@Miles Matheson Geralt's not a man though. He's a witcher. A mutant. A man-made monster. There's a reason humans fear and hate witchers. I mean, who wouldn't fear them? In a sense the inhuman nature of Witchers not really feeling any emotions fits how players usually don't give a shit about NPC characters especially enemies. When they get blind-drunk, cheat, steal, beat their wives, starve an old woman, when they kill a trapped fox with an axe or riddle the last existing unicorn with arrows, they like to think that the Bane entering cottages at daybreak is more monstrous than they are. Just like what our parents used to sing us about monsters when we were kids to make us sleep but from a monster perspective, brilliant, and her voice is close to perfection.
I have only seen the trailers after playing the actual game. When he said he will come back for her I didn't read much into it. After the game I saw the trailer and as soon as I saw her singing the same song and Geralt appearing behind her I screamed: "I will come back for you one day!!!!"
Trailer was made years before the actual DLC. She obviously wouldn't turn into a basic Bruxa or Alp of she was a boss in the game and she certainly wouldn't be killed with a crossbow bolt. Actually, she wouldn't be killed at all unless Geralt has Regis on speed dial.
@@lobstrosity7163 the developers have stated that this is in fact orianna and that she's actually a very powerful bruxa but not a higher vamp, you can look it up on the wiki
+Robert Koh Witchers aren't very popular among humans either, could just be a normal lullaby that reflects the general opinion that they're freaks who kill for gold.
Sardonicous1 That's very true. I often forget how much of pariahs they are. But it's not surprising. Sometimes you get Witchers like Geralt, and sometimes you get ones that demand your children if you have nothing to pay them with. Although I suspect that practice died with the Trial of the Grasses.
+Robert Koh You have wrong idea about the surprise law. They don't demand children if you have no gold. Even more - Witchers CAN NOT work for free, because they are forbidden to do so by their code, but they also CAN NOT ask for anything else but the gold. There is only one exception possible for them. IF, and ONLY IF they save someone and that someone says that the witcher can ask for ANYTHING then witcher can ask for two things ONLY - usually gold OR something of your possession that you have but you don't know it yet. This is called Law of surprise. It CAN happen to be a child, but doesn't really have to. But when it does then there is destiny at work, and no one and nothing can stop it. That's why people hate it so much and fear it. This also is why they prefer to pay with gold than gamble with destiny and potentially loose a child.
i got sentimental a lot of times on playing the witcher 3... it is the most truthful game i've ever played... its almost like reading a storybook... where YOU are the architect of its story, no other game gave me such feeling, they are all truly masterpiece talented!
How Netflix ruined their adaptation with so much amazing source material is mind blowing. Im in the last chapter of "The Tower of Swallows" and ive beaten all three games, iven even beaten 3 several times one of those times 100% the game. Between books, games, and the amazing promotional material for the games like this, Netflix should have hit a home run that would have made Game of Thrones look lame.

I don't really know, I shamelessly copy/pasted the lyrics. But this version appeared pretty much everywhere, and since I'm not an English native speaker, I assumed they were the correct lyrics.
I wish there were more games like this in general. The portraying of nature itself (trees bowing in wind, setting sun) is mind-blowing, one and only minus is that the storyline is little predictable if you read the books, the characters are perfectly dubbed, the graphics beautiful, monster fighting quite challenging on higher difficulties, lore is amazingly thought out and completely fitting. MORE LIKE THIS ! Bethesda and EA should cover heads in shame.
When I saw the new main menu once I installed Blood and Wine, I just had to sit there and squeal into my fist for a few minutes. Because I was so amazed and nerding out that they brought the whole thing so far back around to their goddamn pre-rendered launch trailer that turned out to have actual story value to the game and FUCKING HELL, THE FOLK AT CDPR ARE GENIUSES!
its more like a secret that lets us know what happens after the blood and wine and it shows us that the ending where ciri dies does not mean that geralt dies
Nope its actualy humans singing it to their kids. "For the witcher, heartless, cold Paid in coin of gold He comes he'll go leave naught behind But heartache and woe Deep, deep woe" It means the Witcher's greedy and heartless, if you think of how witchers are paid, there's 2 ways. Money or a child. Basically the witchers steal kids, that's how they're made back when the practice was still in use. That's why only heartache and woe is left behind they take the money they take the kids. In the trailer Geralt says "Haven't heard it in a while" because its centuries old, its from an era where Witchers were hated even mroe than they are in the present years of the Witcher series, since the Wolf school doesn't practice those traditions anymore, they don't make any new Witchers and don't take any kids.

