Alchemy Of Love
Anime: Tenchi Muyo!
OST: Tenchi The Movie - Tenchi In Love (1996)
[audio]
Tenchi Muyo! (天地無用!, Tenchi Muyō!), is an anime, light novel, and manga series created by Masaki Kajishima and Hiroki Hayashi about a boy named Tenchi Masaki, which has grown into a larger franchise. Tenchi Muyo! was one of the early successes for AIC, the animation company behind it, which went on to create El-Hazard, Battle Athletes, Oh My Goddess!, Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure and many other anime series.
The original series, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, is a six episode Original Video Animation (OVA) released in Japan in 1992--93. As its popularity grew, it spurred a seventh episode (also known as the Tenchi Special) and a stand-alone Mihoshi Special. In 1994-95, the second OVA series (episodes 8-13) was released, featuring episodes 8--13. A third OVA series (episodes 14--19) was released from 2003-2005, followed by a special twentieth episode.

Anime's golden age... What a time to be alive.
Agreed, Maybe the 2nd or 3rd golden age, but the first Otaku golden Age!
Best 1st anime, imo.
💯
@@Motokosgun facts
People don't realize what it was like Pre-Toonami.
Pioneer knew how to make movies. They knew their shit.
This song makes me sad for Tenchi’s mom. 🥲
I must have watched this film a dozen times on VHS, I still have it on DVD. I miss Pioneer so much, they always went all out with their localizations and made buying Anime feel special.
Saw the VHS in 2002. I think it set my Otaku Future. fell in love with this movie... and Achika.
That is so true Pioneer did go all out. Will miss that company.
I couldn't agree more with you Darkside Hero. The first three DBZ films, Tenchi Muyo, Phantom Quest Corp. and so much more
Yep they did
what happened to Pioneer
This song makes me remember my late mother. She had this amd Daughter of Darkness on DVD, its impossible to hear this song and not tear up for me. She was a big fan, and that memory is bright as the sun. I love this song, just like i do her.
I remember having this on vhs as a kid. First thing I did with the first pay check I got as a teen was gift my mother with a rihoki pulshy in the late 90s. Her last gift to me was a leather jacket before I went into the military in 2000s. Her death was 2011 and still had it. Her jacket I got it still now and wore it even in combat.
Tenchi Muyo in Love was epic. It was my first anime vhs. I had the subtitled version. It was from Best Buy in the Japanimation section.
This Anime Movie was the best ending song was really incredible good.
The voices of Nina Hagen and Rick Jude. Music by Christopher Franke, formerly of Tangerine Dream.
Also with ELO of all things??
the first anime i ever bought. with my ryo ohki plush.
Am I the only one who gets misty at the end of this film, and when this song plays? Like... every single time?
Anyone?
I tear up everytime
So do I.
Me too, I remember tearing up and feeling happy that their love was eternal.
Sadly now, I tear up thinking of those days.
We with you
You mean when Achika smiles? Yup, I lose it.
This movie broke my heart and made me cry so many times. I miss it.
Agreed! I owned the pictured CD and collected the series OVA on VHS - was my first official anime.
Oh, holy sweet nostalgia! I just got hit with the longing for younger days just hearing this.
Me too, makes me wish for the 2002 AU. I wonder if... No, I think id discover this in that universe too. This film moved me. Though with Tenchi i flash back between 2000-2003.
Good song we need songs like this to help us through these trying times.
👏👍💯
Wasn't quite so trying in 2020 after all, was it? Not compared to now!
first time I ever saw the movie was when me, and my cousin rented it while randomly looking for something to watch at BlockBuster. I loved it so much a few months afterwards I bought it from Suncoast in my local mall.
This movie was the first TM thing I saw back in 95 or so, then bought the CD primarily for this song, and tracked down all of the OVA tapes (so far back each VHS was about 20$ with only one ep for the first 6 tapes O_O) Great stuff I still own.
wow I thought I was reading my own Bio with this found this movie in blockbuster and was hooked ever since.. thank god I was in my early 20's when I got into Anime/manga and had the money to do so.. LOL now my daughter will have an inheritance with all my Sailormoon manga and artbooks.. LOL
Great lyrics man.
