vocals were live. They normally rehearse so much they make being flawless look easy, but it hours of hard work that got them there.

A little info about the girls…
They are 3 sisters from Monterrey, Mexico.
They fell in love with rock music when their parents bought them the video game “Rock-band”. That’s how everything started 10 years ago.
    - 👩🏼 Daniela (Dany) Guitar and lead vocals.
    She is 23 years old.
She plays piano and saxophone 🎷.
    She is sponsored by PRS.
    She loves donuts 🍩.
She is a sweetheart, very loving girl and disciplined, she has the best voice for rock music in the industry today. Only Lzzy Hale can compete with Dany.
On tour she always has to have fresh fruit. 🍉 🍎 🍊
    - 🧑🏻‍🦰 Paulina (Pau) Drums and vocals.
    She is 21 years old.
    She is sponsored by Sabian.
    She plays piano. 🎹
    She collects Anime and Vinyls.
She writes almost all the lyrics for the band.
She is a genius firecracker 🧨
She is an amazing drummer and she can sing while she plays, very difficult thing to do.
She has a tremendous voice that transmits a lot of emotion.
She is the lead singer in many of their songs.
She is going to make you cry when she sings the song “black holes”. Prepare the tissues 😢.
    - 👧🏻 Alejandra (Ale) Bass and Vocals.
    She is sponsored by Spector.
    She plays piano 🎹.
This girl is the youngest (18) but she is the tallest.
Ale is a tremendous bass player, she is a clean, clear and consistent player.
She sings well but she doesn’t like to sing.
    She prefers the backing vocals.
    She loves Takis chips (fire).
NEVER put pineapple in her pizza 🍕, she will get mad 😠.
She is very reserved, but very smart!.
When things are going out of control in the band, she is the voice of reason.
She has super strength powers, she can break an apple with her little bare hands 💪🏻 🍏.

@@RussInCanada And when Ale was too sick to sing even backing vocals later on that tour, Dany picked up Ale's line in Choke as quickly as she could (it's difficult, because it goes from the top of her range immediately to near the bottom), but the gap was there. They did not attempt to fill the missing words with a track.

It's so sad, the state of the music industry that you have to question whether a person is REALLY singing or not... Yes Paulina is singing, yes Alejandra is singing and Dany is singing... they are all singing their parts LIVE. there is a doubled guitar and keyboards on the backing track. Pau took a page out of Miley Cyrus' playbook and sings out loud while exercising (doing her cardio workout).

I think it was more that people in the comments section to the previous video mentioned the use of occasional backing tracks, I was just curious where. Plenty of people have clarified in the comments so far as to where. I would usually assume that the band is playing because that is what musicians usually enjoy doing 😊

I'm not sure if you've seen it yet but if you watch their re-imagined version of Enter Sandman (done at the request of Metallica for their Blacklist album) from this same concert then you'll really see just how incredible Pau's live harmonies really are. That live performance is more duet than just one lead vocal by Dany. You have to remember that they've been a band for ten years, have done several hundreds performances from clubs to stadiums and many with this in their set list, and have honed their sound over that decade. Actually, watch the entire Teatro Metropolitan concert. Pau does several songs as lead or in duet.

  • @The3dikson

Pau does not make backing tracks for her voice, she trains on the treadmill singing to develop lung capacity and be able to sing fluently. It is not always possible to maintain the vocal standard but she almost always achieves it. You will be able to notice it in a song where she has to jump on stage singing Narcicista in this same concert. The fatigue is noticeable there.

  • @moesq1
    @moesq1 Год назад +11

It was very obvious in this same video, as Pau interrupts her singing to let the audience sing. That cannot be done with a recorded track.

  • @sam_c95
    @sam_c95 Год назад +1

As far as I know, the only thing on the backing track for this song is the piano (which they recorded themselves, they all play piano) because they don't have a piano/keyboard with them on stage, but they have done shows in the past where Ale played the keyboard part live at least in the intro while she wasn't busy with the bass as well. For the most part, they only put things in the backing track that aren't essential, so basically if the track failed, the song wouldn't feel lacking to someone who was unfamiliar with the song (of course people who know the songs may notice if something is missing). Tracks occasionally include vocals, for example their reimagined cover of Enter Sandman has vocals from Alesia Cara, their co-artist for that song, and Dust To Dust has vocals of a male voice recorded by their manager. They don't lip sync though, the tracks don't include their own vocals. There have been occasions where there was a technical error where microphones don't work, or someone forgets the lyrics, and in these situations, one of the other sisters comes in to cover the mistake. I don't believe there are guitars on the tracks either although I'm less certain of that. But usually the sound comes from Dany's guitar, either doubled and delayed or with an octave effect unless I'm mistaken.
Yeah Pau's face mic is really good now, they've refined it over the years. if you go back to older recordings you can hear the difference, its a bit lower quality, it pops quite often, she's often adjusting its position. Nowadays they have sorted those issues.