+NIKO Actually, I feel like they were the good guys (the wolf school at least). But people start to belive they are heartless mutants, because of a fear of the unknown and the publications defamatory to witchers. And that is also a reason of the attack on the Kaer Morhen.
+Lord Danika Geralt is quite complicated character, theres a vid about he save a woman from being hang, kill his "customers", so i can see witchers are more like " i do what i like" type
I love this so much because I feel it highlights the aspect of Geralt, and all witchers, that most people forget about. Because he's the protagonist, a lot of time is spent highlighting his positive attributes. He's honorable, kind and brave, yet we forget the only quality the monsters see in him. He's terrifying. Imagine living in secrecy as a monster your whole life, hearing nothing but stories of how ruthless and merciless witchers are towards monsters only to one day hear something clad in armor blow down your door with his fucking mind. Imagine throwing everything you have at him and no matter how scarred and disfigured it leaves him he just keeps walking towards you with a sword made of blinding silver. Every tool and weapon he has is designed to kill you and it *hurts*. Silver burns more than anything else for monsters, dimeritium stripping you of power would feel like losing a part of yourself and he employs these without discretion. Sure, most monsters are only slightly more intelligent than animals, and are more akin to creatures of prey, but witchers still hunt beings like Bruxa and other vampires. They'll hunt evil dopplers, they'll hunt trolls just trying to survive and nine times out of ten it's not out of the good of their heart, it's for a reward. What happens when a witcher doesn't get their reward? Well, as demonstrated many times in the books, the contractor should pray that they'll still be able to walk the next day. Witchers are monsters, which is precisely why they're the only thing that can hunt monsters. This duality in their character, especially with the more sympathetic ones like Geralt and Vesemir, is precisely what makes them such interesting characters.
I think one main point of whole Witcher series. Books and games both is what makes humans and monsters different. And sometimes that the thing lies under the surface. There are humans behaving worse than monster and monsters like Regis capable of compassion and decency. Even main protagonist being unhuman mutant is actually so much more human and decent than a lot of normal people he comes across. Even in books Geralt refused to kill dragons for example no matter the money or the time where he went to great pains to lift striga curse almost dying in the process instead of just plain killing it.

What's really awesome about this is it's a true spin on everything we know: traditional lullabies and fairy tales were aimed at comforting or warning human children about bad behavior or things that may hurt them. But here, it is the product of humanity that goes bump in the night and that is used as a boogey man for the monsters. Or to manipulate human children...
Noah Hallstrom after thinking a while i remaind of this one ! Also for curiosity here in Brazil we have a lullaby called "Cuca Vem Pegar". Wich it's about a witch who is going to catch your baby when he's asleep and other creepy monsters like english's babadook .xD thank you for your suggestion !
Kronos camron In the books and in past games, it's explained that each new race brought in through the Conjunction of Spheres, has had similar relationships. It's just that humans are the new kids on the block, and this has led to an alliance among Elves, Dwarves, etc. who have warred and terrorized one another in the past.
The lullaby was not made by monsters. Humans too fear witchers, and they see witchers as monsters too, or at the very least, as abominations. The vampire here was only singing a song made by humans to mock the witcher and remind him that humans will never accept him no matter what he does for them. For sometimes, humans are the real monsters.
@@Burning_Alive and I know a lot of fans who don't like the Netflix series. The series is so.....out of place. It wanted to be GOT when the witcher isn't that. How does a child lay anxious, wide awake trembling with her dolly, too scared to even be alone, and also fear no manner of ghouls, Hags, and wraiths? you're missing the point of the lullaby, it's about how Witchers are the boogeyman to monsters, Higher Vampires sing it to their children, it's not about how badass Witchers are it is about how Witchers are evil and will come and kill and eat you (from a vampire childs perspective).
The lullaby was not made by monsters. Humans too fear witchers, and they see witchers as monsters too, or at the very least, as abominations. The vampire here was only singing a song made by humans to mock the witcher and remind him that humans will never accept him no matter what he does for them. I like how this song basically flips the tables. This is very much the type of song that humans would sing to their children about monsters. The fact that it's a song that monsters sing to their children about humans, painting witchers as boogie men, really fits with the Witcher's theme of who are the real monsters in the story.