"Come to you across the divide.
Looking out, a wrinkle in time."
"In the cold dark ways of this lonely place
I will warm you, hold you.
"When the cold dark waves on
the shores break
I am around you, found you
A gold sword fires and night expires
a long night surrounding you."
I'm not even a huge Tenchi fan and I've never even watched this movie, but I'm still tearing up with nostalgia. I'm not gonna comment on whether anime is better or worse now, but you gotta admit that this time period had a certain style to it.
I think there should be a word for this: "A longing for a time that I have never lived through, but I will regret the fact that it will never return."
This song takes me to back sixth grade, finding this movie on a vhs at a thrift store back in like.... 01 or 02ish?
Haha...that may have been my copy 😁
Song my late wife and I played at our wedding 25 years ago for our first dance as man and wife.
All these years later, and this song still tears me up.
Still does.
This movie was one of first introductions to anime when i was a child. I love this song and I still have the soundtrack
awesome
I actually have the DVD!
@@rakiahbaker5589 Excellent
Wow...the memories 😭 I really wish there was a way to have saved Achika. The same power she used to save Tenchi ended up drastically shortening her own. Truly the power of love from Mother to child. Just excellent!
This movie always makes me cry. It also made me understand Nobuyuki. He lost his soulmate so very young. That's why he became so lost in himself.
You're not old until you remember when they dubbed the songs.
This song is the original. They made a Japanese version later.
@@cindydott452 If I'm not mistaken, highly unusual in anime! :)
@@KiyokaMakibi Nearly unheard of. I can only think of two other examples. "Serial experiment Lain" had an English them. "Speedgraphers" used the English song "Girls on Film". For the Japanese release. They had to use a different song when it released in the United States.
@@cindydott452 Lain was such an awesome anime. Speedgraphers is a bit unusual but well-worth a watch. It's so unusual for me to see three of my favorite anime series referenced in one place.
As much as the Japanese seem to like using English, I would think there are a lot of anime songs originally in English. I can't think of any others at the moment though, but Ghost in the Shell had a Russian theme song for what it's worth.
@@cindydott452 Guess what? The op in Lain by Boa has become a bigger hit now than it was then. Weird world, isn't it?
Haven't thought about this song since '99. At least until recently finding Tenchi on Hulu. Go figure.
Beautiful song for a beautiful movie.
Come to you across the divide
looking out a wrinkle in time
there is nothing less I would do
than to stand up for truth
In the cold dark ways
of this lonely place
I will warm you, hold you
A gold shield glistens
and your breath quickens
I stand close by over you
*Two hands held strong and sure with
the power of one
reach out past the walls
that can hold you
**We are guardians and warriors
come form somewhere to mind
what creates you and shapes
the Alchemy of Love
***There is a chain of light
out across the endless skies
and I see the energy that
relfects me in your eyes
and keeps us both alive
and keeps us both alive
Evening and the shadows will come
to destroy what we have done
but always will the power of love
shine a light bright as the sun
****When the cold dark waves on
the shores break
I am around you, found you
A gold sword fires and night expires
a long night surrounding you
this song is very smooth and soothing. came from a very excellent movie too. i give this a real big 2 thumbs up.
Still a song I come back to, to feel inspired. Tenchi Muyo at the end of the day I think is a series about placing your trust in love and letting it grow you even if it sometimes hurts.
That's just Nina's theatrics. She has an incredible voice. She can sing opera, jazz, rock, 80s pop, or be silly.
this song reminds me of my grandmother my mom's mother who died at the ripe age of almost 101 she died ten days before she reached 101. Rest in peace Millie the best grandma an autistic person like me could have! MY names Evan B. Greenman and this song reminds me of grandma b
I can't help but look back on this and think that this is a massive love letter to Japanese culture.
I have this soundtrack with that cover!
I SOOOOOO LUV THIS SONG and i got the dvd movie this is y i tranfer it to my mp3 with RealPlayer on top of the screen right now
Love this movie and song, my childhood I️ miss so much!
