I'm fifteen, and missed out on the original sublime generation. But because of these guys I got to looking back at the classic stuff. So thanks Sublime with Rome, for introducing me to the old stuff and giving the world some more awesome music. Your earning yourselves a new fanbase and building a whole new generation of people that love the classic Sublime. :D
This is probably the best song Rome ever made. Some of the songs on this first album aren't bad, but they're just missing the edge I enjoy. If you took original Sublime and ran it through a pop filter, you'd have this.

After seeing Sublime, and Sublime with Rome in concert i have to say that he is a great heir to the ongoing Sublime trilogy. Rome is also doing some great things with The Dirty Heads as well. Good song, okay album, good singer, but his songs don't have any depth or edge to them. Rome doesn't have the charisma nor the range of influences that Brad had. SwR is more on the level of Pepper, which makes decent music, but they aren't very innovative. The bands of this nature I really enjoy are Matisyahu, Dirty Heads, and the Long Beach Dub Allstars, who were in it for the music, not the fame. I wish they would have stayed together, and now they've reunited without Bud or Eric, which will make for an interesting new sound. Technically, Sublime and SwR are not the same band, but that's only due to a lawsuit. Rome may have talent, and he's trying to make music that will appeal to old-school Sublime fans, and I can respect that. But it's all about the name Sublime. Rome doesn't truly represent Sublime in the way in which it was intended. I truly with they could have come up with a better name, like Rome with Bud and Eric, or Subliminal Memories. Something to that effect. Rome, this post is Dedicated to you. ;)

He has obviously been playing Sublime's songs since he started cause he's got all teh strum patterns and ska breakdowns down perfectly. the first time i heard about brad being replaced, i was basically like "eff this". but after watching him do his thing i have alot of respect for the guy because he respects bradleys music and stays true to the ideals of the original band including incorporating band members. he definately has a musical knack for singing (and playing) sublimes music. every musician has a song or a type or style of musical creation that theyre THE BEST at. nuff said. this is truly the best they could do. serious.
