I'm a 50 year old adult man and retired law enforcement officer and I collect soda bottles ( Antique and Vintage ) antique firearms and military collectables and Teddy Bears. I also collect books both antique and modern. Everyone has the right to collect and have interests that make them happy.

@@wolvo5441 I too was into 40k for a number of years. Sadly, because of spinal arthritis, I had to give it up because I can't bend or reach across the playing field any more. I also had the same issue as you ( I was in my 40s and early 50s when I played), getting all the flak telling me to grow up as well. Meh, I never cared what was said, I just kept painting and fighting on as long as I could. 💪😄.

Like my uncle and a lot of people's uncles and aunts who got them maybe interested in things like my uncle has a sick toy collection and he's a boomer as you so naively put it. Boomer is a blanket term that people like to use when they don't know what they're talking about or the age bracket that they're talking about that woman was probably in her late thirties early forties and that's my age bracket which makes her a Generation X which just makes me sad but unfortunately that's the way it is

Back in the 80s I was with a guy who played guitar. He was a Draughtsman during the day but played guitar often, especially on weekends. Because of this, he was paying an extra 200 dollars in rent to live in a "no noise complaint" section. One Friday night, very late, (think around 2:00am), I was there and he was playing. Not loudly but he had his amp plugged in, we got a loud knock on the door. It was his neighbor that he shared a wall with and his girlfriend. She was apoplectic that her toddler wasn't able to sleep. Neither she nor her toddler were on the lease, they were staying with her boyfriend in a no complaint, child free section. My friend was very polite and waited for about 20 minutes after they left, turned the amp all the way up and then gave them a dose of bass feedback through the big Fischer tower speakers. We heard stuff falling off the walls next door. They never again griped over some late night, quiet guitar playing.

On the last story, I remember a time when landlords were very suspicious of those who had children. I was one of five children , and our mom was often refused rental properties because of the children. My mom got particularly angry at one prospective landlord about this "rule" of his/hers about children. She asked him: :What in the heck do you think I should do about that, drown them or abandon them?" My mom was furious and I don't blame her. Children are precious blessings from God, but if they're properly raised, they are NOT destructive. Ask me how I know, I was one of those five and we never destroyed anywhere we lived. Although I did have a landlord's brother try to molest me as a child of about 9 or 10! Thanks to the teachings of my parents, I knew what this man was about and didn't fall for his schemes!

Two things, one I am an avid Warhammer 40K player / collector of miniatures..... I do not even want to think about the amount of money I have invested into all that metal / resin / plastic over the years it is horrifying and I could probably have bought a house and I'm not even kidding. I also happen to be 45 years old going on 12. And unfortunately because the Warhammer miniature sometimes gets sold in box sets that are limited edition runs I have had this exact situation happen with at least three cans especially near Christmas time when the special edition Christmas box sets come out. If I had a dollar for every single time I have heard the you're a grown man grown men shouldn't play with toys lying I again would be a very wealthy man. My point is hobbies are Hobbies they have no age limit and people who are that set in their brains just disgust me it's like wow you can't just let someone be happy and do their thing can you?
The second part I was going to say is this, why would she buy all of that one model? Answer, it's not for her kids! She is one of those online scalper shipping people and that's what they do they go and they buy limited edition stuff such as the dinosaur which he mentioned was rare and had just come out, and then and once they have all of them from all their local stores they will go on to eBay and post them for exorbitant prices. People do this for the Warhammer models 2 and they discussed me eBay scalpers freaking disgust me. They know that an Enthusiast will pay to complete their collection especially if you have that one piece that you need to complete a set and they literally prey on that, which is just disgusting non-human Behavior. So I'm glad that the op got his dinosaur back! Basically it doesn't matter how old you are if you like collecting Matchbox cars or teddy bears Beanie Babies freaking Pez dispensers Etc it doesn't matter as long as you're happy! My one buddies grandfather is 96 years young God bless him and he still collects model train sets and sets them up his entire basement oh my God it looks like a little teeny tiny World basically like the one that was up in the attic in the movie "Beetlejuice"... except far more details I'm talking you can get up really close with a magnifying glass and notice the different Expressions on these little people's faces!! Hobbies or things that make you happy you can enjoy by yourself or with others and it's a pleasant experience all the way around anybody who would take that from somebody else just hates their own life so much that they have to crap on other people's to make themselves feel better and I just don't tolerate crap like that

My hubby and i have totally different Bobby l body temps. He could melt an igloo in Canada. (Only slightly kidding) I can freeze at 55°f. (again only slightly kidding) My kids are more hot blooded than me but not as quite as hot as him. They walked about a half mile to and from elementary school. They knew if i was cold they had to where a coat/jacket depending on if there was snow or not. Usually the oldest would just wear a jacket because the coat would make her way too hot. As soon as they left the house they'd all usually take off their coats. I knew but i wanted them to have them if they needed.

Coats: if I am going to be outside for only 10 minutes or so I wear short sleeved shirts down 35-45 Fahrenheit depending on the wind. I have gone outside dressed that way at -40 Fahrenheit to greet guests and plug their car’s headbolt heater in. There was NO wind.
Now don’t get me wrong, at -20 with wind, two pairs of pants, a flannel shirt, 2 hooded sweat shirts and a Levi jacket and doubled gloves are the order of the day for working outdoors. Even that may not be enough.
1968 I was with a group of Boy Scouts on a snowshoe hike the first weekend in March. To prevent getting overheated and sweaty, we stripped to our waist during the hike and a minute after we stopped we put a shirt on, then at the 5 minute mark we put a coat on.