Such a great film. Amazing song.
This was the very first anime I saw (in full) in 97 or 98. I saw it on the SciFi channel, back when it was kind of cool, when they were having an anime week. I loved it, and it led me to get the entire Tenchi Muyo OAV series and get into anime. Tonight, on the eve of Christmas, I felt like watching an old anime that fit the occasion, and this one has a little snow in it, so I popped it into the VCR. It's still great.
One of the other animes that week was one where humanity lives on Mars, but they've destroyed the planet and a couple of adolescents manage to ride a rocket to another planet where they have a chance for a greater future: Earth. If anyone knows the name of it, I'd appreciate a response.
Great music. This is my favorite Tenchi movie :]
Haven't thought of this song since middle school. Had the CD stolen along with the rest of my pioneer collection. what a trip to the past for sure! thank you for the upload,
@senorctenaphore The male singer Rick Jude (aka Rick Palombi) also sang like that in a few songs for Martika on her first album. Jude is a middle name and also wrote for Meatloaf.
Totally. Love this song.
God I love this song !
great anime!!!
I had this on VHS. English subtitles version.
Why is this not oscar nominated?
Because it's not satanic.
Because Tenchi Muyo in Love! is a movie for Tenchi fans. Anyone who didn't watch Tenchi Universe beforehand didn't fully appreciate what this movie was about.
I remember being surprised that the female singer in this was Nina Hagen; the only other songs I'd heard her sing before this she'd sung in a horrible, screechy voice. But she sings beautifully here.
miss being a kid :(
as do I :) had it 15 odd years
パンクの母、ニナハーゲンとは思えない
Oh yes! Oh oh yes! In fact this song was directly related to Sheridan and Delenn as Christopher has stated before in a documentary.
That's too bad, since it works better for Nobuyuki and Achika, especially given the JAPANESE stylings. And to be sure, the Japanese version of the song has less specific lyrics.
Thank you for being the only person to have this in English... you should write somewhere that it is.... English version is better for this song I think, the Japnese one just seems a bit out of tune.
They are about the same.both good in their own way.
The godmother of punk herself, Nina Hagen
The first thing I ever heard from her was "New York, New York," and that kinda chased me away from her for a while.
I miss the days when buying anime was special. Where did the magic go?
My mom used to scold me for spending so much on VHS tapes.
Please where I can download the file flac
@senorctenaphore very 80's power ballad type of a voice =p
Grande Nina Hagen, Mother of Punk
Back then when Tenchi ovas were better than Tenchi Universe (this timeline).
Now the ovas are shit and can't even hold a candle against this gem.
At this point the damage that has been done to the OVA's, I'd much rather just take the Tenchi Universe Timeline as canon than whatever the fuck the shit show is now that is the OVAs. They should've just left the OVA's as they were back in the 90's.
Why bother going through the effort of getting Nina Hagen if they're just going to have Mickey Mouse sing over her for most of the song?
Nina Hagen forever!
I've never been able to truly like the English version of the song (and yes, I know it's the original). I don't know which singer it is, but it sounds like a guy in a very annoying falsetto during the chorus. I want to like this version (so rare to have an English song for an anime), but I just can't. Plus, IMO, Megumi Hayashibara puts a lot more emotion into the Japanese cover.
Respond to this video...
you can download the soundtracks to tenchi muyo and many other anime shows from anime.thehylia.com
A rather odd contribution to the Japanese animation industry by two German artists
Yes, indeed, a very beautiful song...but does anyone else find the male (I think it's a man) singer's voice a little jarring? Maybe it's because he seems to be a bit off key, or maybe it's just the fact that he sounds kind of like a BeeGee with a sore throat. Either way, it always kind of screwed up the mood of this song for me.
There is the Japanese version, I think it only had a female singer.
Also weirdass falsetto?? WHYYY ELO!??
Achika Masaki >>>> Kiyone Masaki.
OVAS ruined Tenchi's mom backstory.
Good times, good times.