They did a TED Talk a few years ago and performed this song along with a few others, It is worth a watch to see how much they have grown since then. Yes Pau's microphone has drastically improved over the years. Speaking of the backing track, did you notice the piano playing in the background? It adds a nice touch.

  • @thsc9119
    @thsc9119 Год назад +1

Yes, they use backing tracks (and a click track as well) but the backing tracks are only in the background. You'll sometimes hear a background voice when no one is singing or a keyboard when there isn't even one on the stage, There's a synthesizer sound that starts More and a male voice that comes in at one point in Dust to Dust. But you'll never hear a track going where they are only pretending to play or sing. They are 100% honest in that regard.

I really enjoy your TW reaction vids!!. Three piece bands using a bit of backing tracks live is kinda necessary. I saw the Police's Synchronicity and Rush's Hold You Fire tours, both used backing tracks. These were extraordinary concerts and TW doesn't indulge in that practice any more than they did. The bottom line is all these 3 piece bands put on epic live shows for their fans!.

Great reaction. It's true what you say about the variations in Pau's voice, but you should also note that the sound heard in this particular concert is mastered and improved, like all live audiovisual productions, (we could say that it is not 100% the one heard live). That said, if you want to clear your doubts, after watching these versions, look for the same song in the same concert but taken with the cell phones of those present and there you will know exactly how they sound. Pau sings in all the songs, either on backing vocals, harmonies or lead vocals. Greetings from Argentina

As others have said, most of the tracks used are for instruments. There are some vocal tracks used as well, but I think the only prominent vocal part that's a track is the Alessia Cara track during their unique version of Enter Sandman - they track in Alessia since she's not part of the band and all three sisters sometimes have vocal parts at the same time as Alessia's parts (not really able to be sung by one of the sisters when they're already singing). I think they use vocal tracks to fill in chorus sections sometimes if they want the vocals to sound extra big (at the end of Narcissista from this same concert, Pau is walking around with a hand held mic and lifts it to the crowd but you can still hear a Pau vocal in the mix, so in that instance, I think they layered in a few extra copies of themselves to make it sound bigger).

They also have a click track that is also controlled by Pau. The click, the backing tracks, and the "guide" tracks (the stems from the studio recordings but are only routed to their in-ear monitors) are all handled by Ableton Live and triggered by Pau via two foot pedals. The "on" pedal is two her left and the "off" pedal is just to the right of her right kick drum pedal. There are a couple of "Pau Cam" videos (shot from behind her during their performances) where you can see the trigger pedals.

Another comment about Tedx. This was the last song of the show. I think they had a lot of anxiety built up, knowing the importance of the opportunity that Tedx was for them at such a young age. Pau's energy in particular is at a 10. By the time they get to that outro part of this song, the show is over, they know they nailed it, and it's time to let the last of it all out. There was a sense of relief and release to it. Hard to explain, and maybe it's just me, but I still get that feeling from that ending even in this performance. That outro is tied to that Tedx show, and everything it meant to them.

Of course TW use backing tracks. You’d be extremely hard pressed to find a band out there that doesn’t to some degree.
Obviously some use them much more than others.
It’s really impossible to quantify how much a band uses tracks but if I had to guess, I’d say that 90-95% of what you hear from TW onstage is produced by them.
If your interested in increasing your knowledge base about this band I would strongly recommend watching 2 videos that would help you out.
The first is a masterclass from Pau from Soundcheck Xpo in CDMX (Mexico City) in 2022.
It has a version with English subtitles.
The second is a gear rundown from Dany where she explains how she uses her guitar processor to achieve her massive sound onstage.
If I can figure it out I’ll edit and include links but both should be easily searchable on RUclips.