Seven or so years ago. My daughter who is 13 now. Heard me listen to this. She loved it. The first night she ask me to sing to this to her. Every night up until she got to about 11 I sang it to her every night. She is too old for her daddy to sing her a lullaby. Unless she is stressed or having a bad day. Every once in awhile. I still sing it for her. It helps her. A month ago I had a vary bad day. I was sitting in the living room in a mood. She came and sit next to me on the couch. Sang me this song. And my mood was just better. It’s like our song. One day I’m sure she will sing it for her kids when she tucks them in.
The thing about Witchers is that they are as fragile as a normal human, yet they still struck enough fear into the hearts of monsters for this song to be made and spread
I have been playing The Witcher 3 for nearly 3 years now and i'm in love with the lore and the characterization. I've been burning and cutting swathes through armies of Elite City Guards and Nilfgaardian Soldiers like there's no tomorrow. This song is so epic that i've decided to translate it to my native language, Hebrew.
Huh, it kinda works in Hebrew too, the rhythm is different but the lyrics still kinda make sense (which usually doesn't happen when translating from English to Hebrew)

It's not the same city you see at night from the looks of it (At night it appears like Novigrad, might be wrong though, day time it looks like a completely diff. location). Low and behold, the official image for BaW is Geralt heading off towards that city, which I'd bet anything is Beauclair - "the largest and the capital city and the palace in Toussaint, built by elves, and later slightly modified and extended by the people, the palace reworked the famous Faramond. Here is the image I'm referring to: www.gamepur.com/files/images/2015/the-witcher-3-blood-and-wine-artwork.jpg More info on Toussaint (For those interested) - 'Toussaint is a duchy within Nilfgaard famous for its wines, enabled by the volcanic soil. This mountainous place is ruled by Anna Henrietta. Toussaint has no army of its own, nor a police force, just a small number of knights-errant watching the borders and roads, though their attention is said to be keen. Tradition is a holy thing in Toussaint, so all holidays are keenly observed.Interestingly, the Nilfgaardian Empire does not tend to impose itself in the affairs of Toussaint and for the most part does not violate its borders.' - witcher.gamepedia.com/Toussaint

Everyone's saying that this is a lullaby for monsters but taking into consideration how people in the Witcher universe treat witchers I think it's entirely possible that it's/it was a legit lullaby there. Witchers are considered unnatural, freaks, monsters themselves by the vast majority of the common folk.
People also don't take into account that many lullabies from the area that The Witcher is based on are stories that tell children to shut up and sleep or they will die. So it makes perfect sense to use witchers to scare kinds into falling asleep in that universe.
I was talking about a prequel quest you can find in Blood and Wine expansion, the bruxa has a part in a story and etc. but it´s before the events from A night to remember trailer, therefore prequel

When Geralt said "I'll come back for you one day". I got chills as I recalled "A Night to Remember" trailer. Did anyone feel the same?
I have only seen the trailers after playing the actual game. When he said he will come back for her I didn't read much into it. After the game I saw the trailer and as soon as I saw her singing the same song and Geralt appearing behind her I screamed: "I will come back for you one day!!!!"
yes me too
Wait...so...is the trailer basically after the whole blood and wine dlc then?
Trailer was made years before the actual DLC. She obviously wouldn't turn into a basic Bruxa or Alp of she was a boss in the game and she certainly wouldn't be killed with a crossbow bolt. Actually, she wouldn't be killed at all unless Geralt has Regis on speed dial.
@@lobstrosity7163 the developers have stated that this is in fact orianna and that she's actually a very powerful bruxa but not a higher vamp, you can look it up on the wiki
So this is essentially a lullaby monsters sing to their children, right?
+Robert Koh Witchers aren't very popular among humans either, could just be a normal lullaby that reflects the general opinion that they're freaks who kill for gold.
Sardonicous1
That's very true.
+Robert Koh The law of surprise didn't die with the Trial of the Grasses not to mention that Geralt has invoked the law multiple times

A lullaby for monsters. I wish there were more songs like it.
Numunu1 the concept by itself is great, add the ambietation the game adds and you have a masterpiece.

"For the witcher, heartless, cold
Paid in coin of gold
He comes he'll go leave naught behind
But heartache and woe
Deep, deep woe"
It means the Witcher's greedy and heartless, if you think of how witchers are paid, there's 2 ways. Money or a child. Basically the witchers steal kids, that's how they're made back when the practice was still in use. That's why only heartache and woe is left behind they take the money they take the kids. In the trailer Geralt says "Haven't heard it in a while" because its centuries old, its from an era where Witchers were hated even mroe than they are in the present years of the Witcher series, since the Wolf school doesn't practice those traditions anymore, they don't make any new Witchers and don't take any kids.

what makes this so cool to me. The witcher is the good guy, but this song makes him sound like a demon lol
+Lord Danika If you read the books, the witchers were not meant to be 'the good guys' - they did their job just for money - they didnt care more or less about the person they were helping - i recommend you the books - their situation is nicely described.
+NIKO Actually, I feel like they were the good guys (the wolf school at least). But people start to belive they are heartless mutants, because of a fear of the unknown and the publications defamatory to witchers. And that is also a reason of the attack on the Kaer Morhen.
+Lord Danika This setting is full with prejudices. Simple folk paid witchers for dirty work, but that doesn't mean, that they liked or trusted them.
+Lord Danika Well it's the song that monsters sing to their little kids. A song of bougiemen about the bogieman called Witcher
+Lord Danika Geralt is quite complicated character, theres a vid about he save a woman from being hang, kill his "customers", so i can see witchers are more like " i do what i like" type
fuckin' bruxas...
shes an Alp
This is why you just died.
+Andre Potgieter remind me what the differences are?
Speed, number of attacks and health. also small physical appearance changes. kinda like a ghoul and an alghoul
Actually, she is a Bruxa, as Alps cannot turn invisible, and as she doesn't have the red markings of an Alp.
Wow, never thought of it that way.

The Witcher gives monsters a sense of humanity , why i love the series so much.
My 1,5 years old daughter literally giggle before closing her eyes to sleep when I play this song (the kids voice version).. I felt like O'Dimm was behind my back for a moment lol
It has been an honor to play this game.
What's really awesome about this is it's a true spin on everything we know: traditional lullabies and fairy tales were aimed at comforting or warning human children about bad behavior or things that may hurt them. But here, it is the product of humanity that goes bump in the night and that is used as a boogey man for the monsters. Or to manipulate human children...
amazingly thought ! actually do you guys know any song like this .. creepy lullabies?
Erica Nascimento. some of the different renditions of ring around the rosie are pretty messed up
Noah Hallstrom after thinking a while i remaind of this one ! Also for curiosity here in Brazil we have a lullaby called "Cuca Vem Pegar". Wich it's about a witch who is going to catch your baby when he's asleep and other creepy monsters like english's babadook .xD thank you for your suggestion !
Also that humans in this game are hateful and prejudiced. eternal fire, radovid, people of velen...etc
while elves,halflings,dwarves are tolerant.
Kronos camron In the books and in past games, it's explained that each new race brought in through the Conjunction of Spheres, has had similar relationships. It's just that humans are the new kids on the block, and this has led to an alliance among Elves, Dwarves, etc. who have warred and terrorized one another in the past.
Imagine to be so badass that the monsters have scary bed songs about you
The lullaby was not made by monsters. Humans too fear witchers, and they see witchers as monsters too, or at the very least, as abominations.
The vampire here was only singing a song made by humans to mock the witcher and remind him that humans will never accept him no matter what he does for them.
For sometimes, humans are the real monsters.

The series is so.....out of place. It wanted to be GOT when the witcher isn't that. It's so weird and so....mediocre looking. It's as if the writers just made a few researches on the subject and didn't even read the books.
Moral of the story: it's an individually entertaining show but on the most part it's differs completely with the rest of the franchise.

I mean seriously. How much of a badass do you have to be, to have the monsters make a song about you.

I like how this song basically flips the tables. This is very much the type of song that humans would sing to their children about monsters. The fact that it's a song that monsters sing to their children about humans, painting witchers as boogie men, really fits with the Witcher's theme of who are the real monsters in the story.

It's 2019 and i still return to this world just because no other game amazed me as the witcher 3.
can't stop myself frm listening this over and over again.. ahh.. damn this lullaby ❤
"a night to remember"
LOL
Reminds me of my favorite quest from Skyrim.
Agh, memories, memories....
reminds me of LOTR.... "ah... this will be a night to remember!"
Greatest game of all-time, Zelda BOTW is great but doesn't hold a candle to this.
FatBox Lol, all time? I don't even think it's the best this gen and invest it 4 times. Breath of the Wild is better imo for one it has fun gameplay.
@@Invincible-Under-the-Sun hell no
Handsome Guy we get it, your wife’s boyfriend gave you a Switch. We know.
The music, character, and voice fit this perfectly. It sends chills down my spine holy
One of the best Tracks from the witcher
I have been playing The Witcher 3 for nearly 3 years now and i'm in love with the lore and the characterization. I've been burning and cutting swathes through armies of Elite City Guards and Nilfgaardian Soldiers like there's no tomorrow. This song is so epic that i've decided to translate it to my native language, Hebrew.
,
יחתוך, יגזור
,
יאכל אתכם... בפה גדול
...
בפה גדול...
Huh, it kinda works in Hebrew too, the rhythm is different but the lyrics still kinda make sense (which usually doesn't happen when translating from English to Hebrew)
@@alonsan3977 Thanks for the reply :)
*throws money at screen*CD projekt red*u guys are the best.
toss a coin to your developers
Wolves asleep amidst the trees, Bats all aswayin' in the breeze, But one soul lies anxious, wide awake, Fearin' all manner of ghouls, hags and wraiths
For your dolly, polly sleep has flown, Don't dare let her tremble alone.
For the witcher Heartless cold, Paid in coin of gold, He comes, he'll go, Leave naught behind But heartache alone. Dee dee ohh.
Birds are silent for the night, Cows turned in as daylight dies, But one soul lies anxious wide awake, Fearin' all manner of ghouls, hags and wraiths.
My dear dolly, polly shut your eyes, Lie still, lie silent until no cries.
As the witcher Brave and bold, Paid in coin of gold. He'll chop and slice you, Gut and dice you, Eat you up whole. Eat you whole.
_DEE DEE OHH_
I'm fucking dying lmao
It's "deep, deep woe" btw
Dee dee oh lmao
Witcher music is just something else...it s perfect
Final Fantasy 6 is my all-time favorite game and has been for decades, but The Witcher 3 was the first time I ever had to reconsider.
fits perfectly to first episode of season 2
Need to play through this again
wish this made into the game..
ehem guees what you will fight in blood and wine expansion a bruxa
if you remeber what the werewolf from most wanted quest said he killed a bruxa from tussain the game will be take you there in blood and wine
+Stefan S +Stefan S Hmm thank you for that info. I haven't started that Skellige most wanted quest yet since it was bugged from what I heard (It's supposedly fixed now with the latest 1.11 patch thankfully)
Another clue is look at the city Geralt is riding off towards in the morning of 'A Night to Remember'.
It is said that Beauclair is an enchanted city where everyone falls in love and does not want to leave." Here is the image I'm referring to: www.gamepur.com/files/images/2015/the-witcher-3-blood-and-wine-artwork.jpg
More info on Toussaint (For those interested) -
'Toussaint is a duchy within Nilfgaard famous for its wines, enabled by the volcanic soil.
+Stefan S +Fallout Wanderer 2077
Werewolf from "Skellige Most Wanted" said that Geralt killed Bruxa from "A Grain of Truth" short story. It has nothing to do with Toussaint.
+Thunder Trailer than my bad still they said that it will be a bruxa
When my brother was a baby he wouldnt ever sleep unless we sang/played this for him. He'd sleep so soundly when we did as well
I love all the song. In middle of the nigth earing again and again. . .
Everyone's saying that this is a lullaby for monsters but taking into consideration how people in the Witcher universe treat witchers I think it's entirely possible that it's/it was a legit lullaby there. Witchers are considered unnatural, freaks, monsters themselves by the vast majority of the common folk.
Of course they are viewed as bad people, they don't care about anything but money most of the time.
People also don't take into account that many lullabies from the area that The Witcher is based on are stories that tell children to shut up and sleep or they will die. So it makes perfect sense to use witchers to scare kinds into falling asleep in that universe.
when vampires go to sleep, they check under their beds and closets for Geralt of Rivia
Geralt of Rivia : "few rounds of Gwent?"
Devs absolutely killed it in Blood and Wine expansion with this bruxa prequel story...shh ;)
bruxa epilogue*
I was talking about a prequel quest you can find in Blood and Wine expansion, the bruxa has a part in a story and etc. but it´s before the events from A night to remember trailer, therefore prequel
VojtaTube Umm thats Orianna from the dlc, you know that right?
Yeah, exactly I was talking about. Its a prequel quest, therefore prequel story to the night to remember trailer :D
VojtaTube OHH, i rather address it as the epilogue to Blood and Wine
I still haven't gotten over the fact that the trailer for The Witcher 3 takes place AFTER the final dlc, even having a character from that dlc in it... That's mindblowing to me lol
things amazing listenin to it since 3 years
Am the only one who first played the game and got hella bored, but then the more I played, the more I began to enjoy it and it slowly became one of my most favorite games of all time.
No
Yup. It was the White Orchard music for me. I started missing it once I stopped played, come back and that was the beginning of a long journey
Same here. The music and the scenery did it for me.
No Witcher would accept the contract for any amount of coin
Except lvl 1 Garalt of Rivia
Blood and Wine for the win!
elder scrolls 6?
nope
Todd Howard God has spoken
